# LEAK: Anthropic will copy Lovable Channel: The Next New Thing Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mlUG73_BGsE Duration: 8 min Language: English Words: 1396 Transcript page: https://viewrankai.com/tools/youtube-transcript/mlUG73_BGsE --- [0:00] Huge news everybody. There's a big leak from Anthropic. Apparently, they are creating an app builder. And people are wondering, where is this going to end? Are they going to take over everyone's business? Presented by Zapier, the AI automation company. And so, I've got the founder of shipper.now. They are an app builder, and they're here. We're going to talk about what this means for them, what this means for other businesses. Here's another post that really went viral talking about how there's another leak from Anthropic. They created a lovable-like feature where you can build full-stack apps easily. They're coming after everything. They've got screenshots here. You get a taste of [0:38] what's coming up. [snorts] And this guy got 4 million views on this post about it. I think it's not the end of the world, as people would say. But, it is indeed an interesting thing to look at because most of us, Shipper and other apps like lovable, we rely heavily on Claude. So, what happens next is going to affect every one of us. So, excited, I guess, for what's next. Just [1:04] keeping a close eye on this. I guess what you're saying is you use Anthropic's products as the back end of Shipper. And the more they add to to their models, the more you can give your users. And at the same time, they're kind of starting to compete with you. Um you and I have talked before this recording, and I showed you this from [1:27] Bolt's uh founder. Let me read this. [snorts] He's also in a similar space, though he's targeting a different user. Uh more product managers, and I think you're targeting entrepreneurs like the people who are listening to this. He says, "Look, last fall, I was at an Anthropic dinner, was seated next to the lovable CTO, and joked to the Anthropic people, 'Hey, Anthropic folks, when are you going to put me and this guy, meaning the lovable founder, out of business?' Lovable CTO, their faces said it all." Meaning like, "Oh, yeah, this is coming." Truth be told, this is exactly what we've been expecting ever [2:00] since we launched Bolt in October 24. Not just this week's Claude leak, but we uh when we launched Bolt, it was clear to me that this thing, which is now called vibe coding, would be everywhere. New startups they're going to get into it. Old incumbents, new incumbents, everybody's going to get into it. And now he's saying, "Look, it's true. We [2:18] are seeing all these different people. Lovable, Roam, and so on. Replit now is coming into this space. Wix, Base 44, they're getting into it. Google and everyone is getting into it. And what he's saying is that for him, the answer is going to be to not chase fast growth and churn, but to stick really tightly to his users and his and their workflows and their use cases. And he's excited about that. Um [2:44] That seems to be your take, right? So, I think uh overall, I would say this isn't the end of vibe coding. Um we at Shipper, we're completely bootstrapped, for example, but there's plenty of other apps. I cannot even count how many there are. Uh that have gotten funding from VC companies. So, the easiest thing to think about would be would it would all would all of these people in YC put all this money into [3:11] vibe coding if it didn't have a future? And I think by default, they would have asked, "Okay, what if OpenAI or Anthropic are going to come out with their own vibe coding app?" Uh well, that seems inevitable. We've seen how loved Claude has been lately on Twitter. They've had this uh week where I think for every single day they've launched a new feature or new feature or new feature. So, they everybody sure thought, "Okay, there's going to be a point where lovable is going to or lovable or Shipper and all these apps are going to compete against the provider because we all we all of us run on Claude. It sits [3:48] at the base at the foundation of every one of our um services. It just comes down to who's going to use Claude, who's going to use lovable. And as you said, and and as Eric said, um what's the ICP going to be for each one of us? Because we all we all have to go down um certain Because you all have to go down uh our [4:10] own ways with our specific use cases. As I scan this page, I can see you've got templates on here to show people what types of sites they can build and what type of apps they can build. Your whole user experience is designed around this. If Claude were to add this to the existing Claude app, they couldn't show [4:28] all of this without distracting from it. I think it would essentially become as a second tool of Claude, but not as the main uh main thing, you know? So, there would still be a whole lot of space for people like Shipper, lovable, Bolt, and all these other other other guys. I agree. In fact, one of my frustrations with lovable is that they are going so wide. Instead of saying, "Hey, look, we are going to help you make excellent websites, uh excellent apps." They're now saying that they're going to that they're going to make beautiful [4:57] presentations for me and PDF it files. It's just too many distractions. They still have not nailed the experience of creating a great web app, and now they're adding all these extra things. All right, I get that point. Um I do think this is the the big risk here. This is Elena Verna. She is head of [5:15] growth at um lovable. I always worry about the big boys and girls in the world. So, OpenAIs, [snorts] Anthropic, Googles, Apples, more so than our competitors that spring up from the bottom or from sideways. And the reason that I worry about them more, and I think what everybody should be worried about them more, they just have the distribution hold in the market that is unparalleled. And in the world where product functionality becomes more commoditized of what you can create, distribution and growth becomes the reasons to win. So, whoever has the best distribution that is earned, that is competitively defensible, that is sustainable, uh that is predictable, is going to be [6:03] the winner in the market. So, I worry about the companies that have that figured out. Yeah. By the way, I don't think she should worry about Apple. Apple is not coming for Shipper's business. They're not coming for Lovable's business. They can't even get Siri right yet. [snorts] Um but that is really where the danger is, right? That Google is suddenly going to enable this, that Claude is. Is that [6:23] where you're thinking, too? You know, even for OpenAI, I think it was by the time they released, I think it was GPT 5.3, they had a few days of virality where everybody was saying uh OpenAI has just shut down Lovable because it looked like [laughter] uh it looked like ChatGPT can now like you're talking to ChatGPT and it can now spit out a full app. Uh it wasn't really like that. Still technical, you still had to know how to code. And even if it did put out an app, the whole UI was just you could see it. They're very early there. And it's nowhere near Lovable or Shipper to the point where um [7:04] you have all these tools and you just send the prompt and it actually builds out the UI, the back end, everything. It was more like a mock-up, like a Figma-designed thingy, not like a complete app. So, I think this is this comes to mind when you ask, "Is OpenAI or Google or Anthropic going to shut down all of us?" Well, not really [7:25] sure. [laughter] All right, we'll keep watching this. I love watching leaks. I love seeing what's coming up. If you're into this space and you've watched this far, subscribe. We're going to do more here to show you what's coming up from founders like David.
