0:00Most people who try to lower their taxes internationally focus only on one thing. They move to a new country or they set up a foreign company. Job done. But then they are surprised when they still get a tax bill, their bank account gets frozen or their home country comes back and says, "Actually, [music] you still owe us." Here's the thing. Optimizing one part of the system doesn't get you to zero. the people who actually pay 0% tax

0:25legally, cleanly, and without stress. They optimize three separate layers at the same time. And that is exactly what I'm going to cover today. I call it the 0% tax triangle. And all three points have to work together. You can have the perfect company, but the wrong residency setup, and you're still paying tax. You can have the right company, but keep all of your money in the wrong bank. And you're creating problems for yourself in a completely different way. So, today

0:50we're going to cover all three of them. what they are, what works and what breaks the triangle. The top part of the triangle is your tax residency and in my opinion the most important. This means which country is considering you to be a tax resident there and what do they actually charge you? And we want to be a tax resident somewhere that either has no personal income tax, has low taxes, or uses a territorial tax system where foreign income is simply not taxed. That is the standard we're working to. Now, we can run through a couple different options here. We have Paraguay, which is probably the easiest entry point right

1:25now. It runs on a territorial tax system, which means if your income comes from outside Paraguay with a foreign company with foreign clients, then Paraguay doesn't tax it. It's very low cost to get. Uh the residency is straightforward and there's no large deposit requirement to get started. Panama works on the exact same principle with territorial taxation. [music] So 0% tax on foreign source income with even a more developed environment overall. Additionally, we also have the UAE and in particular Dubai which works on a different system. They simply have 0% personal income tax without any conditions attached. It has excellent banking infrastructure. It is very reputable, but it's more expensive to

2:06set up and maintain, but from a tax perspective, it's by far the simplest structure. Another country I want to mention is Georgia. Now, this isn't fully 0% tax, but it has a 1% turnover tax for small business owners and entrepreneurs, making up to around $180,000 per year. It is really easy to set up. The cost to do it is incredibly low, and you can just pay 1% tax very accessibly, [music] even if you're just starting out. Now, the reason why Paraguay is so popular nowadays is because you can literally fly to the capital city as Shan, get your residency card, get your ID card, the Shadoula,

2:43and get registered as a tax resident straight away. There's no minimum stay requirement to get your tax residency certificate. Now, this can work well in certain cases if you properly leave your home country, you have Paraguay as your legal tax base, and you just travel around different countries as a perpetual traveler. For example, 3 months in Bali, 3 months in Thailand, 3 months in Colombia, you travel all around. The UAE is often chosen more by people who are running a larger business, who want a cleaner setup, and who have the intent to also live in Dubai and make it their base. It's a great entrepreneurial hub. The

3:19infrastructure for business is really good, and it's just cleaner from a compliance perspective. But of course, your residency alone does not create 0% tax altogether. the business entity or the way you make your money has to match because if you're having a personal setup in Paraguay which does not tax foreign income but your company is registered in [music] Germany and paying 30% corporate tax then that is not efficient. The structure has to work end to end. So let's go through the main options for most online entrepreneurs in

3:49this case. The US LLC is the way to go. If you're a non- US resident and you open a single member LLC, it is what is called a pass through entity. There's no corporate tax at the entity level. The profits and taxes flow directly to you as the owner personally. So if you're living in Paraguay or Panama and those countries do not tax your foreign income, the result is zero tax all the way through. The LLC earns the money, passes it through you, and the country of residence doesn't tax it. Now, in case you're already choosing to live in the UAE, [music] setting up a UE company

4:22makes a lot of sense. You get local substance, which looks clean from a compliance perspective, and the corporate tax rate is 9% above roughly $100,000 in profit. So, below that threshold, you're still at zero. It is more expensive to set up and maintain than the US LLC, but if the UAE is your home base anyway, it is the best option. Other options that are often used here are Hong Kong, particularly if you're doing business across Asia or you need strong payment processing access. And Hong Kong also runs on this territorial tax system [music] where profits sourced from outside Hong Kong are not taxed locally. So if you have no local

