0:00if you are currently feeling extremely lethargic or highly unfocused throughout your days I bet your morning is not being optimized you see I truly believe in the power of establishing the right type of footing with something called momentum momentum is the name of the game if you can establish momentum the remainder of your days tend to be a success now then the question might be how do we achieve momentum while with the right type of habits upon waking up Mel Robbins has an incredible quote that's as never let your mood dictate what you do always take action first because movement changes your mood that's what we're attempting to do we

0:36want the right type of habits to create momentum and if you can imagine it's the idea of you rolling a ball downhill the morning routine habits are you pushing that ball down the hill so the remainder of your day can be a little bit easier than if it wasn't initially done with those types of habits in the first place my name is Junu if you're new to the channel welcome if you're returning welcome back these habits are ones that I've embedded within my own morning routine and I've really tried to make it extremely extremely practical so that you can learn from this video you can immediately Implement them and then

1:11hopefully reap the benefits relatively soon so sit back relax and enjoy the video ask me any questions in the comments I'd be more than happy to respond give this video a thumbs up and of course subscribe number one have a realistic wakeup time and I feel that when we immediately enter this realm of productivity or self-growth

1:30you hear about waking up at 5:00 a.m. and we believe that perhaps the only way that you can have success is by waking up extremely early actually in our mentorship program my accountability partner hammed he's incredible and currently he's trying to figure out a way that he can start his mornings off on a better footing and so he asked hey June I am having a really hard time waking up extremely early in the morning my first question to him was what is that optimal time for you just because I wake up at 5:00 a.m. just because I personally wake up at that time doesn't necessarily mean that you have to for me

2:06that works well but for you it might not so when we had gone through the discussions of what does the Knight look like prior for you well he has more responsibilities later in the day which means that he's not necessarily able to go to bed as early as I am that means that he's not getting the 7 to 8 hours of quality sleep which makes sense cuz then he wasn't feeling so well when it hit about noon and he started to crash a little bit so the idea is whatever time works well for you stick to it for our body circadian rhythm we want to ensure

2:37that we have a regular sleep schedule not just Mondays through Fridays but I really do mean throughout your weekends too so if you think that if you wake up at a certain time throughout your week and then on Saturday Sunday you don't wake up till noon perhaps that's not necessarily the healthiest approach maybe we can find an even medium that works for you all 7 days so we can ensure that our circadian rhythm is regulated the way that it needs to be and you'll find that a huge commonality across everything that I talk about when it comes to our morning routine video we had one that you guys seem to thoroughly

3:09enjoy is the idea of practicality right it doesn't matter about the 7 8 9 10 11 12 step morning routines that you see online if you can't actually stick to them right is there a lot of value in a lot of those sure and can it work for some people sure but for a lot of us that have to go to school for a lot of us that have work it's not necessarily going to be practical to try and follow that long of a morning routine so we want to be looking at where are we going to get the most value then making it a bit more Compact and simple for

3:39ourselves so that we can remain consistent with it and that's where you start to see the benefits of a morning routine over time number two an extremely important habit have a separate alarm clock from your phone I have found myself entering a really bad habit Loop for much of my life and it kind of looks like this I will wake up up and I would go to my phone I would mute the alarm clock and then I would scroll through my apps and then just start mindlessly going and the issue with that is when we're talking about how movement changes your mood you're doing the complete opposite there right

4:13you're staying stagnant you're staying in place and then you're probably consuming content that isn't necessarily uplifting we know that negative content tends to do well but not just negative inherently like it's evil or it's or there's gossiping cuz I know that there's content like that out there too but even if it's mindless right and then putting yourself in a position where you're not taking action where you're not moving your body that's why you tend to feel really lethargic so you can immediately disrupt that habit loop with a separate alarm clock and have your phone actually and I always do this I put my phone completely away from my bed

4:45I don't want to be able to reach it I don't want to be able to touch it and actually I I will go pretty quickly into my Peak productivity window and I'll speak on some of that here in a little bit but because of that I don't even have my phone near my desk my vicinity at all it kind of remains just in my kitchen area until I need to use it later on and that ensures that I can take action and start building that momentum number three get sunlight we know that our circadian rhythms are heavily impacted by light and natural light doesn't necessarily only produce

5:14the neurotransmitters associate with alertness but it also ensures that when it gets later on in the day that you're actually feeling tired so it regulates the Circadian rhythm the way that we want it to so if you can imagine getting sunlight is almost pressing start and if you press art we know that for the part of your day that you want to be alert where you're going to work where you're being around people where you are at school you have that ability to be focused but then you also know that again when it's later on the night that you want to feel tired that you're actually feeling tired at that period of

