# How I Use Claude Skills For SEO To Rank #1 On Google (Step-by-Step Tutorial) Channel: Nico | AI Ranking Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ysME1hVcN58 Duration: 17 min Language: English Words: 3609 Transcript page: https://viewrankai.com/tools/youtube-transcript/ysME1hVcN58 --- [0:00] Right now, you're probably doing your own SEO one prompt at a time. You open Claude, you paste a prompt for keyword research, another one for the content, another one for the metadata, starting from scratch every single time. [music] That's the slow way and why most people's AI SEO comes out inconsistent. And here's the thing, you don't need better prompts, you need skills. A Claude skill is a reusable instruction [0:24] Claude runs perfectly every single time. So, instead of re-explaining yourself every time, you say the keyword and it executes. And I'm going to show you five skills that together do almost my entire SEO. The research, the content, the on-page, the internal [music] linking, and the AI visibility. And it's part of the exact setup that ranks my websites number one and gets me cited on things [0:42] like GPT search and Google AI overviews. So, in this video, I'm going to show you exactly what these five skills are and how each one of these works. So, you can build them yourself and run your SEO like a system instead of a guessing game. Let's get to it. Before we get to the skills, we need to make sure we set this up correctly. Now, for this tutorial, I am using the Claude desktop application. I recommend you do the same. And before we even begin to play around with the skills, we need to connect Claude to real, high-quality, live SEO data. Because without it, Claude is just guessing. It might be a [1:13] good guess, mind you, but because it doesn't have natively access to things like keyword research data, backlink data, and a lot of these things that we need for SEO, without this connection, nothing's really going to work correctly. But thankfully, that is a very, very easy fix and it's [music] very cost-effective. The way we're going to connect or at least I recommend you connect Claude to real live SEO data is using a thing called Data for SEO. Now, this is very much like Ahrefs, SEMrush, and the other main big SEO tools, except they just give you the data. And it's also just a pay-as-you-go type of software. So, if you don't use it, you [1:47] don't pay for it. You get a dollar free credit when you sign up with a link below, and trust me, a dollar goes a very long way. And again, because it's pay-as-you-go, if you don't use it, you don't pay for it. You don't have worry about it. Yet another subscription piling up. So you going to make a free account and once you make a free account, you should see a dollar up here as balance. With that, I need you to go back to your Claude desktop application and you can be in home or in code. It doesn't really matter which tab you choose. For this instance, I'm going to [2:12] choose home. I'm going to go to customize. We want to go to the connectors. [music] In the connectors, we want to add a custom connector. You want to name this DFS data for SEO. I'm going to need a MCP as well. You're going to paste this URL in there. Don't worry, I'll leave this for you below so you can copy it right away. I'm going to [2:33] add it. And then it'll ask you to connect it, right? So we know we've connected to the data for SEO MCP. We need to connect it. If you signed in to your data for SEO free account already, it should pop up with a little message here. It should look like this. All you got to do is approve. And now what we've just done is given Claude code access to all the [2:56] correct, high-quality SEO data it needs. Now, before you continue, what I do recommend [music] is for the need approval, you allow all. That way it's not continuously asking if it can access this call of data for SEO and that call and it just slows down your work. With that done, you are ready to go. You have actually the most powerful SEO tool [3:15] inside Claude as well. [music] Now, I would recommend you start a folder or project for the website that you're working on. I'm going to create a new project here. I'm going to name it AI ranking school, for example, and I'm going to create the project here. This just allows me to keep everything organized and we're going to add all the [3:32] context needed for this [music] project. With that done, let's start installing the skills. Now, I'm going to leave a link for you in the video description below of the zip folders containing all the skills that I'm using. When you download the files, you'll see that there'll be actually six zip files and whilst I only mentioned five skills, the first one that we're actually going to use the site brief builder is going to allow Claude to get all the context from [3:57] the website that you're doing work on. This together with the high-quality SEO data are going to make these skills extremely useful because it's going to have context and information about the business that you're doing SEO for. That is very, very important for you to get right. So, what you need to do is download and install all these skills within your desktop application. It's very easy to do so. All you got to do is go to customize, go to skills, and we're going to add a skill, and you can upload [4:23] skills. [music] And I'm just going to one by one drop every single one of these skills here. So, I'm going to go to the site brief builder. Perfect. And I'm going to repeat that until I add all the five or six skills, I should say, rather. [music] Uh but I'm only counting five because, [4:40] you know, one of them is just a setup. Okay. Now, I've uploaded all these six skills. Again, only five of them we're going to run on a regular basis. The first one, the site brief builder, is to get all the information ready. So, with all those things done, in the folder that you just started, we want to run the first skill. And I'm going to use the prompt, uh use the site brief builder on this website here. You can use Opus or Fable, whatever you really want. I'm going to hit enter. This is going to take a little while and it must it might ask you questions about the [5:11] business that perhaps it can't get just by scraping the website. And the more context and information you give it, the better the output will be with all the skills that we're going to use now. And here, for example, it's asking me a few more questions, which country and language should every skill use for the search volume data. My business is fairly international, so I'm just going [5:29] to