0:00That's it. I'm fully switched over. I am done with Mac. I am done with Windows. I have 100% switched over to Umachi. I have an Umachi desktop now and an Umachi laptop. If you use AI, this is the best operating system on planet Earth. This is as good as it gets. It is an AI user's dream. In this video, I'm going to cover it all. Why Umachi, all the cool things I'm doing with it. I'm going

0:24to demo everything I've done so far. Even if you've watched other Umachi videos, I'm going to show you some really amazing things in here. I'm about to take you through my entire setup. I'm going to show you what devices you need, how to install it, first things you should do, tips and tricks, all of that. Let's just start with why this is so good. Why I've been absolutely addicted uh the last 3 weeks. Why I am just Like it feels archaic using Mac and Windows now. Like it feels like a torturous experience. Umachi is a free, open-source operating system. It is a distro of Linux. If you never used Linux

0:58before, it I don't worry about it. It's super easy. This is not like complicated, you know, deep tech stuff. It is an operating system, which I'm showing you right now on your screen, that is AI first. AI is built into everything. I'm going to show you that as well. It's like it's mind-blowing. It's like, why hasn't Mac or Windows

1:15built AI this deep in everything yet? I'll show you in a second. It's beautiful. It is an absolutely beautiful operating system to use. As I take you through it, I promise you will be uh bought into that. It is productive. I've never gotten so much done in my entire life. Like if you do any sort of work on your computer, you are going to get so much more done in Umachi. It is fun and it is easy to use. You don't need to be a Linux dork. Last time I made a video on Umachi, I think half my comment section was, "Uh dude, founder's first

1:46Linux distro. Look at this dude go. Want to be want to be." You don't need to be a dork. You don't need to have used Linux before. It's fun and easy to use. I'll show you how. You just You're just going to have fun. Like I'm I think this is like the number one message I'm trying to have in my videos now. You are allowed to have fun with the tools you use. I am going to show you tools that are fun to use. Omachi is one of those really fun tools to use. You're allowed to have fun in 2026. So, let's dive into this operating. I told you why it's

2:14amazing. Now let's talk about how to install it, what computers you need, things like that. Then I'll take you through all the magic, all the AI magic in here. All right, so real quick before we go through everything I'm doing, all the cool things. What computer do you need? Literally anything. I'm not joking. I went to an Omachi meetup in San Francisco a couple weeks ago. A dude was running it on his iPod Touch. I'm not kidding. His iPod Touch from like 12 years ago. First of all, I was shocked by how small those things are. We are so used to phones that are just like mega

2:45sized. Now this thing was like this big. Was running Omachi on it. Literally anything. Go to your closet, pull out your old college laptop, pull out your Nintendo Switch 1. Right, if you have a Nintendo Switch 1 in your closet, pull it out. You can install Omachi on it. I'm not kidding. And then how do you

3:00install it? It's really really simple. It literally took me under 5 minutes. Get a USB drive. I have all my USB drives buried at the bottom of like a Tupperware container in my closet. I did not feel like going through that Tupperware container, so I went to Best Buy and bought like a $30 USB drive. Bring that home, plug that into any computer you have, any computer that has an AI agent on it. Chat GPT work, Hermes, Open Claw, Claw code, doesn't matter. Plug it into that computer, go to that agent and say, "Hey, I want to install Omachi on another computer. Uh please flash it onto this USB drive,

3:34then walk me through installing it." Basically what it's going to tell you to do is, "Okay, take the USB drive out, put it in your other computer, hold like F12 while it turns on, and you're good to go." It's that simple, it's that easy. You don't need any sort of tech knowledge. It took me legitimately under 5 minutes to do. All right, enough of that, enough of for walk-through, enough of this setup. You're good to go. It's that easy. I'm not like being

3:54hyperbolic, it's that easy to set up. Now, let's talk about how to use it, all the cool things I'm doing, why it's so amazing, why you need an AI-first operating system. And for the record, the people that are going into the comment section right now and saying, "Hey, you're a paid shill. They're paying you to shill this." If you think free, open-source companies are paying influencers to talk about their products, you're absolutely insane in the membrane. I just want to put that out there. No one is paying me. Believe it or not, someone can be passionate

4:23about products and talk about it. Anyway, here we go. This is my home screen. This is what it looks like. I chose the theme Osaka Nights cuz I think it's beautiful, and this is my absolute favorite color in the world. I went to Japan several months ago. I thought it was beautiful. This reminded me of Japan. This is a gorgeous operating system. Everything just feels and looks so nice. What do you need to know? We're going to go through a couple of the basics. So, we're going to go over a couple of things we talked about in the last video, then we'll go into the advanced stuff. All you need to know

