This is the full transcript of I gave 10 AI agents real jobs. Here's what they did, published on YouTube by The Next New Thing. Every paragraph carries the moment it was spoken, so you can click any line to jump straight to that point in the video, search the whole thing for a word, or copy it out.
0:00I run [snorts] my business and my life using GrokBot. It manages my real estate for me, it gets me publicity, it gets rid of my junk, and it even improves my marriage. If you want to do more with your agents, you need to see this. I asked my GrokBot to go find screenshots of all the things it does for me. I'm
0:15going to walk you through it right now. Let's get into it. Presented by Zapier, the AI automation company. The first use case I want to show you is publicity because I suck at promoting myself. I hate to tweet, I hate to tell people on LinkedIn, I never post on Instagram what I do. And so, I wanted to get better cuz I know that it's actually good for business. So, here's what I did. I went to GrokBot and I created an agent called Perry, and it said, "How How do you want to start? What do you want to do?" And I said, "Here. I want you to find ideas
0:41for things that I could promote that I achieved and I've done. Search my email, Slack, YouTube comments, and here's what I want you to do with it." And so, it started to hunt for these things. And I also wanted it to put it in a document so that I could I can use it in the
0:55future. And so, one day on October 3rd, it said, "Here's my idea for you." cuz every day it sends me three ideas. It said, "Essentially, I noticed that you talk about GrokBot using your Claude code subscription and your Codex a lot." So, you by looking at my transcripts, by looking at my Slack, he can see what I'm excited about. And it said, "Here's what you could do to promote how you use it, teach it." And so, it gave me some ideas for what I could teach about how someone
1:22could do this. So, it's finding things that I get excited about genuinely and can't wait to talk about, and then it's suggesting ways for me to not just promote it, but to teach it so that it's useful. So, I did. I wrote this up and I said, "Here's how you can do this right now, how you can add uh your Claude subscription, your OpenAI
1:39subscription, and others to GrokBot." And the post did well. And then, Elon Musk posted it and said, "True." And it obviously it took off. And the reason I'm showing you that is because this isn't just some slop that gets written for me by AI. The GrokBot PR agent is finding things that I'm genuinely excited about and I might be a little bashful like oh I don't know the world doesn't need to know why should I and say hey Andrew you excited about this use you could teach people here's how you could teach it and because you're so excited about it you're probably going to want to go and
2:09run with it. Here's the other cool thing that it did the very next day it said here's your morning drop with three wins that you can show off about said your Claude codex post took off overnight you got 400,000 views and Elon Musk said true so how about a follow-up answering the replies that you got. And it's it basically said here are the things that people told you that they were curious about write that up. And so I said you know what let's see what it looks like when you write it up and so it wrote it up I didn't really love it but it gave me something to work off of
2:41it's opening was 400,000 people saw my post about connecting Claude and chat GPT to Grok bot I changed it I said after Elon Musk tweeted my guide to connecting Claude and chat GPT to Grok people asked these five questions and then I wrote the questions and the answers and I and I think I leaned heavily on the questions and answers
2:59from here. [snorts] And by the way these answers just came from my responses to people in the comments so they were written in my voice. And so I tweeted it and then Elon Musk says as easy as asking meaning like hey this is a good post this shows you how to do it 2.5 million views and this does it routinely not obviously most of them don't get this many views but it's all stuff that I care about that is about what I'm speaking about with passion internally anyway and it's saying hey you're talking to Lauren about it with passion on your zoom call with her tell the world and I'll go yeah
3:27I'm passionate enough about it I'll I'll tell my wife at dinner why not go and post about it so it's finding these hot button issues and then I want you to see this other thing that it caught. It caught that there was in the comment somebody Greg Rollett a well-known entrepreneur within the self-improvement space he said the SEO the open SEO interview that I did was awesome we started using it instantly after watching that interview and so it gave me an idea for how to tweet this out to say, "Hey, if you do an interview with me, you might get some customers. Look at this example." But, it also added it