go worldwide English. Um but obviously, this will change for you. You want to answer all the questions, and then we should get an MD output. And hopefully, you should get an MD file with a site brief MD that has all the information about the business. I recommend you read it to make sure that it's correct. And if you want to make sure that it has [music] [5:45] more information, well, you tell it so. This is really important and a key part of this whole thing. Now, let's get into the first skill, which is the keyword research skill, something that a lot of people get wrong because they instinctively think that we need the keyword with the highest search volume, which is very wrong. You want the right keyword for your business. And because now this group that we're in has all the business information in it, all we got [6:09] to do is pick the right keyword here. For example, it even gives me and tells you which to run. So, run the keyword fan out map with this hit keyword or just AI SEO. [music] Here, you can decide which keyword you want to research on, but I will run the map feature. [music] And I'm going to run it on GEO strategies, for example, or generative engine optimization. I'm going to hit enter. And this is where the magic is going to happen because it has the context of the business and now it's going to start calling data for SEO. And we should see that in a few of [6:44] the elements here. It's finding the right tools and it's going to start using data for SEO. And this is the difference now. See, it's calling the data for SEO labs, so you can be assured now that your Claude isn't simply guessing which keyword is right for your business, so it knows the exact one now. After a couple of minutes, not only did we get some extensive research, we have a complete HTML dashboard that we can have a look, so we can make sense of the research that it did. I find it a much nicer way than just reading a dirty old CSV file, but we also do have the CSV [7:16] file within this project so that now Claude can access it should it need to. I've got here, for example, the keyword generative engine optimization. It's got a healthy search volume. What is generative engine optimization and a bunch uh of things that it's clustered in. So, here it's created the clusters into GEO core, how GEO works, uh ranking GBT, and a bunch of cores that might make a really good keyword research plan and then a content plan. It's done the fan out queries to answer as well. These are just within the AI search engines. I've done a detailed video about what fan out queries are. If you want to really know [7:54] how to rank in the AI search engines, I recommend you understand what these are, but I won't go through it now. But you can see here I've got a really decent keyword research document as well. And I've built most of these skills, so they kind of hand off one task to the other. You can see here it's telling me to run the SEO content writer. So let's just run that without any other prompting here. I'm going to say [8:19] run this one. Uh run, please, the SEO content writer. And I'm going to hit [music] enter. Now, here's where it's going to ask you a few questions back and forth because part of the way that we're going to write high-quality content is a few things. Write in a content capsule technique, make sure that you back up your statements, and a few other things that the skill is instructed to do so already. You don't really need to worry about that too much. But one thing that it can't automatically do is generate your experience. So the questions that it's going to be asking you, it's going to ask you the right [8:51] questions so that it can inject your experience into the blog content. And this is going to ensure that your blog is high quality and it's not just regurgitated AI slop. So it's going to ask you here for what type of page this is, blog, informational, or service product. I'm going to just going to say blog post. And here are the questions that it should start asking you. Obviously it's going to change drastically depending on what you're [9:13] writing about. So I'm going to take a second here and answer all these questions and then let's have a look at the output. [music] And after a couple of minutes I'm just going to open this up so you can see how good this is. So it tells you a lot about what it just wrote. I've got the word count, the sources cited, the answer capsule technique, and a bunch of different things here, the package, the heading structure that it decided, the sources cited, which is really important from an SEO perspective that you cite your sources when you say something that [9:40] needs it. [music] I've got the schema markup. And here I've got the complete overview, right? I've got a too long, didn't read section. Uh and then I've got the blog itself. What is generative engine optimization? It's linking to the correct sources. So, if I click on that, it's going to open the link to the right source. I can see here, and it's a [9:57] high-quality source again. [music] Um and it's written the whole thing in a way that I think looks quite nice. You can then, you know, copy this whole thing. I can copy in to an MD file. If I want to, I can just copy the entire thing [music] like this, right? Now, it depends if it's going to be perfect or not. What I recommend you do is you go through it, make sure that it's actually copied your tone of voice, and you like it. And you can amend that skill, the copywriting skill, to meet your needs, but make sure that it follows the same structure that I've [10:25] provided. It's going to allow you the highest possibility to get cited and rank in the AI overviews. The next skill is going to be the on-page optimizer. And the reason why this skill is so powerful is because most on-page checklist are just generic checklists. They don't really mold to meet the needs of the page at hand. So, this will change depending if the page is a content, like a blog post, or if it's a [10:48] service page. [music] And it will identify the fixes that you need to make to that page. So, for example, for now, I'm going to ask it uh can you please run the on- page optimizer on And I'm going to do it to on this blog that I've written recently to see if I'm missing anything there. I'm going to paste the blog post there. Now, the output is going to change drastically depending if it's a service or a product page or a blog post because the optimization then obviously needs to change accordingly. But at the end, we'll still get a nice report and a bit of a instruction on what to do to [11:27] improve the