0:00Did Anthropic just crush the competition? They may have. They just released something new called Claude Duet. It's their always on proactive AI agent. I'm going to break down everything you need to know about it in this video. And then we're going to talk about the rest of the AI news from the past week, including OpenAI's reaction to Duet, some really cool updates to Grockbot and how you can vibe code your television and a lot more. This is my weekly AI news recap where I talk about all the AI news that you're actually going to care about explained in a way that anyone can understand. So, if you
0:32want someone to stay on top of all the AI news for you, you're in the right place. Let's get right into it. I want to start with Claw Duet because this is without a doubt the biggest news from the past week. On Wednesday this week, Anthropic released Claw Duet, their direct competitor to ChatBD Dots, Metamuse, and Grockbot. It lives inside its own app separate from the regular Claude app, but it brings over your existing Claude memory, your skills, and your connected apps, so you don't have to start completely over. Now, it's designed to be a proactive agent. So, instead of you opening a chat and asking
1:05it to do something for you, Duet comes to you every morning. It sends you a brief on what's going on across all your connected apps. It checks those accounts every few hours, and it only messages you when something actually needs your attention. And you don't have to set up any of that. It's just going to start
1:21doing that right after you set it up. But if you want to, you can hand it tasks by either typing to it or using your voice. Anything from like scheduling a meeting to building a dashboard. It also runs on its own computer in the cloud with its own browser. So your laptop and your phone don't need to be on for it to keep working. And it can do things like navigate the web or open up web pages
1:44for you again with your computer off. And best of all, it's built on Opus 5.5. Now, most of the time you're just going to talk to it in one main thread, but if you want to, you can create these separate channels for different topics. So, if you're working on different projects, for instance, you may want a separate channel for each of those. It's very similar to Metam Muse in that way, but I think it feels more similar to something like Slack where you set up different channels for different projects or threads. But either way, across all of these channels that you set up, they're all going to share the
2:15same memory. So even if you start something in one channel, Duet will still know everything you've told it inside the main chat. Enthropic is also being pretty careful about what it can do on its own. So it can do things like read, draft, and prepare work all by itself. But if you want it to send messages for you or make payments or sign documents or delete anything, it's going to show you what it's about to do and wait for your approval before it does that. and some things like trading stocks or moving money between accounts, it's never going to do that even with your approval. Now, in order to get
2:48access to this, you do need to get on a wait list. I'm still on the wait list myself, so I'm waiting for access, but I talked to a lot of early users who did get access to it, and they say it's really great for things like automatically preparing you for meetings, automatically handling your emails every hour. It will also scan through all of your communication channels and look for those like nonobvious things that are very easy to slip through the crack and then it will let you know about those so that they don't like become a bigger problem in the future and then of course it can
3:18handle much more complex work. I also saw that Duet has a to-do list feature that looks really cool. So, as you're chatting with Duet, it will suggest different tasks for you, or you could just create your own by brain dumping everything that's on your mind, and then it will create for you this to-do list. Now, Muse has something similar to this, and I've used that one a lot. I think it's actually one of its most underrated features. So, I'm really happy to see that Duet has it as well. With Duet though, you can also do this really cool thing where if you see something on the
3:48to-do list and you want Duet to handle it for you, you can just swipe right and Duet will start working on it, which I think is a really neat little feature. The dashboard features inside of Duet also look really cool. This can pull from dozens of your connected tools and create these really nice looking dashboards or you just tell it like here's I want you to go out and like pull a bunch of data from here and here
4:10and like create a dashboard for me. Maybe it's about your revenue for the past month. Whatever it is, but it looks really, really nice, especially as we're going to do more and more from our phones. Now, this would be a very visual, easy way to see the information that Duet is trying to convey to us on a smaller screen. But what's maybe the most important take and something I'm hearing from a lot of people is that Claw Duet is the most proactive of all of these agents out of the box. So, what that means is that it's going to find stuff it can actually do for you that's
4:44actually helpful instead of just being performative in how proactive it is. So, if you've ever used one of these agents before, you may have experienced where it sends you a message to try to let you know about something important that I found and it's something that you already knew that was like very obvious. Like you get an email, so you've already received a notification from the Gmail app telling you about the email and then a few minutes later your agent messages you to tell you about that email. Like that's not super helpful, but apparently Claw Duet is really good about knowing what it should actually bring to your
