# ChatGPT Dots is INCREDIBLE (but only if you use it the right way) Channel: Alex Finn Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e29WTzoOKxk Duration: 19 min Language: English Words: 4017 Transcript page: https://viewrankai.com/tools/youtube-transcript/e29WTzoOKxk --- [0:00] Chat GPT.is is an amazing AI agent, possibly the best out there, but only if you use it the right way. When used correctly, it has boosted my productivity more than any other AI agent out there. But when used the wrong way, it has been a broken, unreliable mess. In this video, I'll cover everything Chat GPT.is. What it is, what makes it different, and the one master workflow that turns it from like a meh agent to an absolute productivity machine and maybe the best agent out there. I'll also go through which AI agent you should be using. Dots, Hermes, Grokbot, Muse. We'll go through them all and what's the best fit for you. Let's [0:41] lock in and get into it. So this is my dot Bobby. I'm going to take you through everything I'm doing with him right now. All the workflows, all the productivity we got done. But let's first start with what Dots is and what makes it different than any other AI agent. So let's start out with the bad. Two bad things really. One, zero different features. If you look at it on the surface, there's basically literally nothing different between Dots and any other AI agents out [1:07] there. Grokbot, Muse, all that. Everything Dots can do the other AI agents do as well. There are no differentiating features whatsoever. It's also not free. It's quite expensive. It requires at least a hundred dollar plan of Chat GPT. But why did I start this video out with it might be the best AI agent out there, my productivity's never been higher? Well, there's a few key things it does extremely well. One is it is the best AI model powering agent, so it is the smartest AI agent out there. It's powered by GPT-6 Astra, which is only behind Opus 5.5 at the moment when it comes to models, but Anthropic doesn't [1:43] have any sort of AI agent. So it's the best AI model powering an agent. But two, and this is the big one, this is the one thing that makes it a productivity powerhouse. It is in the best AI agent harness on Earth. What does that mean? Dots is inside the Chat GPT desktop app, meaning it has access to Codex, meaning it has access to all the GPT plugins, meaning it has access to all your Chat GPT memories, meaning it has access to Chat GPT voice. All of those features in the harness are best in class. Yes, Grok Bot has a voice mode. Yes, Muse has a coding [2:20] functionality. Yes, Muse has computer use in the cloud. But Chat GPT, their desktop app does all of those things best in class. It is the best in class harness out there. It is best in class for coding, right? Codex is the best coder out there. It has the Chat GPT voice mode, which is by far and away the best voice model on planet Earth. So, while none of its features, and I'm going to go through and demo all this and show this all to you in a second, while it doesn't have any features that are different, all of its features are just much, much better. And so, what you [2:55] want to do to get the most out of Dots, which I'm going to show you how to do in a second, is lean into using those features. When you use Dots in a way where it uses its features that are better than the others, you get way better productivity. So, this is my Dot Bobby. Lives right in my Chat GPT desktop app. I'm on Mac, but also as a side note now, their cloud web version is excellent. It's now just as good as the desktop app. So, even if you're on Linux or Omachi, you can get all the [3:23] same functionality. It's really good. But this is what it looks like. It is just like Muse. It is just like Grok Bot. You chat with it. It does things for you. It does whatever you need. It has its own cloud computer. So, if I click on Bobby, you can see Bobby's computer right here on the right. It can do anything it wants in the cloud, but it can also do anything locally. And not only can it do things locally, it can do things across all of your devices that have Chat GPT on it. So, if you have multiple computers, multiple phones, whatever a Chat GPT on it, it can do [3:55] work across all of them. This is built-in, no extra setup necessary because it's all built into this incredible Chat GPT harness. So, how do you lean into all the differentiation between Chat GPT's harness and all the rest? Well, you want to use what I'm calling the project manager workflow. This is what makes Chat GPT dots so much better than other AI agents and makes it way more productive is not when you use it as a personal assistant, but when you use it as a project manager. How do you do that and what does that mean? Because the tools inside the desktop app are so good, the computer use, the browser use, [4:34] the coding through CodeX, the Chat GPT work mode, the voice mode, because those things are so good, you want to use your dot to control all those things, not do things for you, but control the tools and have them do the things for you. The ultra-powered tools. So, let me show you an example. Let me show you how to set this up to be a project manager so you get so much more out of this. So, I was at Dev Day a couple days ago and they gave out this. This is an incredible gift. This is a Open AI