0:00hello I wanted to talk a little bit about personal assistants and create a video for X and it's cool to create different videos for different platforms because I will use different language so I do love X because we get to be super technical on here but yes this is not sponsored I just am really genuinely liking dots the phone call functionality does not work great that being said this is my first personal assistant experience where I trust that it has the relevant context across my Gmail across my Uber Eats across Airbnb across all the things that I've given it access to and it actually feels like it's up managing me
0:44so the way I use dots is throughout the day as I'm in flow with whatever project I'm currently on as I think of all of these different things and ideas I will just push it to dots to triage so I'm gonna go through and see what I've been using it for and share it here
1:07okay let me pull it up
1:12okay so I have a lot of brainstorm ideas for content that I don't necessarily have time to post in that minute but then I have reminders to call my doctor on the East Coast I have the three goals I wanna get done on a given day so this is pretty much lifted me out of Notion where I'm diving deeply into spaces but where I'm up managed and led by the agent so I have a space which is very similar to Notion like a doc for all of October I have my three high level goals for October and then every single day I try to have three goals that feel front of mind
1:51that feel ambitious and Dot's job that I've tasked it with is to orient me to make sure I'm doing those goals the analogy here is like big rocks versus sand and I think it's so easy throughout the course of the day to have your attention pulled from you to be context switching back and forth and this actually lets me push back on my time where it's just constantly reminding me throughout the day okay here are your three goals did you get this done if not let's make some hard choices and move some things around so it's also helped me I've just gotten back to San Francisco after being away for a while
2:24with scheduling all of these deliveries and pickups it's actually calling the Uber Couriers or Uber for me let's see what else it's doing it's adding to my calendar which is really helpful so obviously like OpenClaw and Hermes have had versions of this I just think the experience and competence of dots has worked very well for me and I know that I don't have to go under the hood as I would for my OpenClaw to fix things so when I have so many different agents and agentic products and things I'm working on for clients it's nice to expect that dots is just gonna work and if something is buggy like the phone call feature
3:00I just expect that the OpenAI team will fix it probably very soon and we'll just hold off on using it but I just see myself brain dumping throughout the day so after I finish like an hour of client work I'm brain dumping that I'm like okay I really have to go for a run and then dots is like scheduling in and prompting me for when I should do the things I said that I was gonna do
3:22reminding me what my door code is for the Airbnb helping me prioritize so I think what's also helpful about AI personal assistance is it helps reduce the gap in what we say our motivations and intentions are and what our actual behavior is so it's so human to have like one intention and an actuality behave a different way so if I say for example I really want to dedicate time towards lead gen for my agency pipeline what's been helpful over the past week is I see dots actively correcting me towards that prioritization when it's so easy for other things to stack up before that and then there's an emotional layer to this too
4:06that has actually been helpful for me so uh even around complaining about the Wi-Fi at where I'm staying it's been really helpful for dots to actually send the messages to the person responsible so I'm not in the platform sending any messages dots doing that on my behalf which is really helpful looking up phone numbers for different shops or even my doctor and then just giving me the phone number
4:33also giving me scripts for phone calls so I have to call Santander on Monday I have my script prepped I have my schedule on Monday and just trust that dots is gonna surface that to me at the right time so yeah I would say the high level here is dots feels like the first personal assistant that is actually effective at triaging things so I'm just pushing all my thoughts and pain points to dots which is the chat that I have opened throughout the day now and trusting that dots is going to put it in the right spot even if that's in a Spaces doc for me to check out later
5:11and up manage me and I also have it integrated with X right now so if I posted something like hey I'm looking to do more road bike activities in SF it is actually watching that reply thread also doing some filtering and then pinging me within our chat if someone uh comment something relevant or helpful so I saw one of the OpenAI employees talk about that workflow and in general I think this is so open ended that it's been really useful to see people talk about the workflows they're finding most effective yeah so it just feels like I'm looking through the chat right now and it's going in so many different uh
5:51directions because it's my brain being really multi threaded and pushing everything to dots even down to me placing a shopping order and I task dots with hey like watch my emails for when the shopping order is close to coming cause I wanna be at the door in case there's any delivery issues for this and then the emotional layer is quite helpful so I also talked about this but a couple nights ago I was feeling sick and didn't really feel like eating but I was in flow state with something else so I just kind of told dots I'm feeling sick I'm not feeling good I just wanted to complain to something and dots encouraged me to eat
6:27which was really helpful but then uh I was like okay are you integrated with my Uber Eats and it was and responded with why don't you get miso soup and chicken teriyaki uh knowing that and I had talked to it before about my food preferences and I just very quickly was like okay yes sounds good it confirmed the total amount and then within like 30 minutes it just showed up at my door so it's cool I mean that was my first experience in a while of feeling like cared for by an AI system which was kind of trippy but my the reason I'm so excited about this is really around the context
7:01like I trust the chat GPT system and OpenAI team to be responsible with my Gmail context with all the integrations I'm giving it and as I'm pushing more I trust that dots is going to be calibrated to my food taste to my shopping taste to my integrations and in that way will be effective at triaging and recommending and executing on all of these separate like workflow ideas that I have so I feel excited about this because it feels like a system that I could see myself having for at least three months which feels like the most that any of us could look ahead into the future
7:36at this point but I could see this replacing Notion for me to be honest and it makes me want to keep giving it more context to explore more workflow so I'm really excited for the phone feature to be more reliable because I do like to lean heavily into voice and want to see what dots is able to pull out of my brain dumps right now I'm doing a lot of brain dumps over text but even on my run today I would have wanted to be on a phone call with dots and also change the voice I don't think you could change the voice right now uh and just brainstorm what my day looks like
8:11trusting that it is going to align me over time so yeah so far really enjoying it I want AI to align me to my goals to reduce the gap between what my intentions are and what my behavior is and this just feels very promising to me like I'm willing to wait out some of the bugs and sometimes dots not answering etcetera because I feel like this is a system I could have for the next 3 months so yeah curious what your thoughts are I know I've seen like really mixed reviews on dots especially from folks that have their OpenClaw or Hermes system very well set up
8:46but the differentiator here for me feels like the stability with all the context and integrations and knowing that I don't have to put extra work in underneath the hood cool thanks for watching
