0:00Gemini is now an AI super app. It can complete tasks for you, code for you, and it has an always on agent working for you 24/7. Two weeks ago, that wasn't the case. But thanks to five big new updates to the Gemini desktop app, it is now safe to call it an AI super app. So, in this video, I'm going to break down what all those updates are and how you can get the most out of the new Gemini Super app. If you haven't done so already, make sure to download the

0:28Gemini desktop app using the link below. Today, I'm going to be showing you everything inside the Gemini Mac app, but a lot of this will also be available on the Windows and phone app. And if you already have the desktop app downloaded, make sure to update it. If you haven't used the desktop app in a while, you'll notice there are a few things in here that are new. One of the most obvious is that you can now switch right here between chat and task. Tasks actually aren't that new. This is Gemini Spark, Google's always on AI agent. It used to live up here on the top left in this

1:02side menu, but now you can conveniently switch between chat and task right here. To take advantage of the strength of both of these two, I suggest you think of chat as a tool that you go to when you want to ask some questions or think through ideas, and you use task when you want the AI to actually do something for you. We're mostly going to be focusing on tasks because this is where you can see some of the biggest changes to the Gemini desktop app and where you're

1:28going to get the most power out of it. And one of those things is right here inside the prompt box. You will also notice there is a drop down here now for folders. This allows you to select a folder on your computer that the agent can work inside of. When you select a folder, Spark will be able to read what's in that folder and pull information from it to help with the task that you give it. And it can also create files in that folder or change files in that folder. So, for instance, right here I have a folder called Frankbot. This is the folder on my

2:01computer that contains everything about my business. It contains invoices, contracts, my standard operating procedures, and a bunch of notes, all the outlines for my YouTube videos. Like, everything's in there. So, if I'm feeling lazy, I just select this and send Gemini a task like maybe I'm asking it to do some research for me for a future YouTube video. And then it will have the full understanding about who I am, what the business is that I run, and we'll actually be able to create that report directly inside this folder on my

2:32computer. Let me show you an example. So, here I created a folder on my computer for a fictional company called Copper Pine Plumbing. And you can see I have all these files in this folder. This contains a bunch of fake bank transactions, marketing reports, and other financial information. And I'm going to point Gemini to this folder. So

2:52again, to do that, I have task selected. And now I will select that folder. So I'll click right here where it says add new folder. Then I will find that folder and click on select folder. And it will pop up a little message saying, are you sure you want Gemini to be able to access this folder? I'll allow that. And now you'll see it right here. So, what I'm going to do is ask Gemini to look through this folder and to kind of put together for me a financial report for my business. For this, I'll use the dictation button. Go through the financials inside this folder and put

3:24together a financial report for me. Make it a nice presentation and save it inside this folder. So, I'm asking it to do two things here. Look at the files in this folder and then create a new file in the folder. Now, while we're waiting for the task to finish, notice what just popped up right here. It says, "View backups of your connected folders for this task." One of the things I love about Gemini is that when you connect a folder and ask it to run a task from that folder, it will always create a backup for it just in case it really screws up. So, if it finishes and then I

3:59open up the folder and I realize it just messed up all of my files, maybe deleted some even, even though I didn't tell it to, we still have a backup. Okay, it is now done with this task. You can see here that it went through all the files in that folder and then put together this report. And you can see in the chat, it kind of gave an analysis of everything. So, returning back to that folder right here, you can see we have a new file right here. And this is the report based on everything it found inside this folder. Another thing you can do is run tasks from your phone. So

4:32if you open up the Gemini app on your phone, you'll notice right here we have chat at the bottom and you could just switch over to task. And you don't need to set up anything else if your task runs completely in the cloud. So if you're asking it to do research for you or maybe connect up with something like Gmail, all that's cloud-based. You don't need anything special for that. But with some extra setup, you can have it access local files on your computer. In order for this to work, your computer needs to

4:59be on and the Gemini app has to be open. But assuming that's the case, then you can come into Gemini on your phone. Make sure to select task and then click this plus icon and select your computer. Now that fake business I showed you before, all those files only exist on my computer. I cannot access them from my phone. But I can have Gemini remotely access them. So I might say something like for my business, Copper Pine Plumbing, create a financial report for June. You can see now it is accessing my local files on my MacBook. And now it's summarizing that information. And then here's the report that it put together

5:39just for that one month. Now, if you want this to work, you have to come into your settings, click on the left here where it says tasks, and down here, make sure this is toggled on where it says run task remotely from your other devices, and it will be able to run tasks inside of any folders that you've

5:57already selected inside of a task here. So, we have two. So, it has access to both of these folders. Okay. So, tasks was the first big update to Gemini that helps turn this into a super app. The other can be found over here. If you click on more and then click on customize, there are two things in here that are really important. The first are connectors. So connectors allow Gemini to talk to third-party tools. Now, when Gemini first came out, it really only talk to other Gemini apps, which you can see up here, but it can also now talk to a lot of other ones, and they're going

6:34to be adding more. So for instance, you could connect up with Granola or Canva or Dropbox. And this means that it will be able to pull information from these apps and many times create things in these apps. So for instance, if you wanted to build a website, you could sign up for Wix and connect Wix and Gemini could build your website inside of Wix for you. And more connectors are coming. The other big update in here are skills. I'm sure a lot of you are already familiar with skills, but these are basically repeatable prompts or workflows. So, for instance, I have one right here called brainstormer. So, if I

7:12start a new chat or a new task and I want Gemini to help me brainstorm something, I can just do at brainstormer and you can see my skill for that right here. So, this is a prompt that I put together basically telling it how I like it to brainstorm with me. And now we never have to repeat that ever again. I could just say, "Brainstormer, help me

