Why transcripts first
The transcript is the skeleton of a winning video. Reading one shows you things watching hides: how early the hook lands, how short the sentences are, how often the creator re-states the promise, where they leave gaps for the visuals to carry. It's also the raw material the rest of the workspace builds on, since ideas and scripts work best when the reference video's words are on the table.
Transcribe a video
The fastest way is straight from the grid: hover any video in All Videos and click Transcribe. It starts right there, without opening anything. The button shows that it is working and turns into a finished state when the text is ready, so you can set several videos going one after another.
You can also open a video, select the Transcription tab, and start it from inside. Either way, most short videos finish in well under a minute, and clicking Transcribe on a video you have already transcribed just opens the transcript instead of spending another credit.
The result is word-for-word text, ready to read or copy. Every transcript you've made is also collected under Transcriptions in the sidebar, so you can come back to them without hunting through your library.
Transcribe something that isn't in your library yet
The Transcriptions page has its own panel at the bottom of the screen, so you can skip the import step entirely. Two tabs sit at the top left of that panel and they decide where the video comes from:
- Upload File: an MP4, MOV, MP3, or WAV from your computer, up to 25 MB, with video under 3 minutes. This is the only place in the workspace that takes file uploads. Click the upload row, choose your file, then click Transcribe.
- Paste Link: a public Instagram, TikTok, or YouTube Shorts link. Paste it in the box and click Transcribe.
There is nothing else to set here. This tab has no project picker, because a transcript is the creator's exact words and your niche should not change them. Your project starts to matter at the ideas and scripts stage, where something new is being written for you.
Stuck on which tab to use? Click How it works in the top right corner of the panel for a quick reminder of the file types, the link types, and the length limit.
Either way the video is added to All Videos afterwards, so the rest of the tools can work on it.
What it costs
One transcription credit per video: Starter includes 200 a month, Pro includes 600. Re-opening an existing transcript is free, and so is importing the video in the first place. Current usage is always visible in Settings.
Visual analysis needs a transcript to work, so running it on a video you haven't transcribed will transcribe it and use a transcription credit for that, on top of its own. The transcript it makes is saved here like any other, and you're never charged twice for the same video.
FAQ
The video has no speech, just music. What happens?
You'll get back little or nothing, since there are no words to transcribe. Save the credit unless there's actual talking.
What languages are supported?
Transcription handles the major languages you'll meet in short-form content. If a transcript comes back garbled for a language you work in, email support with the video link so we can look at it.
Can I edit a transcript?
Not in place. Copy it out to edit; the workspace keeps the original as a faithful record of the source video.
