0:00I used to think building [music] an AI SARS requires a ton of compute power, deep technical knowledge, and years of expertise. [music] But today, I might have been proven wrong. Meet Rob, a non-technical founder [music] who started from scratch, learned everything along the [music] way, and built a micros targeting a specific niche and solving one clear problem. And here is the interesting part. Just [music] 6 months after going allin, he's generating over 3,000 in monthly recurring revenue. [music] But that's not all. He also managed to keep his cost so low that his profit margin is over 80%. How did he pull pull this off
0:45without [music] a technical background? How did he build a profitable AI sauce without [music] spending a fortune? And what does he understand about building a SAS that the rest of us might be missing out? Let's find out. [music] Hi Rob. Uh thanks for taking the time off for the show. Welcome to the show. So could you introduce yourself to the audience and tell us about what you have
1:06built. So my name is uh Robango. [music] Uh I have built Vetool. It's my first uh successful SAS. Uh I've made money with uh Vetool. It's a PJ to SVJ. It's just to transform uh a PJ into SVJ at first [music] and after that it's I have changed a lot uh some things to become
1:35export machine. So mainly it's for creating SVG content if I am right. [music] Yeah in in first yeah exactly. So can you tell us a bit more about your background? How you got into building a SAS product like this? Um I'm miles away from digital stuff. Um I have start working in landscaping in at my 16. So 10 years ago [music] and for 3 years after I have done two years of plaster board. After that I changed my life and I start to dig into crypto area and [music] I discover the developer side India etc. Two year after that uh I have create an digital agency in Djon in
2:25France and that's not working pretty good and I I don't like to to sell myself self services and etc. So with my co-ounder we all in on creating SAS and so uh yeah just after that the end of 25 we launch a bunch of SAS of small SAS and also vector sol on the batch. Okay. And uh in f at the start of 26 I have a a very good traction like uh I have made a big update on SEO
3:06and after the the machine work. So let's let's walk through the uh the apps that you've uh that you have built. You said you've done a bunch of apps. So can you just tell briefly about those before you started with this? Yeah. So in my um in my mind I wanted to to launch a lot of SAS because I think we we need to to more diversify everything and that's my strategy. Uh so I have launched a lot of small SAS and I see where the traction come and for [music] Victor solve I have a very big senior that working like I have 100 people every day come on the website a
3:54lot of subscription [music] uh just on a user at first before ma making money I have like one around 1,000 user but just on the free uh the free side. Yeah. I I don't know where I go with with that. Okay. So the initial like four or five apps like can you give their names and
4:18like what exactly were they solving? Okay. Um so yeah I have created this with I'm a a early very early user of manus I think you know the AI and [music] with manus I have prep a big task with all of uh of all of my stack I use like Nexjs Versel superbase everything and I just say to manus create uh create a new micros with benchmark and everything and I I have done this like 20 time [music] and I choose the good one and I have a big uh folder with a lot of small sink just uh just need [music] uh del a lot of uh I think I I have the
5:13domain name yeah generated that's completely uh completely random that's not me It's all manus idea. So you brainstorm with the AI itself in order to come up with ideas for your app. Exactly. I don't have choose a sector I am good at. Okay. I It's like a random stuff and I build around this random stuff.
