0:00If you're a business owner, this might be the most important video you watch in 2026. So, right now, AI companies are paying businesses a lot of money for their data. Google just agreed to pay $10 million for the old emails and files of an airline that went bankrupt. And it's not just like a big company thing. I have friends with normal businesses who've been offered over a million for their company data. I recently even had
0:20one that was offered around $20 million. So, in this video, I'm going to break down everything you need to know about selling or licensing your company's data to AI companies. We'll talk about what people are actually getting paid, what data they want, how your data gets anonymized, and why I think you shouldn't wait too long on this. Let's get started. So, first, why do AI companies actually want your data? Well, the simple fact is because they pretty much use up the entire internet. AI models have already been trained on the entire internet, at least what's publicly available. So, now they need the stuff that's not on the internet,
0:50and that's what's inside of your company. Right now, AI agents need to learn how work actually gets done. The previous generation of AI was just chat bots answering questions. Now, it's all about AI agents. And these agents can actually do a certain job, right? Like they can send an email, they can update your CRM, they can close a ticket on a client, but the thing is to learn all
1:08that stuff, they need to see real work. So, they need to read real SOPs, real email threads. They need real back and forth between co-workers. And basically, the labs are turning this data into practice offices where AI does the job over and over until it gets good. Now, there's so many companies out there that are sitting on decades of records, and these records show how real work gets done, and this data is now some of the most valuable material for training and evaluating AI. The thing is like they would rather pay to get real data than to use it without permission and get sued. Recently, Anthropic just paid 1.5
1:42billion to settle with authors over pirated books. And that came out to be about $3,000 per book. So essentially the labs want clean licensed data and that's why they are going to businesses and they're paying a ton of money. Okay, so now let's talk about what people are actually getting paid and this is going to absolutely blow your mind because the numbers are staggering. I have a lot of business owner friends and what I've seen firsthand in the last 2 weeks is insane. There are so many small businesses out there with data that's
2:09worth I'd say between $200 to $700,000. These are not huge companies by any means. These are just normal companies with between, let's say, 20 to 100 employees. Most offers I've seen are a few hundred,000 at least. I've had several friends be offered over a million dollars for their company data. And I even had one friend who's about to sign a $20 million deal. So, it's really not just like the huge huge businesses out there with valuable data. It's a lot of small and medium-sized businesses, too. And that's why I think this is so so important. Now, currently, there's a huge demand issue, which is why these
2:40prices are so high. The amount of data that these AI labs want is basically infinite. Trust me, I've talked to many, many insiders. It is absolutely crazy the amount of data that's being bought right now. However, not that many people know that they can sell or license their company's data. So, the supply is just not there. That's why I think the earlier you sell or license your data, the more money you're going to get. I think over time the prices are going to fall because the supply is going to go up while the demand stays the same or maybe goes down. But currently, if we look at what companies are paying, I say
3:10a lot of the companies like Micro One are paying between $100,000 to $2 million per data set on average. Basically, any qualified company is going to get at least $100,000. It is crazy. And if you have a company with big data sets or big teams, you're probably going to get $500,000 or more. And if you have really unique data and a lot of it, it's going to be over a million. Now, I really encourage you guys to submit your company ASAP because like I said, I do think that the pricing is going to go down. Down below in the description, I'll have a priority link to Micro One. I encourage you guys to
3:40use that link, submit your company. It takes just a couple minutes and yeah, you really don't have anything to lose. It's just data that you are sitting on already. Even if you have startups that have already shut down, you can sell your old Slack chats, your emails, your SOPs, processes, all that stuff. Usually
3:55for at least 50 to a few hundred,000. Yeah, seriously. Six figures for data that you already created that you are usually just licensing out. That is absolutely crazy. It's the easiest money that you'll make this year. Okay, now let's talk about what data is actually worth money. Why some companies get offered a few hundred,000 and why some get offered millions of dollars. Here's what they want to see. They want to see SOPs and internal docs. They want to see training docs. They want to see how-to guides. They want to see knowledge bases, work chats, emails, your Slack, Teams, email threads, projects, ticket history. If you use platforms like Jira,
4:29ClickUp, ASA, Monday.com, Zenesk, they want to see all those records. They want to see your CRM from start to finish, like if a client comes in and then the job gets done, what that whole process looks like. They want to see sales records. They want to see how deals move and what actually happens in the business. They want to see Q&A. They want to see review processes. They want to see how your team checks work in terms of what types of businesses they're buying data from. It's all of them. Now, what makes data worth more is going to be one, your years of history, right? So, of course, a company with 10
5:00years of data beats a company with a few years of data. What also influences price is how many systems you have. So, if you do email and you have tickets and you have docs and you have CRM, then that's really, really good. The more platforms you use, the more types of data you have, the better. They love seeing data that allows them to see the results. So, did the deal close? Did the ticket get solved? That stuff is gold for training. They also love rare stuff, right? So if you are in a niche industry or a very specialized type of company, then that data may be worth more. And
5:29then also if you go exclusive, right, so you can only sell your data to one lab, then you're going to get paid more as well. So how do you know if you actually qualify and where do you actually start? Most of these frontier labs are trying to buy data from companies with at least 20 to 30 employees. They want companies that have operations that are mature and they definitely want companies with a ton of different processes which are all documented. They're also mostly currently interested in US-based companies. Although, if you have a UK or Canada company, that's also okay. I was just talking to some of their internal
5:59teams, it's okay if you have overseas employees, but they do prefer that, you know, at least a good portion of your team is in the US, UK, or Canada. And right now, they definitely want all of your documents and data to be in English. I already mentioned that priority link to Micro One down in the description below, but Micro One is the company that I'm talking to right now to sell my own company data. They've been super amazing and they're for sure one of the biggest companies buying this type of data right now. Like I'm not allowed to disclose numbers, but I was talking to them and the amount that they