5:18attention and what it should actually proactively handle on its own. Now, as I said before, you need to get on the wait list for this, which I think is pretty frustrating. If they make a big announcement like this, I think they should just be making it more broadly available for everyone from day one. But still, I'm really excited to get my hands on Duet. I'm not alone when I say that Opus 5.5 is the best model
5:41available right now from any company. Not only because it's so powerful, but because the cost makes it very usable. So having a good proactive always agent powered by an exceptional model is really exciting. And I think this is a very big deal for Anthropic. I still think most consumers and people who aren't super into AI are just going to use something like Muse because it's so userfriendly and simple. And I still like the idea of having a team of bots using something like Grockbot. And I think that's still going to be my number one recommendation for like businesses, like run a business using Grockbot. It just makes a lot of sense. But if you're
6:18more of a power user, then it looks like Claude Duet may be the way to go. I think it's certainly going to shake things up. And before we move on, let's take a quick moment to hear from the sponsor of today's video, Whisper Flow. Whisper Flow is a voice text tool that works anywhere you can type on your computer and on your phone. It's so much
6:36faster and more accurate than typing. Let's say I'm planning a hike. Instead of typing to Claude, I can activate Whisper Flow by either holding down the Fn key or doubletapping it for hands-free mode. And then I just talk. Plan a day hike for Saturday. Um, actually Sunday to Lake Isabelle from Brainer Lake. I'm going with my friend Divia. List when to start, what to pack, and the afternoon weather. Notice how it cut out all the ums, fixed my corrections, nailed both the lake names, and made a clean list. If I try to do this with the built-in dictation, you can see side by side how much more
7:14accurate Whisper Flow is. On my phone, it works exactly the same way. Hey guys, we're doing Lake Isabel on Sunday. Meet at the Brainer Lake trail head at 7. No, wait, 6:30 a.m. And if Whisper Flow ever misses a name, I fix it once and it remembers it. Whisper Flow is free to use, but you can get 1 month of Whisper Flow Pro for free with unlimited words using the link in the description. And now back to the news. Next, we got some really nice quality of life updates to Grogbot. So, first, if you have an iPhone with an action button, you can set that to call Grockbot directly. So,
7:51check this out. I'll just hold down this button, and you see even though my screen is locked, I'm still calling Grockbot. Hey Grockbot, say hi to everyone on YouTube. Hi everyone on YouTube. Glad the lock didn't slow you down. And what's really cool is that when it's unlocked, you can see up here, your Grockbot lives inside the dynamic island. So you can like do stuff on your
8:13phone while still talking to Grockbot. That's the trick of it. The island keeps the thread alive so your hands stay free for whatever else. To set this up, you'll want to come into your iPhone settings and then scroll down to the action button right here and then swipe over until you get to shortcuts. Now inside shortcuts, you'll select this last drop down on the bottom and then scroll all the way down to Grockbot. And you can choose to either activate voice chat using the action button or just send a message. I have it selected for voice chat. The bigger update though is that Grockbot can now
8:48build reports, memos, and dashboards. Here, for instance, is my researcherbot, Seeker, and I just asked it today to look into some research about whether people are using the new iPhone Duo as basically a laptop replacement. Now, normally when I have it do research for me, as you can see right here, I have it turn that into an audio file that I can
9:09listen to while I'm walking or driving. But then I asked it to turn it into a memo for me. And it created this. It's a really nice looking page with everything nicely laid out. And I not only think that this is making it very easy to read, [snorts] but also it's very easy to share because I can click on the top right up here and change the share settings to anyone with the link. And then I could just send this link to someone and they'll be able to read this exact memo. Here's another example. I had my fitness bot, Coach Cal, send me a dashboard that contains
9:43everything that I've been sending it, which is all the nutrition information, the calories, and all the workouts that has tracked for me. Now, admittedly, I've kind of fallen behind on this. I need to get Coach Kyle to start sending me messages to actually remind me to log this stuff because I keep forgetting. But you can get a pretty good idea of what this looks like. So you can see my weight progression over time. You can see all the weigh-ins that I've done because I'm trying to put on a little bit of muscle weight. Scrolling down here, you can see more stuff about nutrition. And then down here are all
10:14the workouts that it's tracked. So for instance, I can take a look at goblet squats and how much weight I've been using for goblet squats, weighted pull-ups, how much weight I'm, you know, attaching to myself when I'm doing pull-ups. And so I'll be able to track this and see this progress over time inside this dashboard. And I can tell it, you know, every Saturday morning for me create a new dashboard showing me the progress up until then. And I'll just update this dashboard. This is another
10:42dashboard that I'm really excited about. This was sent to me by my bot called commentator. And his job is to go through the comments on my last two or three YouTube videos and to let me know what people overall think of the video, whether they like it or don't like it. and he also flags spam comments and any like nasty comments that should be removed. Now, up until today, he would send me a report like this, which was just text. And I had him creating these images for me as well, which worked pretty well. So, I got a pretty good idea of the overall sentiment around the