7:34come up with ideas for my next video." And then it'll go through the exact workflow that I use that I wanted to use when we're brainstorming. Now, creating these skills is incredibly easy because let's say you want to set up a new one. All you have to do is tell it in here. I'll say something like, "Create a new skill for me." And then you'll just describe the workflow that you want to save as a skill. So, I might say, "Anytime I tell you to triage my email inbox, I want you to just check the

8:03emails that are actually in my inbox. Anything that's very obviously spam, you can mark as spam. Anything that's just like a newsletter, you can move to newsletter folder. Anything that's maybe some banking information, move to my banking folder." And then I want you to prioritize the most important things that need my attention and just tell me what those are. Now, you can see that that skill has been created. And again, anytime I want to use it, I just come down here, type in the at@ symbol, and what's the name of it? Inbox manager. Or I could just say something as simple as manage my email inbox, and it will

8:37automatically use that skill. And so that is the second big update to the Gemini app, connectors, and skills. All right, update number three. You may have noticed that up here on the top right corner, we now have a button for anti-gravity. And if you click on this, this will open up anti-gravity directly inside the Gemini app. Now, anti-gravity, if you're not familiar with it, is Gemini's coding app. So, it's similar to OpenAI's Codeex or Anthropics Clawed Code. This is Google's version of it. And it used to be a separate app, but now it is part of Gemini. So, you don't have to have two different apps open. It's allin-one. If

9:18you've used anti-gravity before, it's going to be the exact same experience here inside of Gemini. Now, if you haven't used anti-gravity and maybe you don't consider yourself to be a coder, so you think it doesn't apply to you, I would still encourage you to spend some time just playing around with it because you can create some really cool stuff with this very easily. So, for instance, right here, I simply told it to create a game for me. That's capture the flag. I want it to be topdown, a 3D game where you fight the other team with paintballs. That's pretty much all I gave it. I gave it a little bit more

9:54instructions telling it how important it is to make sure that it looks nice, but that's it. And what's cool about these tools these days is that they will figure out how to create what you're looking for. And if they need to install something on your computer to do that, they will. And so just based on that prompt alone, it created this game for me on my computer and launched this game. And this is something that I would have had no idea how to do. This would have taken me weeks, probably months to create. And it just did this in about an

10:27hour for me, just with a simple prompt. So, don't write off anti-gravity just because you think you're not a coder because these days anyone can vibe code apps and it's really easy using something like anti-gravity. The fourth reason that the Gemini app is now a super app is because of the new model. All of this is now running on Gemini 4 Argon, Google's newest and most powerful model. And a powerful model is something you really need inside of an AI app for it to be a super app. In my testing, I found it's especially good for coding and knowledge work like writing,

11:04research, and working through documents. So, everything I've shown you in this video so far, the chats, the tasks you run, and the coding, it's just going to be better because of Argon. Now, you shouldn't use it for everything, though, because if you're on a pro plan, it can burn through your usage quite quickly. But luckily, Google's flash model is also very good and more than capable for most tasks. But if you still want to switch over to Argon for the more complex and important tasks, you can and should do that. The fifth feature I want to highlight that turns this into a super app is something called speak to

11:39window. And this is kind of like magic. So check this out. On my desktop, I have three screenshots. These are comments that I've received on my YouTube videos with some great suggestions for future videos to make. So, what I'm going to do is I'm going to highlight all three of those files, and then hold down the Fn key. That's going to activate Gemini based on these screenshots, create a list of some video ideas for future videos on my channel. Then, of course, I just released it. Now, it's thinking, and it just created this document for me right here with all of those suggestions in them. Let's copy this and bring this

12:18into a note. There we go. And now I'm gonna actually ask Gemini, tell me come up with some titles for videos based on these suggestions. Based on these suggestions, can you come up with titles for three or four different YouTube videos? All right, there we go. Four different suggestions. Now, if I want to add one of my own, I could just hold down that same key and dictate how

12:39anyone can code apps using anti-gravity. And then it just writes out exactly what I said, using the same exact button. And then if I want to bring this into Gemini or bring any window into Gemini, I just hold down both or press both command keys on my computer. And that then shares that window here inside my chat. You can see that right here. And I can ask Gemini to look at that and then follow up in here. So speak to window and those shortcut keys are one of my favorite features of Gemini. I end up using it all the time. like as I'm taking notes, as I'm writing outlines

13:17for videos, I'll just hold down that key, ask it to help me come up with an idea for for a certain line that I'm trying to get right or whatever it is, and it's just always there ready to help me. And don't forget that with Gemini, you can also create images, you can schedule tasks, you can have it set up for you, a daily brief, and create videos. It also does music, you can

13:40organize everything into notebooks. There's a ton that you can do with it. There are some things that I think are missing that I would love to see. First, we don't have any sort of live mode inside the desktop app that is desperately needed. We also would love to see a browser built into Gemini, so it doesn't just have to use Chrome and it needs more connectors. It already has a bunch, but hopefully a lot more come to it soon. So, that is the new Gemini super app. You can use this for chat, for tasks, and for coding now. And with all these new features, it is shaping up

14:14to be one of my favorite Google products ever. Another one of my favorite Google products though is Gemini Notebook, or as it used to be called, Notebook LM. It is a fantastic tool for doing research and building all sorts of cool assets like infographics and videos. I have an entire video on Gemini Notebook. You can check it out right here. And what I love about this is it actually does integrate with Gemini. So, if you want to see how you can get started inside of Gemini Notebook and then bring it over to Gemini, click on this video right here

14:45and I'll see you over there in 1 second.