Chromatic. So, for those who don't know, a Chromatic's [5:06] like an advanced Game Boy Color, right? It's made by Palmer Lucky. It's just a Game Boy Color with like a backlit screen and super powerful and everything. What's cool about it is you can plug it into your computer and actually have CodeX build games for it. You can play your own custom Game Boy games on here. So, what I did was I had my dot, Bobby, actually build a game for this. But I didn't just say, "Hey, build [5:29] me a game for the Chromatic." Right? That would be how everyone else is using personal agents. Hey, do this for me, do that for me, be my personal assistant. You need to shift your lens of how to talk to your dot. You need to instead use it as a project manager. So, I said, "Do you see the CodeX thread I started on my MacBook around building for the chromatic. So, I already had this other thread existing. If you don't have another thread already, you can have it start a new thread to build a game or whatever. But, here's what I did. I had it find the thread where I was building [5:57] that game previously. I said, "Hey, are you aware of the goal?" Right, so you want to set a goal, an end state that you're aiming for. So, think of a project you want to run. For me, it's building a game for this chromatic. Then, you want to think of the end state. You want to think of the goal of this project. For me, it's building an excellent Gameboy Color action platformer with satisfying combat, meaningful choices and RPG elements and beautiful graphics. That's the end state. That's the goal. I gave it to my dot. It needs to have a knight with branching loot, weapon choices, things like that. And then I did this. I said, [6:36] "Great, can you act as my project manager?" And by the way, link down below, I'm going to give it to you in a second. I actually have a project manager skill I created. Give it to you completely for free. Don't even need to give me your email address. You can just take it and give it to your dot. So, this is much easier to set up, but I'll show you how I built this myself. I said, "Can you act as my project manager and keep working with that Codex thread to build it out? Prompt it to build things and then test it. Your goal is to [6:59] meet the vision and build a AAA excellent fun game independently." So, here's a few key things of what I did with my dot here to make it super powerful. I said, "Be my project manager." I gave it a goal, an end state I wanted to get to. I said, "Nurse this thread, watch this thread and and push it forward." And I said, "Keep pushing [7:18] it forward until you meet that goal." And then, and this is a very, very important one, and this takes advantage of a brand new feature inside of ChatGPT called spaces, I said, "Keep me up to date with what's going on this game in a space that updates every time you've done something with screenshots." So, for those who don't know, OpenAI just announced spaces. What spaces are is basically like Google Docs / Notion inside of ChatGPT. And you can see my space over here on the right. Lantern Falls is a game I'm building for the Chromatic. This is a brand new space I created. I'll even make it a little bit [7:55] bigger for you here. But here's what happens. Every time my dot, Bobby, does something in that thread it's managing, it updates this space with the milestones it hits and with what it did. So, I can see change logs. I can see builds and artifacts. I can see it testing. I can see the road map and the acceptance criteria. I can see bugs and issues it finds. And then I can click in and see like all the different issues and every milestone it hit. It creates Look at these. It creates these awesome like tables where I can see all the acceptance criteria. It's really, really sick. So, I have this running kind of [8:32] artifact on steroids capturing everything Bobby is doing in this other thread it's monitoring. And along the way it's testing every step of the way. So, everything that other thread does, every piece of code it writes, it tests it along the way as well. And now as you can see here in the thread it's managing, you can see it messaging this thread. So, sent by Bobby. Bobby's able to go in, message the thread, go back and forth, and write code, and get things done, and basically manage this thread for me just like I would. And along the way Bobby goes in and updates this space with everything going on. And [9:10] in a way what we're doing is we're like building a loop with our agent to do things, right? It has a goal. It's checking over it. It's looping over it. This is what makes ChatGPT dots, in my opinion, potentially better than the other AI agents out there like Grokbot, like News, because it has these super powerful tools like spaces, like CodeX threads, like Astra 6. It can do and be a a more productive than the other AI [9:37] agents. And yes, it's a process, right? Like it needs to know how to build a space, how to test things, how to manage the thread. The good news is I created an open-source skill you can just take. It's a dot project manager skill. The link for it is down below completely free. I just give you the link to the GitHub. Take that, give it to your dot, and say, "Hey, please install this project manager skill." Once it does that, you can just say, "Hey, use your project manager skill to build this