3:58to a Notion database that I then get to go use and say, "If I need somebody to do an interview with me or sign up to sponsor or work with me, where are some wins that I could show them?" They're in this database, and I can now grab the screenshot from Greg and send it to a sponsor and say, "Look, here's how people are already using what's in my videos." Okay? All right, that's the first use case. Let's talk about the second one, property management. I have a property that I lived in in Texas until recently. We decided to rent it out. It's now a wellness center, and I
4:25have to do something that I hadn't done before, which is maintain a property. And so, I created Maggie. Maggie helps me maintain a property, and Maggie will will send invoices out and make sure that we get paid and so on. And here's something I want you to see. On September 29th, Maggie saw that there was a wire sent in for exactly the same amount as the as the rent. It came into this account. It looks like it's the
4:46rent payment and so on. And there was no way to tie it in together. The tenant didn't send it in a way that was trackable. I had to actually go call call Schwab to notice this. But, I ordinarily would have missed it. Maggie caught it because I do connect my Grockit to my finances so
5:00that it can pull in data. Um It also does other things like find subscriptions that I should be canceling, give me a sense of whether we're spending more than we should and so on. Okay. Um I want you to see more. There's so much more. Look, I get a bill for garbage from the garbage company. Maggie takes this bill and turns it into an invoice for the tenant, and we put it in Notion so that she can keep track of what's paid and what's not paid in Notion, and then we could then include
5:23our wire information on the invoice. Really good. I got another one that I'm even more excited about. The electric bill comes in comes in. Part of September I was living on the property, part of September the tenant was. You could just kind of split it down the middle, but is it fair? Am I using heavy heavy electricity? I had two electric
5:38cars. The Tesla takes up a ton of power. Is that fair for me to ask her to pay I don't know. But, who cares? I ask him, I ask him, knocked my tea over. I asked Maggie, go create an invoice that's accurate. Maggie freaking the the Grock Bot agent, let's just be honest about
5:52it. Not honest, let's just be clear. It's the Grock Bot agent went in and looked at the kilowatt hours and the price per kilowatt hour and confirmed it from their website because the electric company gives you this stuff and tells you what you pay per day. And for the days that my tenant was on, it created the invoice with that and it specifically showed the tenant how we
6:12got the bill. How great is that? And by the way, notice that this is getting blurred out. All these screenshots is me yesterday while I was waiting my for my food to come in, I was talking with my with my Grock Bot and I said, you go and find actual use cases and put it together. And blur out anything that feels like it's
6:29too personal. That's what it did. This is amazing. Okay, I feel like we're kind of beating a dead horse here by showing any more things about how the utilities are billed and paid for. You get it. Okay. Zapier automation, this is where you're going to switch but you shouldn't. Zapier is my sponsor. I'm all I'm saying that but let me show you
6:43this. This is September bill for Grock Bot. I I one week exceeded my my use of it, you know, my subscription use. And so, I I started say the the the the cursor, their website said, do you want to pay per use or do you want to just stop until your weekly your weekly usage resets? I said, no, I love it too much. Let's just pay per use. And so, look, my bill started coming in. I don't know what this $26 is but the $40 comes in, then $60 comes in, then $80 comes in, then 53. This is all for the course of just a
7:19few days. I think this is like this is all together. It's like just it was just adding adding adding adding adding. So, the next Monday I come in and I go, then why don't you tell me, where is this? What's going on that I'm doing here that's costing so much money? And it said, whenever you have me do an automation, I'm basically waiting and waiting and taking like and that's burning up a lot of your usage. So, for example, if I say, "Look at my calendar for an event." It's just looking and looking and looking and looking. It's just burning tokens uselessly. It shouldn't do that. I said, "If I switch
7:53to Zapier, would that work?" It said, "Yes, because Zapier then can just switch these automations into code. And there's this new thing now called the next gen Zaps that it's intentionally meant to do that." What I talked to Wade about this, the founder, and he said, "Look, when you're having an automation done, it's like paying Albert Einstein or a McKinsey team to go and do something that maybe an intern should be doing at very little money." And so, what they said is, "If there's an automation that's going on and you're giving it to GrokBot, Hermes, etc., why pay for all that? Give it to the next gen Zap. We will use code to turn