11:12video. And then it would highlight any comments here that he thought I should be aware of. But now, this new dashboard is going to replace that. I think it looks so much nicer. So, I can see all that same information here, just really nicely laid out. And then, if there are any problematic comments, those can appear down here. Next, I think I'm going to have my main bot set up a dashboard that gets updated for me every morning. That kind of breaks down what each bot has worked on overnight for me automatically. So, I can just see, okay,
11:41this bot did this, this bot did this. So, I can just make sure that I'm staying on top of all the things my bots are doing. I actually think this is one of the nicest features that has rolled out for Grockbot and that's saying a lot because it's been such a great tool and it's for the exact same reason I was saying before about Claude Duet and like their dashboards that they've created is because the main way I interact with these agents now is on my phone. So I want to do less reading and more seeing things visually and more importantly I
12:09need that information to come to me. Like I've had chat GBT create dashboards for me in the past and I would have to go to the dashboard every morning, but now the dashboard is sent to me. I get a message from my bot that I can just check every day and I think that just makes a lot more sense to me. All right, and we have one final update to Grockbot. This one's only available on the iPhone. If you come over to your settings and then click on connect apps and then finally click on iPhone, you see here Grockbot can now control apps on your iPhone. So, in your calendar, it
12:42can see what events you have and add events. If you use Apple Home, it can do things like control your lights or your locks. You can set or check reminders, look up people you might know, and even set alarms and timers. So, let's try one of these. I'll try the alarms one just to keep this simple. All right. So, now let's come over to Grock and let's see if it can set an alarm. Hey, can you set an alarm for me for 512 p.m. on my iPhone? And it actually went off. So, what's interesting about this is that it doesn't show up in your clocks app like
13:16a normal alarm, but obviously it does work and actually says on there, if you can see it, Grockbot. So, pretty cool, especially because the new Siri, even though it is better, I'm still really disappointed in it. So, the fact that I can now use Grockbot to do what I mostly use Siri for, which is setting reminders and alarms and calendar events, but I could just use Grockbot for it now. That's pretty awesome. So, what else has been going on? Well, recently a bunch of users discovered that you can use clawed code to hack your smart TV. You see, a lot of smart TVs now are pretty annoying to
13:51use. They're really slow. They're bloated with a lot of apps you're never going to use. They often try to autoplay videos. And then of course we have the ads. But apparently you can strip away all of that and have Claude build for you a very simple UI that only has the things you actually care about. So if you want to do this yourself, there's a GitHub for it. I'll have it linked down below. You just copy down this link and you give it to Claude Code and it will figure out what to do from there. And unfortunately only works with certain
14:19kinds of TVs like Android or Google TVs. Now, I don't have a Google TV or an Android TV, but I asked Claude Code to try anyway, and I was really surprised that it was able to control my TV anyway. It found it over Wi-Fi and then started clicking through the settings. So, specifically, what I told it to do was to get rid of the automatic updates, to fix the some sound issues I was having with it and the way it looked. I just wanted to clean up as much as it could because I didn't want to have to go through all the settings myself. And it was actually able to do all that. And
14:55yeah, it may not be as cool as what these others guys did, but it did make my TV easier to use. So, if you're curious how I did that, I just came into the Claude app and I switched on the top here over to Claude Code. Now, I know a lot of you aren't super familiar with Claude Code, but I'm telling you, if you're already familiar with regular Claude or Claude Co-work, or even if you've just been using AI a lot, I promise you, Claude Code is actually a lot easier than you probably think. So, you just switch over to this. You come over to the prompt, and I said something
15:24like, "Hey, my Samsung TV is such a pain. It kind of always does this all this annoying stuff. Is there anything you could do to fix all that?" It gave a bunch of suggestions. And then I literally just said, "Can you connect to it and fix it up yourself?" And then it just did it. So I absolutely love that someone figured out that you can do this. This is a great example of, you know, a very small way that AI is definitely improving our lives. Since we're talking about Claude, this would be a good time to put out a little public service announcement. Boris Charity, one of the creators of Claude
15:54Code, recently said that if you haven't updated your instructions or your Claude MD files in a while, this might be a good time to do it. You see, a lot of the instructions that we write out for these models are in direct response to issues we've had with them and the way they performed where the models weren't doing what we wanted them to do. But as models improve that should become less and less of an issue. And a lot of times those instructions aren't even needed anymore and they're just consuming tokens and kind of bloating your model's context. So it's a good idea to go in