5:48time so getting sunlight is extremely extremely helpful for this I mean you can even spend just 15 minutes whether you are able to just walk outside or you want to just sit on your porch or your balcony however you want to go about this and I also know that some of us wake up earlier than when the Sun rises and that's okay so what I'll do is I'll open up my window so when the sun does come up I can experience it and I can see it right away but also I will turn on artificial lights especially around my desk area from a position that's higher up to mimic that type of

6:20experience with sunlight and that has shown in research to also have a similar type of benefit in terms of making you feel awake and so that's a nice substitute until the sun does rise but then I think that when it does you should actually spend some time outside and having the benefits of sunlight in general doesn't have to be long and actually in fact it's very very important that you do this on overcast AIDS as well it's not just when the sun tends to be very very clear in the sky but also even if it's cloudy or spending that time will will have those benefits number four limiting phone use and I

6:56already spoke about disrupting The Habit Loop by having a separate clock than your phone but in general I really don't think there's any good reason for you to immediately use it and if you do that there are Focus apps that will limit your usage of social media apps so that you can be focused with whatever you need to access for that morning block of yours but in general I find that to be such a huge huge distraction and I know I covered it already but the idea is to establish momentum and I really do think that this thing is like the opposite of that and trust me my phone is really

7:30really important for Content creation Etc but I am very very very sure that when I do that I am certainly not using it for any other reason aside from my work even when it comes to responding to emails when it comes to responding to messages on slack when it comes to responding to text I will wait until my morning block is over because I want that to be a time that I can establish the right type of footing um and that requires me to actually have some movement and get a little bit more in tune with my work before I tend to do any of those types of tasks number five

8:03another habit that has really really transformed my life and especially my productivity is to get into your Peak productivity window as soon as you can right and I think that I strayed away from that for so long because I was watching other content that made these morning routines extremely elaborate but I found of course there's some habits I'm not necessarily including this list that you would find in my morning routine walk through some things like my daily devotionals that I would do to help me set my intentions for the remainder of the day but in general I found that as I can limit and consolidate what I actually do in the

8:36mornings to of course establish the right type of footing and the momentum then just getting to this desk initiate the work session that I need to initiate which is that Peak productivity window for me is huge and if you're not necessarily familiar with that term that I use a lot PE productivity window simply means a 90 minute to a 3-hour block that matches both your heightened energy level along with when you're distraction free now I have a very very very busy day ever since I was in high school right I took a lot of classes in high school I played Sports all throughout my high school in almost

9:08every single season and then also in college has been crazy so no matter what this is what I would do every single term I would find when my earliest class would be and usually they're like 8:00 a.m. but in high school I had to leave my house about at 650 a.m. and so I would even wake up 90 minutes before and that's when I started to wake up very consistently at around 5:00 a.m. because I found that that's when I definitely don't have any external distractions doesn't necessarily mean that I'm always heightened in my energy levels at that point but I always would prioritize that period because that would mean I would

9:44always move the needle on a daily basis it would ensure that all of my most demanding tasks would get done where I would make really good progress towards that and I found that what you can do a lot of times to establish a good morning routine is have a good night routine right there are things that you can do the night prior to set yourself up for Success the morning after it allows you to go through the habits that we've just mentioned and also initiate the peak productivity window seamlessly without necessarily too much friction right and so what I will do the night prior is ensure that I have whatever assignment

10:18or whatever task whatever schedule laid out for me I will ensure that I would have done some sort of the leg work a lot of times so for example when I was writing the Learning System book it's on my desk right now for that I would always do it in my P productivity window but I would plan what I would be writing at least structurally the day before when I don't necessarily need too much brain power then I'll go in in that morning and have that 90-minute 3-h hour block where I am just writing right so I'm setting myself up for success I don't have my phone near me I don't have

10:47any distractions and I'm ensuring that I get that work done I found that that's probably the best way to ensure that you're being productive on a daily basis right to skip a lot of the nonsense and just jump into the areas that are actually extremely beneficial and are going to hold a lot of utility for you moving forward so I know that we had spoken about a lot throughout this video there's a common theme of making your routine realistic which means that you're setting a time for yourself in the morning that you can actually stick to then we spoke about having a separate alarm clock from your phone so you can

11:20disrupt The Habit Loop and then we spoke about the importance of getting sunlight to initiate your days to press start on your days ensure that you are also getting drowsy when you need to be it later on and number four we talked about limiting your phone usage and number five we talked about trying to initiate your PE productivity with know as quickly as possible again there are a lot of different habits that we've included in the morning routine walk through but in general the idea throughout both of these videos is the same keep it extremely simple so that you can stick to it and that's how

11:51you're actually going to have longevity in any type of routine these should be your anchor points these should be the things that you look to do again on a very very consistent basis so I hope that this video helped if you have any questions if I missed any habits that you believe are important please leave them in the comments below give this video a thumbs up and of course subscribe until next time I love you guys take care of yourselves and I'll see you all at the top [Music]