8:25that into predictable, cheap processes. And wherever you need your agent, we'll just throw it over to an agent." And that's what I did, and now I no longer have this issue. Okay. And oh, yeah, and I created a whole agent called Zapier that its sole job is go look for ways for me to save money um by switching my my routines to Zapier. Okay. Next, Facebook Marketplace. I'm only putting this in here it not because I I care so much about Facebook Marketplace. This was like a
8:52one-time thing for me. But because all these nudniks who talk about how their Muse agent from Facebook will help them sell on Facebook, these people I think are selling you a lie. The problem with Muse is Muse can't do Well, here, let me show you. I had these two things. Uh actually, I had multiple things, but a trailer, really big thing, I love that freaking trailer. A lawnmower, I love that thing. I drive on it. I needed to get rid of it cuz I couldn't I couldn't
9:16store it while I was traveling. And I listed it, and I made a mistake cuz I'm my head's not in this, and so I I made a mistake. I forget what the mistake was, and I think it was price, and I definitely didn't say enough in the listing. So, I just created a new agent called Marketplace Manager, and I said, "I want you to start uh learn from what I I done, and you start listing it." And so, it started listing these things for me. I could just take a picture and it would list it. Then, what it would do is it could go and respond
9:42to people, which Muse cannot do. Muse needs your permission before it responds. This thing went back and said to all the people who I had accidentally listed the wrong price for the for the trailer, went back to all of them and said, "Hey, I listed it again. Here's the price. Are you interested?" And
9:57start going back and forth with them. This was amazing to me. I actually in the beginning was a little bit like shocked by how much it had done, but then I said, "Who cares? Go do it." You're not spamming people. I really have something to sell. And so it did. And then I gave it some parameters for how to negotiate. It said, "Okay, got
10:11it. Your floor is $100 on her asking." And so on. Here's how you do it. And then I asked it to just keep updating me with what's going on. I didn't even want to be in the loop anymore. Just update me. [snorts] And here, it sold it. Um I want you to see something here. I told you that I didn't create these slides. I do not have I I didn't have the bandwidth to do any of this. I just said, "Tell me some of the things that I've done." I picked the things and then if you need an image, tell me and I'll give you the image. It said, "I need an
10:38image of this." I gave it the image of this um uh of the person who bought my trailer. Here's the part that I want you to notice. It saw that I said, "Blur out things that were sensitive on invoices." It freaking blurred out the license plate of the driver who bought it and the number on the side of this of the
10:55trailer. I'm not someone who cares. Like what are you going to do? Go hunt down the person who bought my trailer and do what? I would never have asked for it. But I loved that it had the sensitivity to do that. This is the thing I love about it. Okay. Um okay, the trailer's gone. Oh, wait, I also coffee maker. I would have tossed it in the garbage. A coffee maker I never used. I I don't have the patience to
11:14deal with it, but it got it sold. Okay. I think I'm I'm doing too much over here. You get the point. Uh blah blah, the offer, the person bought my lawn mower couldn't believe the price was so low, wanted to drive it to make sure. Blah blah, let's move on. Okay. Inbox. Like you, I hate my inbox, and so I created what I call the work mail butler. Every day it does few things for me. Number one, it tells me what it should archive. And now I tell it stop asking me you can archive it. Things that it should unsubscribe and now I say just unsubscribe and then tell me what you
11:42unsubscribe. I could always undo that if I want to. And so it does that every morning for me. It also starts my morning by saying here's the most urgent mail. Now this is a mistake. I I specifically asked it not to give any information about the um the refund that was asked. Obviously I wanted you to see that on October 12th there was a refund that was asked, that it was important and so it flagged it for me. Said good morning, here's the most urgent thing for you today and I
12:05handled it. But the agent that created these slides for me made a mistake. It did it blurred out the parts of the the refund but it didn't blur out the whole one. Here's the thing though that I learned. I had an entrepreneurship professor at NYU who gave us a book called the E-Myth Revisited and he said look, I'm giving this to you because entrepreneurs have this thing that they
12:25do. They will do the work themselves, then they will hand it off to someone else who will not do the work as well as they do and they'll start to take the work back themselves. And I did that in the beginning of my career. I would give someone work and then I would take it back myself or I'd remember the E-Myth and then I would go in and I would micromanage them and say okay, you've got to work until you get this right and I would never grow and my business would