game for me or to work on this project for me." And it will do everything I showed [10:05] here. Now, I know that's pretty advanced. Like right now, that's not something everyone, your mom and pop, your aunt and uncle are going to do. They're not going to have a project manager build things out. This is more for power users, right? Like are you going to use your dot as a project manager to make a reservation at McDonald's down the street? No, you're probably not going to do that. If you're doing something like that, at least at this moment, at the time of filming this video, Muse is probably a better agent to do that. It's a lot simpler. It works. It figures things out. I've had [10:37] some issues with dot over the last couple days. It's computer use in browser use when doing things like making reservations or going and filling out forms online. It's not perfect. It doesn't work super well. I'm sure they're fixing it. I'm sure they're working on it. But right now, it's just not great for those kind of basic personal assistant use cases. But it is excellent, amazing, incredible at these use cases I'm showing you here. These power user project management building use cases. It's best in class. There's nothing better than it at the moment if you use it this way. And especially if you're a power user and you're using it [11:12] across your different computers, on your laptops, your studios, your whatever, it can do some amazing things. And then you just come in at the end of the day, you go look at all your spaces, your spaces for your projects, you see the updates, and you see what your agent's done. And I know what a lot of people are going to say at this point is, "Well, isn't that expensive? Isn't that going to use a ton of uh usage and all that? Well, here's an amazing thing. At least for the next month, the messages you send back and [11:38] forth with your dot are completely free. They're just covering the cost of all that. So, this won't draw down your usage talking to your dot. It will draw down the usage actually managing the thread. So, writing the thread, writing the code's going to use your usage. The actual message itself to your agent are completely free. So, yes, it will use usage. Yes, you need to be on at least the $100 plan. I'm now $500 plan, but it's not as bad as you think. In a second, I'll go over kind of the entire grid of which you should be using Grok, Bod, Hermes, Muse, Dots and for which [12:10] use cases. But, before we do that, let me just give you some action steps of next action steps to get the most out of Dots. Find two to three projects you want to work on. These are good juicy projects that you either want to build out, maybe you want to build your own game, maybe you have your idea for a business you want to build, whatever it is. Come up with those projects. Come up with an end goal for each. Install the project manager skill down below. I'm going to keep that updated. I'm just [12:34] going to keep updating that as we go. And then go to your dot and say, "Here's the projects I want to work on. Use the project manager skill. Ask me any questions you have and here's the end goal for all of those projects." It will go and it will continuously build out those projects for you. Also, make sure you take advantage of spaces. It's a really awesome new feature. If you want to deep dive on spaces and how you get the most out of it, let me know down below. By the way, if you learned anything at all so far, leave a like, subscribe and turn notifications. I have [13:03] like 20 more videos coming out over the next couple weeks on all these new things Open AI announced. There's also a lot of other amazing releases coming out soon. So, make sure to subscribe and turn notifications to stay on top of that. Also, number one free AI newsletter on planet Earth, link down below for that. Completely free. Sign up now. We'll send out way more guides on this. And also, check out the Vibe Coding Academy, number one AI community on planet Earth. I promise you won't regret it. Big hackathon coming up in there soon. All right, so here are the four main players right now when it [13:33] comes to personal AI agent assistants and when you should use each. I'll go in a more detail on each one of these here. Grok Bot, I still use a ton. It is an absolute great app. I'm going to be making more videos on it. It's great for diversified work. What does that mean? Because it's built around having, you know, a long list of multiple agents with different personas, it's good for tackling many different pieces of work because you can have each agent just be in one certain context, right? Maybe you have different revenue lines, different business lines. Because I have so many different businesses, I like to use Grok [14:06] Bot for a lot of that knowledge work that's diversified. It's also just great for running your life. I think it's great for proactivity. I think it's great for responding to emails. My basic knowledge work for my life, I go through Grok Bot. Muse is your book me a reservation type agent. These are for your tasks online you want to to go out and do. I think it's the best for that book me a reservation kind of quick easy task because just based on me using all of these, it seems to have the best ability just to figure out how to use the internet, figuring out how to make [14:38] reservations, whatever it is. It is great for those use cases. For an example of this is I I play the new RuneScape game with a friend of mine. We have to restart the server. We have a hosted server. I need to restart it basically every day because they keep releasing patches. I go to my Muse "Hey, [14:55] find my hosted server and restart it." And just figures out how to do it. It just does it super quick and figures out how to do those things online. So, Muse are great for those kind of quick tasks you need to get done online. Dot, which what we just went over, is for building, the project management, the building things out because Codex and Astra are so freaking good, the smartest best model for AI agents. I use Dot for all my building, for all my projects. Which for me is an absolutely massive use case, right? And then you have Hermes. I still have a Hermes. I still use it a [15:28] ton. It's incredible for computer and network administration. What I mean by that is out of all these agents, it seems to be the most willing to like do admin stuff across all my computers. It seems the most willing to download local models, load them up, go over to this other computer, delete all these files, create new files here. It's just that it doesn't need many permissions. It just does things for you across all your computers. So I still like that. It's the only open source agent of all these, so it's fully customizable and it's made for open models. So if you're like me, you use local models. It's the only one [16:02] that can be powered by local models. This isn't a competition. I know what half my reply section's going to be. I'm going to be honest, it is painful reading my replies sometimes because I will talk about Hermes and they'll go, "What about Grokbot? What about Grokbot?" I'll talk about Muse, "What about Hermes? What about Hermes?" I'll [16:18] talk about Dots, "What about uh Muse?" This isn't a competition. These aren't football teams. You don't need to root for one or the other. You can use them for different tasks. You can use them all at once. Just because Dots does something really well isn't an insult to you just cuz you really like using Hermes. Just cuz I like Hermes doesn't mean it's an insult to you just cuz you use Grokbot. There are no winners and losers. This isn't a competition. You need to kind of you you need to remove yourself from having your identity fused with these AI agents. They're just tools. You have a tool belt. You know [16:54] when to use each tool. Just cuz I think Dots is the best at coding doesn't mean I think Grokbot is better. Just because I use Hermes to load local models doesn't mean I think Muse is useless. Use all of them for their specific tasks. When I compliment one, I'm not insulting you just because you like another. You can use whichever AI agent you want. And if you find it confusing managing four AI agents, that's totally fine as well. There's nothing wrong with that. With all of these use cases, you can do all of these use cases with any of these agents. If you want to use Grok [17:28] Bot for all of this down below, you can do that. My job is to use all of the AI tools and tell people about them. So, that's what I do. I'm an AI power user. I use all of the different agents for all their different tasks. It's all I do with my day. So, if you don't have that kind of time, you can just choose one and stick with it and use it. Just because I'm talking about other AI agents isn't an insult to you. So, if you want to use just one, go right ahead. If you want to stick with me and see which ones are best for which task, [17:58] you can do that, too. I really don't think it's too challenging to switch through them, but if it's challenging for you, that's fine. Just choose one and stick with it. I do I am very bullish on Dots, though. I I really am. I do think that its ability to project manage is very unique. I do think its ability to access all the ChatGPT tools is very unique and interesting. And I think when they smooth out some of the, you know, the rough spots here with it, I think it will be a extremely compelling tool. I'm going to be honest, I think they rushed it out probably [18:25] because of the heat coming from the competition between Muse and Grok Bot. But, that's fine. It's still a great tool. It's still great for project management even in its state current state right now. But, I'm sure even like 2 weeks from now, a lot of the rough edges will be smoothed out and it'll be really compelling for basically everything. So, that is Dots. Let me know down below which you'd like me to [18:47] cover next. Which are you most into? Grok Bot, Muse, Dots, Hermes? I will make another video on whichever one I see the most in my comment section. I'm so appreciative you to watch these videos. It means the world. I absolutely love creating this content. Despite the people that figure out a way to get absolutely angry at everything I say and do, it's totally fine. I still love making these videos. It is a blessing that this is somehow turned into my career. So, thank you so much for your support. Thank you so much for watching the videos. You're truly helping me make my dreams come true. I will see you in [19:17] the next one. --- About this transcript Read from YouTube's own caption track and laid out by ViewRank AI (https://viewrankai.com).