5:39Yeah. I see. Okay. Interesting. And those things didn't have any traction so you just gave up those. Exactly. [music] And how did you end up with Vectoroft then? Was it also from the AI idea, AI brainstorming or was it all by yourself? for Victor solve u he fix a little problem I have at first [music] uh sometime I have a lot of bi because because of uh AI don't do victory at first so I have a lot of small projects so a lot of small uh logo and everything so I needed to vectorize so with vector solve I fix my problem but [music]
6:27only with SEO. Okay. like I have a small traction because I send my the vector soft to to bunch of friends and he used [music] them and I see on the search console more people come and more people subscribe to the free chair and after that like I remember exactly because uh I learned a lot in the in the start of fe February And it's very very yeah early on the day like at 5 5:00 a.m. I don't have sleep also and I I thinking about oh I can make it works for veto solve and I say let's go I go to I put all language
7:18[music] I make like 1,000 uh 1,000 page and with that um like two weeks after I have 10x my uh my user uh and the [music] traffic come on the website just with SEO. Okay. And [music] it it fix everything and after that I have learned a lot a lot about SEO backlink uh domain reference and
7:45everything. SEO is one thing I get to hear a lot from um solo founders. So let's dive into SEO maybe. How did you go about uh so fixing the SEO like what are the steps you took? [music] So I have in first see all my uh concurrence. No concurrence. Yeah. The yeah the other company doing the same thing as me. So I see the the niche and [music] I benchmark the the keyword and after that I say to to my AI to code uh we're going to build a big uh structure of SEO. So [music] input uh 12 language uh and add like 20 new landing page with uh like a PNG to
8:37SVJ at first but after I have done JPEG to SDJ uh all export we can do like this and [music] uh with that I have I have really improved my SEO but to choose some keyword specific keyword add all language you you can maybe I think now it's uh Google have had a big update so it changed a lot now you don't need to to have a 12 language I think okay okay so just one language would do we don't have to have 12 language so can we say you started with JPEG to SVG and then you sort of you sort of expanded from that to like PNG to SVG and all
9:27those things. [music] Uh yeah when it it's start working also in the side of SEO I have learn about backlink. So [music] I have uh make some lunch uh lunch on peer push uh product [music] end reddit also uh all the small uh the small basics for SEO and after I have traction and a lot of user I see I don't make money all of the February I don't make money but I have 10 time user I don't know why people don't don't pay for that and my oh I have fixed that it's to change the free tier so at first you can do 25 conversation
10:20that's not not uh not possible for to make money with that so I have changed to three [music] conversation okay free conversion and after that I have the the the the first payment and everything working every day. I have payment [music] every day and um every time uh people pay and use and I have a lot of uh feedback like that's not working. Uh you can change that, you can change that. Oh, it's possible to to have the export for this one like I I've
11:01learned a new world. a new world. Yeah. Like CAD, CAD, uh C CNC, a lot of export machine. Okay. Because I see the people come to my website. It's not only people just need to uh make PJ to SVJ. It's people to want SVJ but with some upgrade like [music] for the Yeah. CAD. It's a plan like you have a a plan with a lot of uh I don't have the word in English but it's complex complex task
11:41for people. Okay. Okay. And I have improved my product like this and also add a new landing page and [music] bunch of article. Yeah. In the SEO strategy I have made 200 article on my blog. Okay. Okay. Yeah. So you've added more blog articles. So that were that were indexed by Google and then now your page landing page ranks higher. So is there anything else that you did for SEO particularly other than adding more
12:11articles? Yeah, the basic stuff just a lot of articles, language [music] and farm a little bit of backlink on the product and credit and other and after that like two months after I have make a new update on SEO. Okay. So I have do a mailing to other blog like on my niche to to exchange
12:43back link. Okay. Okay. So you started contacting other people to to kind of exchange backlinks. So that came later after you initially did some writing some blogging and all that. [clears throat] Yeah. Exactly. Okay. That completely makes sense. [music] So what sort of AI tools do you use when you build the app or do you currently so in general like tell us
13:07about how you use AI? Uh I use uh too much I think I use uh only uh for uh programmation for coding. Okay. [music] uh every day uh like 12 hour per day. I think I talk more than AI to human but um oh I used to create a project like vector sol. So if I have an idea I go directly to to cloud code but before um [music] I use I use the code or manus or other other AI but okay 90% of the time it's code but before last year I use a lot of manus because he he can do a big scrapping task so he