12:47never grow. Eventually I said okay, I need to let go and I need to accept that some mistakes are going to happen and so this mistake happened here. I've seen a couple of other mistakes in these slides, nothing bad but this one I'm going to ask the human editor to go and blur this out. Um and the reason I'm bringing this up is you're going to see me do these things and go and you're going to try it, you're going to have mistakes and you're going to say oh but Andrew said that this works so perfectly. Andrew's overselling it. No, I'm telling you it's making mistakes
13:12sometimes but it's okay. I have to accept it and every day that I use these agents they make less mistakes. When I was first using open claw months ago it was just such a it was it was a dumpster fire. It was terrible but it would do enough that I would just keep working with it. This is very good. It's far from terrible. It's still going to make mistakes. When you see a mistake, don't think Andrew lied to me, Andrew oversold it. Think Andrew told me about the book E-Myth Revisited. I'm going to chill out. I'm going to learn to work with my agent, give it the right
13:40parameters. Okay, physical mail. I signed up for this service that takes all of my mail. I forward it to it. It junks all my junk mail. I love that. That alone is worth paying them. What do they charge? Like 20 bucks a month? You you can go on and you can see what the
13:54actual prices but it's very inexpensive. And then they take the mail that looks like it's not junk. They take a screenshot of it and they put it in a really crappy website that I have to figure out. And I hate it. The whole experience stinks. And so I said, "What do I have to do with this?" I don't. I have an agent. I
14:08create an agent that I call Postman. Every time a new letter comes in like this one from the the DMV of Texas, it sends, "Hey, look, this came in from physicaladdress.com. What do you want me to do with it? Do you or what do you want them to do with it? Do you want them to open and scan it? Do you want them to send it to Olivia? Do you want to just have it forwarded to me and I'll work on it? Do you want to shred it? Do you want to
14:27ignore it? What What do you want to do?" I press a button and it does the work. This is incredible. By the way, this thing was me having to register our car. I pressed the button, open and scan it. It gave me a letter that said you have to you have to register your car. I went to the DMV and it said you cannot register you cannot register electric cars by mail in Texas anymore. You have to do it
14:53I'm sorry, you can't do it on the web. You have to do it in the check. I said, "I don't know what to do." Postman goes, "I could send an email to them to to Hays County where you live and ask them what you could do while you're traveling." I go, "Yeah, do that." First of all, I grew up in New York. I never met a government that will respond to email before. I go, "You do that. You go and you do live your idealistic life. Tell
15:17me what happens." I got a message back. It says, "It turns out you actually had paid it." I go, "All right. That's right. Before I left I paid my registration. And how great is it that the postman, my Grokbot agent could do it? And how great is it that the state of Texas and all their little counties will actually
15:30respond to email? Next, WhatsApp. I hate WhatsApp. Cuz I'm an American. All right. So I created Wally, my WhatsApp agent. Wally now makes it less junky for me because when someone messages me on WhatsApp, all I see is a phone number. I don't know who they are. I don't remember the contacts. If it's even been a month, I forget. So what Wally does is it goes into the messages, it finds the context of who they are, and then it adds them to my address book. And because I still don't know who they are when I when I see their name, it adds in parentheses family. Or you
16:03can see here wife of someone who I know. Or you can see here a TNT guest, a guest of the next new thing, this podcast. You can see all that, right? It's great. I love it. By the way, since I mentioned the podcast, if you like this and my energy, subscribe. My goal is to get to 100,000 subscribers by the end of the year. One thing that I'm too shy about is to ask people to subscribe. And um I'm going to try [clears throat] to do a better job of it. So please subscribe if you like
16:28this thing. Let's move on. Uh what else? I think now we're beating a dead horse. Um so this is me testing it with five people at first cuz I was a little bit sheepish. Then me saying I love how you mention someone's child in their name. I like it. And so this is the back and forth that that happened. Again, my agent put this together. I'll show you later on how it how I interact with the
16:48agent to put stuff like this together. Um I think it's it's overkill on this. Next, address book. My phone's address book, because I've had this iPhone or all iPhones for well over a decade, I have contacts in there that are are duplicated. I have contacts in there who have a first name but not a last name. Well, Grokbot can now manage things on my computer and it has access to my email. So I said use everything you know and fix my address book. And here's how