4:52about Omachi is it's built for the keyboard. It's all about the key binds. The main key you need to know is the super key. If you use a Mac keyboard, that is the command button. If you use a Windows PC, it is the Windows key. All you have to do is you hold super and then another key, and that does all your different key binds. It is all about key

5:10binds, but they're super easy to use. I'll go through all the key binds you need to know in a second. But, let me just show you how beautiful this operating system is. Here are all your different themes. You can choose any of these. Uh they're super easy to use. It's just like a quick key bind, takes you to the the different themes. I like Tokyo Night a lot. Boom, you hit it, changes the entire operating system way

5:29it looks, even the way uh the apps look. Like if I open up right now my terminal, my terminal is now styled like whatever background I use. Every app you open inside Omachi when you change your theme will now match that theme. So, if I go back here, I like Solitude a lot. Solitude's a nice one. It's a nice black and white monotone theme. Boom, the

5:49entire terminal's black and white now. It's just super beautiful. I was never like an aesthetics guy, and now I'm an aesthetics guy after using this. If you do super W, closes out whatever app you're in. Oh, this is an I maybe I'll keep this theme. But let's talk about why it's so amazing. AI is integrated into absolutely everything. Built right in. It tells you how many tokens you use. I've been using Astro 6 ton, as you can see. I've got a billion tokens in the last week. I'm super It is

6:16integrated into literally everything. Anytime you use any sort of AI in your computer, it'll count your tokens and you can see how many tokens you're using. If you go into the apps that are built in. So, these are my apps that are here. Most of these are built in. ChatGPT was built in. Claude was built in. Cursor was built in. Grokbot was built in. Hermes is built in. You just open it up. All your apps, all your harnesses you need are there. If you're super into the terminal, Ghosty was built in. It's like they know what the AI people like to use, and they just built it in. It's like clearly the first

6:48operating system built by people who use AI. And if you're watching this channel, I imagine you're one of those people cuz that's literally all I talk about. If you're watching me, you're either someone who really likes AI or just likes trolling in the comments. For the people that really like AI, it truly feels like it's an operating system built by the same people as you. And when you open up these AI apps, you just click it open, you get this beautiful like kind of borderless experience. Like because there's no like crowd of tons of app logos at the bottom or tons of crap at the top. You just get this really

7:23nice full screen app experience. So, you can hyper focus on the app you're using, right? This is another part of the reason why I'm I've been so productive is when you're on Mac when you're on Windows, you use it for more than 15 minutes. If you're anything like me, you all of a sudden have 400 different windows floating on top of each other, and you're constantly searching for which one's which, and you check back in a month and you look at your windows and they're like all the way in the back, and it's like crap you're looking at like over a month ago. Right? You never

7:51get that here because you get these beautiful full-screen experiences. So, instead of having these floating windows, they really want you to tile. And what tiling is is you basically just have windows and they don't go over each other. So, now if I open up Claude next to this, it automatically splits my screen in half. Now, if I want to go and I want to open my terminal, boom, it splits the screen further. Right? Opens up the terminal. Now, if I want to open up another terminal, I hit the terminal keybind, which is super enter. Boom, another terminal opens up. Boom, another terminal opens up, and it splits your

8:23screen continuously. Nothing sits on top of each other. You only have open exactly what you want to use. And because it starts to kind of crowd your screen like this, if you open up a ton of apps, it kind of naturally forces you to only have open what you want open. Which for me has made me like really, really productive. Like it's increased my productivity a monster amount. So, that's the basics of Oomaji. If you watch my last Oomaji video, probably a couple of things repeated there, but I want to make sure everyone who watches kind on the same page. Now that we're on

8:58the same page, let's get more advanced. Let me show you all the cool things I've been doing with AI in here. So, because this is an open-source operating system, right? That means you can see all the code. Because you can see all the code, that means you can change all the code, meaning you can build and change any

9:15part of this operating system you want. Let me show you an example. You see this floating H over here on the right? It's been on my screen the entire time. So, I can actually move this H around. It floats over everything, all right? Nothing covers up. What does this floating H do? Well, this is built into the operating I built this into the operating system. And when I click that floating H, it shows me all of my AI agents that I have working for me right now. So, I made this, it's called Herder HUD. It basically takes all my Herder agents. For those who don't know, Herder

9:46is a way to manage tons of AI agents at once in your terminal. I basically built into my operating system, into Omachi, this floating button that allows me to any point click it and see what my agents are doing no matter where I am, no matter what I'm doing. Oh, if you haven't used Herder yet, let me know down below. Do you want a full video on Herder? Happy to do that. It's like the

10:05best way to manage AI agents ever. Another free open-source tool. Let me know down below if you're interested. But, I built this into the operating system. No matter where I am, I can open it up and see what all my agents are doing right now. My Codex agents, my Claude agents, my Hermes agents, my Open Claude agents, they're all working side by side. Why is this important? Why did I want like a floating button that's always on screen? I'm going to be honest with you, I'm a nerd. Like a like a big nerd. Like the type of guy that plays World of Warcraft Classic in the year

