0:00today I'm only starting to work on the new branding project I recently signed [Music] and as I share with you guys recently outside a really big client during the project that includes branding Web Design app design a lot of other application we're actually on a tight deadline because everything has to be ready in about two months so there's a lot of work to be done on a very tight deadline last week we did we did the kickoff meeting and the strategy meeting where I went to meet the guys we've discussed a lot about the vision of the company what they're doing how their product solves that problem
0:57whether they want to take the company how do they want to present this and today I'm actually getting to start to work on the creative side and the first step in doing this is to actually create myself what's called the brand brief this concept is also coming from this book which I recommended before regarding the process of brand identity and this doc first let me show you the doc and dental I'll talk about the purpose of it so here's a doc I have kind of a template here in Google Doc and basically it entails the vision the mission list of products key competitors what's the competitive advantage who's
1:36the target market what's the value proposition brand values and brand attributes all those things basically I am I fill them according to my learning from the the strategy session now be getting started with this kind of brand briefs has two great advantages the first one is to show this to your client and get his approval that you actually understood their company right and that you're actually trying to solve the correct problems because a lot of times you've heard one thing but they've actually meant one different thing so when you get this in writing and show it to them you can actually make sure that there are no no mistakes and you're
2:20working on the right kind of creative grid the second that second thing is that this really helps to kind of inform my creative decision lead and guide my research and my inspiration and for me personally writing things down and seeing them in writing or unless of stuff like that is always kind of the catalyst of bringing visual ideas so by writing this now what I did after that is kind of wrote myself a list of keywords or subject that I want to research kind of visually that might lead me to two visual ideas for the logo for the visual language and so forth so basically tomorrow I have a meeting
3:04with them regarding the we're doing a video production for the company this is kind of in parallel to doing the brand identity we're working on a video so tomorrow well when I'll be at their office I'm going to actually show them this brand brief to make sure to get their approval and see I didn't get something right I might get Corrections but what I did before as I've shared with you that I got this project because I have a really good friend working on this project in the company so he's kind of what's called a champion champion is somebody who's working on the client side but he's hidden your favor you know
3:38he's my friend so I've actually sent this to him the the brief that I did to ask him is this okay because this will kind of avoid will help me avoid mistakes or critical mistakes I do before I actually present this to the CEO of the company so once I finish doing that I've actually got started doing some Ross logo sketches and ideas for this I went out to the park because I kind of want to be you know without internet without distractions just kind of sketching out you know pen on paper to get some ideas flowing I never expect something good to happen on the first day that I'm doing this but
4:16actually today I had one good idea which I feel kind of promising I actually need two good ideas because I want to present even to creative direction kind of options for for the branding and it's not surprising to have a good idea during the first day of course it's not on the computer you add just a rough sketch so I'm not sure this will evolve into into a great tradition but I feel like it's a good start and I will be sketching for for multiple days I think because I need time for for the ideas to sink in like I'd rather have like 5 1 1 hours of
4:52five days of one-hour sessions rather than one day with five hours of sketches because I need kind of time for it to sink and refresh my brain so overall I feel it was quite productive day again tomorrow we'll be meeting them for the video production meeting and hope they'll they'll approve the brand brief and will continue developing this brand identity oh by the way guys I've forgot to mention next week I think it's going to be Tuesday 10:30 Pacific time I'm going to have a live event me and McKenzie are going to do kind of a web flow trying to kick each other at rebuilding the website obviously I'm
5:34going to win sorry McKenzie but obviously I'll be doing that quicker so it's going to be a fun live event put that in your calendar and be sure to watch probably stream from web flows channel more details in the upcoming episodes see you guys tomorrow you [Music]