17:15I did it. I created decks. It's uh it did the first thing it did was it backed it up. I love that it did that. So, now any mistakes that it makes, I have a backup. I could undo it. It's easy. And so, what it said was you have 779 cards in there. Um there is it's I oh, it also added it to Notion. I I was worried that I would lose my computer while traveling, so I had to put it in the cloud also, the backup. It did that. It said, "Next merge it said ba ba ba ba. Here's some of the things that I found. Jesse Pujji
17:42was in there four times. I've known Jesse for over a decade. What is it? Like 15 years now? Over the years, I don't know why. I must have added him multiple times. Um Joe Delaney, uh he's in there twice. Nick Shawn, in there twice and all that. It can find people's last names from email messages because people include their phone numbers in there. It can find it from
18:03all kinds of contacts and it did that. And here, when it was finished, it said, "Look, cleanup is finished. You're down from 7,793 cards to 6,985 cards. 801 were duplicates. They were merged. Nothing was lost or left over and it found all this other stuff." By the way, speaking of issues, I I am noticing a a few things that I would not want my agent to do. Like, why is it
18:24including Jeffrey Barrow's name in here? Shouldn't Jeffrey Barrow I don't know. Shouldn't it blur their name? Like, if you look let me see here. If you look here at one of these previous cards here, you can see it blurred the person's who the person's first name and who the first name of the husband. So, why did it do that here? But then for some reason, Jeffrey Barrow's it felt comfortable adding multiple times. I don't know. It makes mistakes. It makes mistakes. These aren't the end of the
18:51world. I have some I watch over it. [snorts] It's fine. Next, anniversary. I've got two more to show you. Anniversary was October 11th and I created an agent that would help me by sending me twice a day suggestions for what to buy Olivia for her anniversary. And every time it would send me a suggestion to earrings or something, I would Not every time. I didn't do it often enough. But I would hit reply and say, "This is too big. She doesn't like big heavy rings. Blah, blah, blah." All these things and it would then go and and find alternatives to it. It would learn her taste through
19:23me. I also wanted it to find an experience and so it would do that. Here, this is the original agent that I was using was Mex for this because we've been traveling through Mexico. Um and so I said, "Hey, you know what? This can't be Mex's job." I said, "Mex, create a new agent that just focuses on the anniversary." So it did and then pass
19:38all the information to it. So it did. Said, "Okay." So now the new anniversary agent said, "Got it." Mex sent it to me. Anniversary's is Sunday, October 11th. I'm setting a twice daily nudges to make sure that you do this. Checking whether Airbnb message to Mabel went out. I was considering an experience for Olivia from Airbnb and finding the River email thread. River Song is this jewelry maker that Olivia likes. So I I had sent a
20:03message to her. And so it just kept going and it kept looking uh for things. Um you can see that it kept looking for experiences, that it was looking for the woo-woo experiences that Olivia likes. It eventually found one um and I said, "Okay, I have everything booked. It's all set up. I want you to get me to the payment page and I'll hit pay." And the reason for that is we
20:25ended up buying this from Airbnb. And I didn't want to accidentally have my business card which is in Airbnb used for this and so I wanted to be the one to hit the the buy button. Usually I don't. Uh and here we are. Look, that's us. Um Olivia's wearing the necklace that I got her. We're toasting our
20:41anniversary. She's happy. I'm happy. This is great. Okay. Research doc. I told you to put this whole research doc for me. I want you to see how I interact with it. Um let me show you the way that I do it. I'm going to go to the edit page. Okay. Okay, it always has a home page which I
20:57never show you cuz it's it's useless. This is the first slide. You can see the orange tab on top of the orange line. That tells me that it had edited this slide before and so if I want to give it more feedback, I just write my notes here. I want you to I want you to blah blah blah blah blah. Okay, full of
21:14typos. Um I have this archive here, which I can open up, and you can see here is what it did before. So, on 10/13, slide number two, publicity, I said remove the Elon reference cuz it it had an Elon Musk reference here. Instead, say I suck less at self-promotion. And so, it did it. Done. Publicity subtitle now says I suck less. The Elon line is removed. This is how I work with it. I just go through each one of these pages and I give it more feedback, and it adjusts it. And so, that's the way that I do it. I freaking love working with Grok Bot. If
21:48you like this video and you're into agents, I've got another video for you right here with more ideas for what you can do with it. I'll see you in that video.