13:59go to search the last keyword for the the more keyword used [music] or just research. So uh yeah I I build the idea and benchmark with AI [music] and after I I make a MD and put to cloud code and after it's [music] just a exchange with cloud code. Okay. And after I build and I deploy on my Okay. So you do a kind of brainstorming and then come up with the MD file and then you put that MD file into claude and then you sort of start a
14:37conversation based on that MD file. [music] Exactly. That's the the way the way work. Yeah. Sounds very good. And there's one more thing that I wanted to touch upon on the u SEO side. So what sort of tools do you use? For example, some people use [music] ahref and some people use all this kind of stuff in order to search for keywords. Uh for me uh I just uh mainly use the search console and make export and give to code and after I do some research but uh like six months [music] 5 months ago I have I just use same rush okay to just have the data but it don't
15:20change a lot of things. It's just to to see what happened. I [laughter] I I love the the the law of parto 80% do the 20% working. I have to talk to explain in English but yeah yeah yeah understand [music] okay so I don't take too much detail on SEO I just do a bunch of task and maybe it's not very implement [music] very good if I'm not very good at the implementation that doesn't matter [music] I have done and I go to the other task and I think it's working better or not better but more faster and after I can I
16:07can uh improve it. That makes sense. So do you have any tips for the viewers who on how to use AI for building this kind of software? Yeah, don't take too much time on detail and just push your [music] website or your SAS online and after you're going to improve it and ask for feedback. the the main of the work is to [music] have a lot of feedback. That's the way to improve very fast your product and see what people want on the internet or on
16:42your app. Yeah. So for getting the feedback, so do you go to any forums or where exactly do you get feedback from [music] the users? At first a lot of user so I just ask and user just ask directly uh on my uh on my email but uh yeah on Reddit I think it can be very very good and very faster to have feedback also on X but it's more and more complicated now I think to have a little bit uh visibility because if you share your product you're going to have maybe 20 impression but that you don't have feedback or maybe what I don't have done but I know it's working
17:32is to directly uh send a message on X or also Instagram or on other social media to ask and talk with people build stuff or in or as in your niche like [music] Okay. Uh maybe need your product. Yeah. People maybe need your product. You can ask and just give a free chair to try your
17:59product and give a feedback in exchange. Yeah. So what is your framework to kind of build a SAS business from scratch today? Like you've done it so many times and and you have one product that's really clicked and it's like going exponentially. So now uh I do the same the same uh I I have the same workflow.
18:21Uh I have an idea. I just see if people paid for that or no and uh I launch it like uh I just do MD go to my computer give to CL code and after I I start I start working like this. And now everything is more easy. I don't know it's more easy because uh AI [music] it's is smarter than before but I have improved my workflow around the create [music] multiple SAS. So now uh I have a process to for the design after to put on the website after to launch the website and it's more and more easy and the AI it's too good now. So yeah the the workload
19:16doesn't change. Uh if you have an idea just put put them online. It cost a little bit for €20 or $20. You can just put your website online and that's it. You pay your domain name and That's true. That's very true. Talk through the tech stack that you use, [music] the kind of tools, the servers
19:37and everything. Like I say, uh I use mainly CL code. It's my my best [music] friend. I have a free subscription. Uh that's crazy. For the design, for example, I use Rec. I recommend Recraft. [music] It's very cool. the stuff he he build more the time pass less I use other AI because now we have the MCP and we build a lot of things uh with open source like now for the content and the [music] carousel and post and everything I use okay and that's it yeah and in terms of building your stack so um do you use NexJS and like what the
20:24cloud that you use and all those things. My first stack it's uh I use NexJS [music] only. uh for some website I use uh Astro or HTML CSS the easy stuff but it's for website not web app for web app only next JS and uh in first I used versel in superbase a lot but more you have a project and more you have user and more it's expensive so with my co-ounder we we build infrastructure with Edner It's a German
