Where these words come from
Worth understanding, because it explains the wait.
YouTube writes a caption file for nearly every video and TikTok writes one for most. Instagram writes one for nobody. The captions you sometimes see burned onto a reel were put there by the creator in their editing app, and they are pixels in the video, not text anyone can read.
So there is no shortcut here. We fetch the reel, listen to it, and write down what was said. That takes about a minute, most of which is the listening.
It also means the result is usually better than what a caption-reading tool gives you on other platforms. Nothing is being copied from a rough automatic caption track. Names and unusual words are still the ones most likely to be wrong, so check those before quoting anybody.

What creators actually do with this
Read the first sentence on its own, before anything else.
On Instagram that sentence competes with a thumb already moving, and it is far easier to study as text than as a clip you rewatch eleven times. Line up the openings of five reels that did well in your niche and the pattern stops being a mystery. Almost none of them introduce themselves. Almost all of them make a promise or start an argument straight away.
Then read the middle and ask one question: how is this built? A list of mistakes, one story told straight through, a claim made at the start and paid off at the end. That shape is the part you can borrow honestly. The words belong to whoever said them.

Because there is no caption file to read. YouTube keeps a ready caption file for most videos. Instagram keeps nothing, so the reel has to be listened to, and listening happens close to real time.
Do I need an Instagram account?
No, and you should not log in anywhere to use a tool like this. Paste the link, read the text.
Can I get an Instagram transcript with timestamps?
Every line carries the time it was spoken, and the switch beside the transcript hides them when you want clean text. The subtitle download keeps proper timing for editing software.
Does it work on private accounts?
No. If a reel needs a login to watch, we cannot read it, and neither can anything else that claims otherwise.
What about the captions burned into the video?
Those are part of the picture, not text, so nothing can read them without looking at the pixels. We listen to the audio instead, which usually gives a better result anyway, because on-screen captions are normally shortened to fit.
Does it work on stories or a live?
No. Stories disappear and lives are not reachable the same way. Reels and video posts work.
Can I use this with ChatGPT or Claude?