5:00operations in Hong Kong, you're making money from outside the country with global clients. You can have a 0% tax setup here as well on the company level. The international reputation is excellent, but it does require more accounting and slightly higher cost. But the third point, what is being overlooked the most is banking. Like most people spend months trying to optimize their taxes, [music] organizing their visas, but they leave all their money sitting in the exact same banking

5:25system that they were trying to leave. And that is a problem for two reasons. If you're still using your old home country's bank account as your primary banking relationship, it can weaken your overall position. [music] In some situations, it may be used as evidence that your center of financial life is still in that country, which is something that you really want to avoid when establishing a genuine international setup. And second, some of the countries you move to for tax purposes are simply not great for

5:55banking. Paraguay is a perfect example. The residency works beautiful for tax, but the local banks also lack the safety standards and the features which you're looking for. This is why the third corner of the triangle is having a separate banking jurisdiction altogether. And the way I like to think about banking is in layers. So the first layer would be wealth protection. This is where your actual savings and long-term capital lives. For this, you want a stable and reputable jurisdiction with a strong legal system and a wellestablished banking sector. Places like Switzerland, the Channel Islands, Singapore, and Gibraltar are popular

6:32examples. [music] The goal here is security, stability, and long-term wealth preservation. The second is operational banking. Here you can receive client payments and day-to-day [music] transactions. This is where NEO banks like Mercury, Relay, Wise, Revolute, and Airwallex are all used. They're very convenient and work well for moving money around. The third layer is investment [music] banking for long-term wealth building. Charles Swap or Interactive Brokers are both accessible and well suited for building a portfolio outside your home country. And what I see more often lately is that people who are living the digital nomad lifestyle are only using Neo Banks as their full banking stack. And I get it, they are

7:14convenient, and I use them too, but they're not wealth accounts. And treating them as your primary banking is a [music] serious risk. Their compliance system is fully automated. There's no relationship manager and no human that you can actually have contact with. Now, normal, completely legitimate businesses actively get flagged by the algorithm. And when this happens, your funds can be frozen with no timeline and no one that gives you an update. And I had this happen to me like 2 months ago. Over €40,000 was frozen on my Wise account

7:44for many weeks, which absolutely sucked. Now, for me, it wasn't catastrophic because I had other proper accounts, but if that would have been my only bank account, it would be a real problem because I couldn't reach my own money. These things simply happen far less at a proper traditional bank where they can fix these things within a single day. If you're looking at the full stack visually at the top, you're going to be a tax resident of a low tax country or a country that doesn't tax your foreign income. You will have a business that complements your residency depending on where your residency is set up. This can

8:17be an LLC or another structure and then your wealth sits in a stable third jurisdiction like Switzerland or the Channel Islands separate from both the country of residence and the country that you left. The result is 0% tax legally and cleanly. Now there are a couple things what can break this triangle which are important to know. The first failure point is the center of vital interest trap. Most countries still consider you a tax resident if your center of vital interest is still located [music] there, regardless of what residency card you're carrying. If you set up your tax base in Paraguay, but you go ahead and live 6 months in a

8:53year in Germany, then that residency is not going to do anything. Germany will claim you as a tax resident and it's done. The whole system breaks. Additionally, they look beyond where you're staying. If your spouse, your kids or your primary home and the bulk of your economic life is still back in your home country, many tax systems will claim you as a tax resident bank. The other failure point is CFC rules. If your home country still considers you a resident in any meaningful sense, it can reach into your foreign company and tax its profits directly as if it is a domestic company. All of these things

9:27can collapse the entire structure. A successful international structure isn't just about obtaining a new residency, opening a foreign bank account, a foreign company. It requires a genuine relocation of your personal and economic life. Besides that, you need to understand the exact tax rules of the country where you're moving to. Now, with Paraguay, it is quite clear-cut, but in many other countries, it can be far more nuanced. If you Google territorial tax countries, you will also find other options like Thailand, Malaysia, and Malta where they say that foreign sourced income is taxfree. And a common misconception is that if your company is registered overseas and your clients are located abroad that the

10:07income automatically becomes foreign source income. But in many countries, that is not how the rules work. If you're physically living in the country and you are performing the work from within its borders, the country may consider the income to be locally sourced regardless of where the company is incorporated and where the clients are located. This is why you simply cannot copy paste the same structure from one country to the other.