21:02uh data center. Okay. And because we are in Europe, so it's good for us and that's a very very cool [music] uh cool company. Okay. We have a good VPS VPS and other other things to to have. Okay. Um so now we have uh a vers and super base but at home like we we have all on the on VPS and [music] we can uh make more automation and we can connect all project together and that's very very more easy to maintain maintain all project. So we have two VPS one it's versel like and the other it's superb base like for front end back end and and small app to
21:57[music] the to manage. Ah interesting. So do you not use like AWS or GCP or the standard cloud cloud stack? Uh [music] no no no no no. Uh all uh I use cloud fair cloud fair for uh the boat and all a bunch of stuff but uh no I I I just use uh what I say. So do you want to walk us through the numbers like how much the vector solver is making and like and all the related stuff? I can show you everything because I'm very I love [music] the transparency and I think it's it's cool. So yeah, that's the money we make with Victor
22:46Sol. I think I going to show you all of the [music] period. So maybe just the Emir can talk. So like I said just before uh to January to February a lot of user come [music] but uh I needed to fix the the pricing at the end of February. I have the first payment and have the first Mr. the 28th at very end of February and after that uh I have made I make like updates every day on the SEO and take the feedback and ask my user [music] and every time past every week I have more and more user the MR explos explode at uh [music]
23:37in uh April. Yeah, I can clearly see some exponential growth there. So that's all we wanted to see kind of like thanks so much for sharing that. You started monetizing by end of February and right now you're like still in an exponential trajectory like which is great. So can you also uh just show us vector solve and walk us through like how people can use the
24:00product how simple it is? I think it's a product uh not for developer. I think it's for people just don't know. Oh, PNG and SVG for non tech people I think. Okay. [music] But uh you can use uh with the API. So [music] so uh we're going to show use that before like the the front uh so it's a easy uh [music] and cute uh front end. Uh the first time you come on the website it's like this [music] and you put uh your logo directly you vectorize and after you can just download it. You
24:44you have one for free now. Mhm. So you just download [music] it's a a little bit little bit tricky because you can download it directly but I show the pricing [music] and it's you know it's a pattern to sell the product. Yeah sure. So you can just download your SVG and that's it. Okay. [music] For working more on the product, you have a a dashboard with everything you can do. Uh this one is for the
25:16semi-professional dozer and everything. Yeah, I can't explain you very quickly the the niche of people use use Victor really for doing something in real life. [music] So cricket cut I you I don't know if you know what is it after you have laser cutting it's to to make logo on wood to cut steel or everything. Yeah. So all these tools they mainly convert file from one format to another or is there anything more than that? for all of niche it's a different format uh the machine need okay like for cricket it's completely different than lazer you can see here we have the machine I have in input on the
26:06it's different [snorts] on different machine like it's crazy or it's very very complex okay okay so they can choose the output format for specific for that machine and then they can just download. Exactly. [music] Exactly. And it's the same for all of the niche for Vinnie Loazi and and now I focus mainly on improve product for
26:31people need this. Yeah, [music] sure. So, how much of AI is going on behind all these tools? uh one AI uh before I use uh recraft on a to do the SVG but now we use [music] a a script uh it's a open source model okay uh to to make the SVG and also all the export it's a comp uh [music] complex script in JavaScript and that's it sure yeah okay completely makes sense so if we on a website if we go under tools
27:09like there's a bunch of AI tools. Yeah. Like Yeah. [music] So what are those used for? Is it more like a bait to get the customers or uh at first it's the vector service it's [music] AI retracing. Okay. But now it's like I have distilled the AI to put on the script. It's also AI. When people come with come to me with a a new model or new export, it's uh I need the AI to trace everything and put an [snorts] update on the script. So it's like u [music] the AI do the work and also to have a small margin [music] I need to put on
28:00script to to be uh to be more scalable. Yeah. Thanks so much for uh walking through the product. Um [music] Robin uh you can probably unshare your screen and like we can go back to chatting. So what is the biggest lesson you would say you've learned in your journey of building this SAS? Um Victor Serve it's my my small baby. It give me u it gives me the the hope to to continue to build SAS and it's my real first money online without [music] uh selling services. But he learned me a lot about SEO SEO stuff like crazy. Oh, oh, I have dig on the the SEO ecosystem