10:332026. I Sorry, I do it. I play Counter-Strike, I play World of Warcraft Classic. I'm now on War Dogs. I play all these games. By the way, Omachi fully supports basically every game. So, if you're on Steam, you have a bunch of games, it basically supports all the games. Uh I wanted a way, and now please don't unsubscribe from the channel, I wanted a way to play World of Warcraft while also being productive and managing all my agents. And so, I built Herder HUD so this could float while I'm playing World of Warcraft. The H floats on the screen, and as I play, I can talk to my agents

11:08and build things. Does that make me a monster nerd? Yes. But, is this like a really awesome way to play video games and also be very, very productive? Also, yes. Something that really wasn't possible in other operating systems. This is built into I just built it out. By the way, would you watch me play World of Warcraft while building things with AI? I'm seriously considering bringing back live streams that I just play video games and build things at the same time. Let me know in the comments down below as well. But, the question becomes how did I build this? Okay, Alex, you built it into the operating

11:39system, cool, but is that like a really complex process? Do I need to know C++ C# programming in order to do that? Uh no as well. It's super easy because AI is built into this operating system, you could simply go to any of your AI agents. Let's go to Hermes. Let's go on the terminal, type Hermes, and I can say "Build me out a plugin for Omachi where I can message my agents in World of Warcraft." And you hit enter, and your Hermes agent just builds it into the operating system. Just writes the code, and it's built in. Like, I I don't know if that really lands kind of how amazing

12:20that is, but think of that for a second. You ever use Windows and go "Holy crap, this Copilot stuff sucks." Or you ever use Mac and just be like, "Holy crap, this is like the most bloated operating system of all time. I wish I could change it." Now you can. Now you can just open up any AI agent and just say, "Hey, change this about the operating

12:40system." And then it just changes it. You just hit enter, and then it changes in front of you. Like, that's pretty incredible and mind-blowing, and also quite clearly the future. That is clearly future where you can be using a computer and the entire experience around you while you're doing things is completely custom to you and what you need. It's That's what it was for me. I was playing World of Warcraft. I'm like, "Damn, I wish I was productive right now. I feel really guilty. I wish I could be getting things done." I went to my Hermes agent. I said, "Hey, Hermes, build into Omachi some way for me to

13:14manage my agents while playing Warcraft." 10 minutes later, it was done. Built into my operating system. I now can manage my agents wherever I want. That is incredible. Other amazing things, I built a whole bunch of customization for uh my Oomaji setup here. I built a plugin called Grove. What is Grove? It is a way to focus. I, like probably many people, am absolutely addicted to social media. I am scrolling X every 5 seconds. I cannot stop. It is ruining my entire life. And so now I block it. I mean, this is pretty ironic coming from a guy who just told you he plays World of Warcraft. But anyway, so

13:51I built this into Oomaji where I click a button, I choose what tree I want to plant, I choose what amount of time I want to focus, I click start focus, and a timer starts, and while that timer is going, it blocks every social media site on my computer. Can't use any social media site. And at the end, once the focus timer is done, it plants another tree in my virtual garden. Is that one

14:13of the stupidest things of all time? Yes. Does it actually work? Yes. I'm actually able to focus. For some reason, I'm super motivated to plant more and more of these digital plants. It works. I built it in the operating system. I'm now way more productive. Built-in to-do list. I have a built-in to-do list right here. I click this. Has my to-dos. If I do super A, I can add a task really, really easily. It's just a fully integrated to-do list. I get things done really, really quick. Any part of the operating system experience you don't like or you don't want to change, you just go to your agent, Hermes Codex,

14:45ChatGPT, whatever it is, and you say, "Hey, can you change this for me?" And then it changes it. Like, you don't know how incredible that is until you just do it. You just got to do it. It really is amazing. Here's another thing you need to know, and that is the kind of the idea of a workspace. What are workspaces? So you can see at the top, I have a bunch of workspaces. You just hit super and the number, it takes you to the different workspaces. Workspace one always has my Grok bots. I go in, always have my Grok bots there. If I want to talk to a Grok bot, all I need to do is

15:15hit super one. Boom, my Grok bots show up. If I was on macOS, I'd have to go through my 20 different floating windows, or I need to move my mouse to the bottom and look through Google Maps, Apple TV, email, and the 40,000 other logos that are down there to find the Grok Bot logo. Right here, I want the Grok Bot super one. My third workspace always chat GPT. If I want to get some work done, I go chat GPT work always super three. Hit super three, I have chat GPT work going for me. Always ready to build something for me. Super two is my browser. I always have that separate