6:28are spending on data right now is just insane. Like I cannot put it into words how much data they are buying and they said that the demand is basically infinite right now. They work directly with the Frontier AI labs. They don't work with Chinese companies and it's a super super short application process. Essentially all you do is submit the application. It takes just a couple minutes. They're going to review it, have you submit a data manifest, you're going to hop on a call to talk about the types of data you have. They'll give you an offer, then you sign, and then you get paid. So again, like I said, if you
6:55have a company that has at least, let's say, 20 to 30 people and you have years of documents and workflows, just take a second to submit that right now because I guarantee you once everyone finds out about this, the amount of supply there is is going to make it a lot more difficult. I'm also going to include a link to my own company, Vertical Data Partners. You can just submit your info about your company there and my team and I will basically reach out to a bunch of these labs ourselves and try to get you the best price possible. I know a bunch of people in this industry who are
7:21buying data right now. So that in my opinion is a great option. Okay, so let's say you get an offer. Let's talk about how the deal actually works. So there's two different ways that you can sell your data. First is selling it and then second is going to be licensing it. So if your business is still running, you're almost always just licensing your data. So you get paid and you still own the data. Now, how you get paid is going to be a flat fee in most cases. This is the most common for small and midsize companies. Sometimes these companies will also buy a yearly license and that
7:51means that they pay every year for ongoing access because yeah, your company is going to be creating more data every single day and they're going to get access to that. There's also usage based or revenue share. This is a lot less common, but it is recurring. your team keeps working that creates new data and then that new data can mean another check. Now here are some really important terms for you guys to understand. First is is it exclusive or not? Exclusive pays more but you can't sell that data to anyone else. Also you should know what they can actually use the data for. Is it training? Is it
8:20testing? Is it using it in a product? Also consider how long the deal is. Right? Deals often run a few years or you can just work out a deal where they buy your previous data. And then you also want to know what happens at the end of the deal. Right? Is the data deleted? Get this in writing. Now, of
8:34course, this can get pretty complicated. I'm not a lawyer. This is not like legal or tax advice. So, you guys should also have some type of lawyer. Read the contract. Talk to your CPA because yeah, on a six or seven figure deal like this, it's a pretty small cost. Okay. Now, the question that's probably the most common, and that is, what about my employees and customers privacy? Let's talk about how the whole privacy thing actually works. And this is the really cool part because yes, your data gets anonymized. Here is the big idea of what happens with your data. So a separate company is going to clean your data
9:04before the AI lab actually ever sees it. I think a lot of people are worried because they think the data is just packaged up and sent directly to the labs and that's not how it works. There are companies whose only job is to actually deidentify the information. They're taking out the personal info out of all the data and yeah your data goes to them first. So once it goes to them, they're going to clean it up using all of their algorithms and then only that clean version goes to the buyer. For example, let's say you have an email that says, "Hey Sarah, can you call Mike
9:32at 5552018890?" Ask them about the Acme Corp invoice. After the data anonymization process, it's going to say, "Hey, employee 14, can you call contact 203 at phone about client 7 invoice?" So, it's going to remove all names, emails, phone numbers, addresses, account numbers, anything personal in its place. It's going to have some type of consistent placeholder. So like in this case with the example Sarah is employee 14 in every single message. So the conversations still make sense. That's
10:03really what keeps this data valuable. They also may take out whole categories. So for example your HR files, deployment records, medical info, stuff like that. Usually with these data anonymization labs, what happens is software does the first pass and then people check it. Now when you're selling or licensing your data, you're going to agree on the anonymization rules before anything is shared. So you can actually review samples before your data is used. And yes, all these sensitive data is deleted once the deal ends. For example, long email threads can still have clues about who someone is. That's why a lot of these labs will have a rule where if
10:37something's really sensitive, they're not going to clean it. They're just going to delete it completely. Now, where is all this going? Here's what I think is going to happen. I think these prices are going to come down over time. Like I said before, it's all about supply and demand, right? So right now, the buyers, they want a ton of data. They want infinite data basically on the sellers end which is basically companies there's a huge number of them but most of them don't know that they can sell their company data. Once all these companies know about this there's going
11:04to be way more data than actual buyers. And yeah when supply goes up and demand doesn't then prices are going to go down. So you guys if you've watched this long and you are sitting on a bunch of years of good data I think you guys should at least submit your company for a consideration. do that right now, not later on. Because the earlier you do it, the higher chance you are to actually have a buyer, and of course, the higher your pricing is likely going to be. Now, of course, I could be wrong about this timing, but I've seen this before and yeah, I'm pretty sure right now is the
11:33best time to license or sell your company's data. Now, to get the best pricing on your data, here is my advice. You don't need to necessarily take the first offer because different buyers will have different clients that they're working with, and some of those clients may want this type of data, some might want this type of data. And so probably the best route to take is to submit to multiple buyers. Yeah, like I mentioned earlier, I'll have priority links to some of the biggest data buyers right now in the description. Take a couple minutes, submit your company, and yeah, if you have a real business, I almost
12:00guarantee that you are going to get a buyer. Hopefully, you guys got some value from this video. Really, speed is king here. So, I hope if you guys have a business, you guys get paid. And I tried to make this video as quickly as possible after finding out about how crazy this industry is. And yeah, also if you guys know any business owners out there, send them this video. It's very likely that this video can make them at least a few hundred,000. Like and subscribe. I do a ton of videos about entrepreneurship, finance, stuff like
12:24that. I really appreciate your time. Thank you so much for watching and I will see you in the next video. Peace.