28:47like you can buy a backlink, you can sell it also, [music] you can uh exchange, you can um just uh go on a specific keyword that uh [music] uh yeah the I I learned everything about SEO with Vetool. A good customer support. [music] It's very important to to take care of your customer and understand why it's not um happy with your product and how you can change that. I have a lot of um first impression. People are [music] angry and um at the end I have fixed everything and people say, "Oh, it's not possible. You're too too good at at this. I going to use Victor Sol of my
29:37life or Wow. Okay. Yeah, that's crazy. All people Yeah, you [music] need to take care of your customer and that's Victor. um learn me all of all of this. Yeah. Okay. And when you interact with the customers, is it do you directly write emails or is there any other way you interact with them? Uh yeah. Uh mainly on email but u I have uh put a crisp. It's a chatbot. It's like email but with messenger and chatbot for it's more it's easy for customer and for me to to talk together with that but uh yeah have a chatbot it's a a good way to retain [music]
30:27people and so going back to the product I missed one question so how do you kind of decide what sort of features you want to build on vector solve for example do you have some features in pipeline for the next few weeks and how did you decide on that? So I build the features it's only uh 80% of the time it's a people need something. [music] So when I people need something I just put on the website and on my SAS and that's it like he solve uh [music] my customer solve the problem of
31:03other customer. Okay. And [music] uh sometime I have some idea to just improve the UI u UX u UX [snorts] uh to be more uh comfortable and improve the mobile version or everything but uh to [music] add more traffic like I can say I uh I have implement Gemini to [music] the last uh the last update of Germany to create SVG like I put uh some AI keyword to uh to have more traffic and also that's what I uh the next update I going to do on vector it's to very perfectly uh create uh SVG and okay without create logo like PJ you create directly SVG you can modify and animate
31:57and everything uh customer uh give me uh the update okay makes sense And once you have a new feature like this, so do you email them or like [music] what how do you go about letting others know that that's there? uh uh I don't do too much because I work on uh [music] a lot of other project but um yeah I think it's a good way to to to give update to your customer but I don't do it because [music] uh we don't talk about it but uh on the on the stripe you can see I have a like I make uh two uh Yeah, 3k dollar but I
32:45have just 1,500 mr and dollar. It's because a [music] lot of people like uh 50% of people come to Vetool just [music] take a one time payment uh with a credit pack. It's not user or cricket and everything. It's just user need to p it to SVJ [music] and also like 50% of my customer don't want email. I have tried a lot but I don't have a very good uh conversion [music] like for five 5,000 mail I I
33:26have like uh 10 response maybe. Okay, it's crazy or that's not working very good. Maybe it's my fault. [music] I'm not good at at it. So, I got to improve it. Okay. But yeah, to stay update, you can send an email. Right. Okay. That's all sounds very good. Like you spend a lot of time explaining to us a lot of things that's
33:50really helpful for everyone, I believe. But um what's one piece of advice you want to leave for the audience or people who want to build SAS like yourself? Don't put too much effort on detail. I see too many people just don't launch or uh the SAS because or website because he he want to make the perfect the perfect things and that's not working like this like all the people have sass working [music] make money you don't care about details details you do when you make a lot of money and the details come with feedback back. So to have feedback, you need to have something online. So yeah, don't don't
34:38lose don't lose your time on the [music] details. That's all very nice. Yeah, nicely said. Thank you for so much for taking the time off for us today. And is there anything else you want to add to kind of wrap things up? Uh, no. Thank you to you to to send me an email and ask to to this the to this interview because I'm not a a very big founder. [music] Um I just a small SAS working and I do a bunch of stuff around this. I have an e-commerce and also I I build a big company in France. So, it's around SAS and everything. And also, I have a a
35:21YouTube channel. Go to Rob. Uh, like I vlog everything. And um, if you want [music] to see me a little bit more, I have some uh YouTube channel. I saw Rob in India. It's another one. But I just took my camera, talk in front, and send online. [music] Sure. Yeah. I'll share in the description of the video. Uh, thank you
35:42so much. All those details. Yeah. [music] Okay. Yeah. It was a pleasure having you, Robin.