16:26every once in a while and clean those up. Now, Boris suggests you just completely wipe them out and start fresh. I don't know if I agree with that, although he would probably know better than I do. But what I decided to do instead was I went in and basically told Claude to do an audit. So, you can see that right here. I was actually thinking about switching my entire system over from Obsidian, which is the current note-taking system I'm using, over to Notion, and I was asking it if that would be a good idea and telling it
16:53all the pain points I had with Obsidian. So, it went through. It suggested that I keep it in obsidian, but it did point out that there was a lot going on inside my Obsidian vault that wasn't necessary. There was something like 8 23,000 files that weren't even being used. So, I went back and forth with it, kind of cleaning everything up. I had it delete a bunch of files I wasn't using. I had a whole bunch of dashboards that I no longer use. And we cleaned up all of those instruction files so they're more condensed and kind of got rid of the language that's no longer needed. And
17:29now things are running much smoother and I'm using less tokens. So I definitely think it's worth the time for you to go through your entire system, wherever you keep it, whatever you use, and just kind of do a cleanup and see what's no longer needed and what can be optimized. All right, a couple of other smaller updates to Chat GBT that you probably miss but are really useful. So, first chat GBT now lets you lock your chats. When you lock a chat, it moves it out of your regular history and search into its own locked chats section. And that requires a four-digit PIN or biometrics like Face
18:05ID or Touch ID to unlock it. So, this might be similar to like a locked photo album on your phone. And I think a lot of people are going to use it for like similar purposes. But locked chats also have their own memory. and new messages in a lock chat aren't going to update the memory that chat GBT uses in your regular chats. However, this is important. If you start a chat in regular chat GBT and then move it to a locked chat, that is something that chat GBT can remember. It's also important to know that this is not end to end encrypted. It just keeps someone who may
18:38be on your phone from actually being able to see those chats. And if you reset your PIN, all your locked chats get permanently deleted. So, don't forget your pin. It starts rolling out Tuesday to pretty much every plan, including the free plan. We also got an update to chat GBT slides. So, if you've never created slides, all you have to do is type in what you wanted to create a presentation about and then type in the at symbol and type in presentations like that. And then it'll generate a slide deck like this. The update though is that you can now work with your team and with chat GBT in here a lot better. So
19:16if you click on the top right here where it says share, you can invite people to work on the slide deck with you. You can also use this comment tool. So let's say I there's no picture here. So I'll select this and click add comment and say something like add an image. And then I can click this button and that will tell Chat GBT that I wanted to add an image there. And you can see over here on the left, it's getting to work on that. Once it's ready, you can click on the top right to present it right inside Chat GBT or you can export it to
19:47PowerPoint or a PDF. This is only available right now though for pro business and enterprise plans. And we'll close off by talking about some updates to the Google AI suite of products. First, inside of Gemini Notebook, you now get a lot more control over slide decks and video overviews. So, if I come over to a new slide deck, you'll notice there's a new setting down here called review slide outline. So, I'll toggle that one on. Otherwise, these settings are the same. I'll leave on a detailed deck, English default length, and we'll just leave this blank. It should be fine. And then we'll click on generate now. A few minutes later, instead of
20:27just diving right into creating the slides, you'll actually get a plan that you can review first. So, you can see here, this will have how many? 15 different slides. And this is what each of them will say. And if I'm unhappy with this, I can just give feedback here and tell it to make any changes. But if I'm happy with it, I can click on proceed and then it'll actually start creating that slide deck. And it'll work exactly the same way for video overviews. And I think you can begin to see like how important this is because this is going to save you a ton on your
21:00AI usage because instead of getting an entire generation that you're unhappy with, you can first check the plan, make sure it's exactly what you want before you really use up some of your usage on the generation. And then finally, we got something you guys have been asking for for a long time. So check this out. I'm here inside of Gemini. I asked you to
21:21create an app for me. Here is the app. And now there's a button right here where you can export this to a Google site. This is creating a Google site for you that is private at first, but you can publish it and then share it with anyone. I know this is something that people have been asking for some way to be able to share the apps that you create inside Gemini. And now you can do that. So that's all the news from the past week. I'm personally most excited about Claude Duet. I love every assistant I've tried so far. But Claude Opus 5.5 is my favorite model. So that
21:54model plus an assistant has me very excited. But what is your biggest takeaway from this past week? What are you most excited for? Let me know in the comments section down below. And while you're down there, make sure to subscribe to the channel. I release a weekly AI news recap like this one every single week. So if you want to stay on top of the AI news that actually matters, make sure to subscribe. And then I'll see you next week. Bye for
22:18now.