on-site SEO of that page. [music] So, whilst the on-page optimizer runs on that blog post, I want to show you which pages you should be running this on a frequent basis. You want to go to your Google Search [music] Console. If you don't have this set up, I highly recommend that you do. You want to go to pages, and you want to go here and find if you've got the message here, uh [11:48] [music] crawled currently not indexed. Most websites will have this, and this is Google's passive-aggressive way of saying, "I read your blog post, or I read your page, I just don't like it. You need to improve it." And you want to pick one of these two a week to run through that skill. Make sure you follow the instructions that the output of the skill tells us, and then you resubmit it [12:07] because you have improved it. Essentially, you're telling Google, "Hey, I did my work. I improved the content. Can you take a look at it now, please?" And once again, let's have a look at this beautiful output. Um [music] a good page with one expensive gap. Let's see what it's told us here. So, it's here, it's saying it's missing the schema. We could We need to claim more the sources that we've stated. Uh and we even need to do a little bit more content capsule technique. And here, it even tells you exactly the steps that [12:34] you need to do in order. Like I said, all you got to do is maybe once a week go through the pages that I told you before where to find in that crawled [music] currently not indexed section, and you just do the exact instructions that this is telling you, and you will get those pages indexed, start getting a lot more traffic, and [music] traffic from the AI search engines as a result. Skill number four is the internal link architect. So many people completely forget about this, and it's one of the kind of easiest things to do to improve not only your internal linking, your internal navigation, but [13:06] also your SEO. If you correctly internally link your website, you make your website more crawlable and easy to understand not only from the user, but from a AI search [music] engine perspective. Because if you post a blog post without any internal links to the correct sections of your website, it's a little bit like having a room inside a house without doors anywhere. It's just an empty room that you can't go in and out of. If [music] this weird metaphor makes sense, make sure you run the internal link architect. So, I can say something like, "Please run run the internal link architect on that blog [13:43] post as well." [13:49] And [music] after a while, we should have another report. And again, we get a nice report detailing where we're missing things, right? Linked everywhere and nowhere. So, it's telling us where the internal link should be should go to. It understood the other relevant pages on my website and suggested, "This is where you should link to, and this is the anchor text you should [music] link from this blog post to that page." This allows better internal navigation. This allows the spread of your link authority to your website, and just overall is going to be a lot more better [music] [14:20] for your SEO. Something very simple but very effective. The final probably be the most important skill is the AI visibility checker. Ranking on Google and being cited by the AI search engines, things like GPT search and Google AI overviews, are different outcomes, have different causes, and therefore have different problems. [music] But, we need to understand how to measure it so that we can fix it. If you can't measure it, then you kind of going in blind. But, because we've connected your Claude to Data for SEO, who have the data about your AI search visibility, data about your website, it kind of solves all of that. So, if we [14:55] run this, for example, I'm going to say, "AI visibility checker, please run it on the website airankingschool.com." Now, I must say a couple of things here because this data is very new, meaning the data of you getting cited on the AI search engines. At the moment, it's only going to filter through the websites and the AI search engines that are ranking in the United States in English. So, if your website falls outside of those two data sets, then you won't have any data in the AI optimization large language model [music] mentions here that we are visiting right now. You can see here that it's only in English and in the [15:36] United [music] States. I'd still recommend you run it anyway. It's only going to be a matter of time before data for SEO add the large language model citations and mentions on a lot more part of the world and in different languages. And again, the same as the other skills. After a couple of minutes, I have a report here. I'm cited seven times [music] for this website. If we take a look here, one retrieval without citation, [15:59] ChatGPT. [music] Perfect. So, it gives me the citations by the search engines. So, here, for example, within the Google AI overviews, I've got seven queries that that website is being cited for. One within ChatGPT and none for Perplexity or [music] Claude. Now, the data within my Google Analytics says certain different things cuz I am getting traffic from Google Analytics for site. So, obviously, take [16:23] this data with a bit of a grain of salt. It gives me my competitors, [music] uh the gap list, and a bit of an understanding of what I need to do if I do want to get cited in the AI overviews. So, here's the queries that I already own, meaning the ones that I'm already getting cited for. GPT personalities, um best GPT personality, what is GPT 5.4, [16:43] and a few other things here as well. [music] If you run this report a month later after doing the work that the other previous four skills have instructed you to do so, ideally, you have more citations by the end of that month. Hope you found that helpful. Again, I'll leave the link to the downloadable skills in the resources below. It'll be available in our free AI ranking community. And just make sure that you put a little bit of effort in understanding that you need to provide as much context as possible. Google and all the other AI search engines are not [17:10] going to penalize for writing with AI. What they are going to penalize you for is for writing bad [music] quality content. And that is without you really putting any effort into it. That's the one thing you really got to remember out of this whole thing. Thanks for watching. I'll catch you in the next [17:23] one. --- About this transcript Read from YouTube's own caption track and laid out by ViewRank AI (https://viewrankai.com).