15:49cuz it's too distracting cuz of social media. Super four is my music. I always got my music. This is CLI amp. This is like a really cool built-in music player built into Amachi. It has like a really cool visualizers, things like that. I'm listening to Linkin Park lo-fi because I am a millennial stuck in the past. If we

16:08look at number five, this is Cursor. I've been playing around Cursor lately. I really like their new projects feature. Their new projects feature is sick. So, I've been using Cursor. And then back to workspace seven. That's where I'm kind of playing around. You get used to workspaces and like you just become so much more productive. You really do become way more productive with tiling rather than floating windows. You want to do something, you have a very purposeful workspace to do it in. You go there, you know it's the workspace you're going to be doing specific tasks. You don't go and open up apps, open up Instagram, all this. You

16:42have your one app, you go in, you get work done. And that's why I've been so much more productive with this. So, I think a fear a lot of people have when they think about moving to new operating systems like Amachi or any other Linux operating system is compatibility. Will my apps work? Will I be able to use every app I'm using on my Mac? Every app I'm using on my Windows? How about games? Can I play all my games? Well, the answer is yes. As I said before, basically every AI app is built-in and comes pre-installed. So, if I hit super space, which brings up our kind of main

17:13menu, kind of finder inside Mac, you see all your apps you can install here. Let's go back. You can see all your apps you have. As you can see, I basically have all mine plus a bunch of games. If you go down to install, you can see all the different apps you're able to install from here. So, they have AI menu with every AI app you can think of. If you want to install any browser, they've

17:33all the browsers you can install. Everything you need is here including Steam if you want to install games, Hermes out of the box, Notion, Obsidian, Spotify, Telegram. Everything you There's not a single app that I use on my Mac or Windows that's not available on here. And what's great is if they somehow don't have an app you want, say you want like an ESPN app or something like that, all you need to do is you can go install web app. I can say, let's call this

18:05ESPN. You can say espn.com. Now it's installed. We'll go to a new workspace here. We'll open that up. So, ESPN, open it up and you get a full kind of borderless app experience. So, it's like a full built-in app. Any website you can turn into this. You want to turn Gmail into an app? You can do it. You want to turn your calendar app? You can do it. Then you just pop it open and you get kind of this You get this full app experience on your computer, which is amazing. So, it really does have every single app you could possibly want here. And the ones

18:35you don't, you install it as a kind of your own custom app like this. And then you want to take it a step further. If you want to build your own app, you just go to your agent, you open up Hermes, you say, "Hey, build me this app." Builds it out. You have a brand new app

18:47on your computer. Anything you want. Because it's fully open source, because it's fully customizable, the AI will just build it for you. On top of that, there is an entire plugin marketplace with thousands of uh plugins available. I even uploaded this as a plugin, my Herder Hut, if you want to download it. But they have this massive marketplace with all these different plugins people have built and released. It really is amazing. You can see all your workspace overviews, whole bunch other things in here. People are constantly shipping. It really is a very strong community, uh the Amachi community. Highly recommend checking out uh the plugins as well. And

19:23what's great is is like there's nothing to be gate kept here cuz if you think of a plugin to build, you just go to your agent say, "Hey, build this plugin and put it on the app store." And it just goes there and it's there. It's so easy to contribute to the community. And lastly, games. Basically, every game works on it very very well. So, you can have Steam. You open up Steam. All the games you would play show up. You can install them, play them, anything you want. It also has Battle.net, which is great. So, I'll show you my favorite workflow here. What I uh sneaky like to

19:53do in the middle of the day. So, you hop in in a game. I'm playing the game and I got my Herder HUD here. Can go, click in it, send some prompts to my agents, get some work done, have it working, get back to my game, get in here. I need to get closer. Get into a battle. My agents are working

20:13the entire time. And now you're being productive while you're gaming, which is Now I don't feel as guilty when I'm gaming anymore. It's like these little types of things that you can do on your computer to make it completely custom in your own, right? Anything you want to do. You want to code while you game, you can do it. Anything you want to do, you can just do

20:34it. That's what makes Amachi so awesome. Again, I'm not being paid by these guys. I'm just wildly passionate about it. It really has improved my life and if I can get more people to like break out of their fear of using new operating systems or doing something with Linux uh and improve their lives, that'll make me a very happy person. You learned anything at all, make sure to leave a like down below, subscribe, turn notifications, sign up for my

20:59newsletter. I got a free AI newsletter. It's like the number one AI newsletter on planet Earth. Link for that down below. What do you You me to cover next? Got some new Hermes workflows, happy to go through that. Want me to show more power tips for Amachi? Want me to get back into chat GPT 5 6 Astra? Let me know in the comments, too. Hope this was helpful. I cannot wait to see you in the next video. Thank you so much for

21:19watching. See you then.
