https://viewrankai.com/tools/youtube-transcript/_xuro_cwVOs --- [0:00] oh my gosh I cannot believe it it's been an entire year of teachers being teachers I'm really excited to share with you today just a bit of an overview of my entire first year on Teachers Pay Teachers I'll go into my income reports month by month I'll go into mistakes that I feel like I've really made that we are taking the time now to go back and fix and also some lessons that I've learned um throughout this year on TP team make sure to stay until the end because I'll share a really scary goal that I have for my next year on teachers paid teachers thank you [0:36] hi there my name is Katie Geddes and I am an out-school organization owner a TPT seller and also a teacher business coach if you are brand new to Teachers Pay Teachers then make sure to grab my TPT cheat sheet which I Linked In the description box below so let's go ahead and start out with my monthly income throughout my first year on Teachers Pay Teachers I posted my first paid product on September 14th 2021 so I'll go ahead and start there so my first month of Teachers Pay Teachers monthly income was from September 14th to October 13th where I made 208.80 and we sold 21 units my second [1:15] month of monthly income on Teachers Pay Teachers was from October 14th to November 13th where we made 153.60 and we sold 18 units my third month of teachers p teachers monthly income was from November 14th to December 13th where we made 380 dollars and 47 cents and we sold 42 units huh my fourth month of teachers teachers monthly income was from December 14th until January 13th where we made a total of 391.83 and we sold 26 units my fifth month of Teachers Pay Teachers monthly income was from January 14th to February 13th where we made 536.80 and we sold 32 units so January is a really good time for tgsp teachers [2:13] teachers are getting back to school after the winter break and so they are purchasing again so definitely recommend prepping for January time my sixth month of tgspay teachers monthly income was from February 14th through March 13th where we made 387.19 and we sold 23 units my seventh month of Teachers Pay Teachers monthly income was from March 14th to April 13th where we made 529.76 and we sold 34 units my eighth month of Teachers Pay Teachers monthly income was from April 14th through May 13th where we made a total of 272.80 and we sold 16 units my ninth month of tjspa teachers monthly income was from May 14th through June 13th [3:07] where we made 88 dollars and sold seven units so as you can see there's a huge dip in May to June time which is pretty consistent throughout June and July my 10th month of tjsp teachers monthly income was from June 14th through July 13th where we made 48.80 and we sold four units my 11th month of Teachers Pay Teachers monthly income was from July 14th through August 13th where we made 101.28 and we sold six units one of which was in July five of which were in August August is definitely a popular time for Teachers Pay Teachers and my 12th month of tjsp teachers monthly income was from August 14th through [3:57] September 13th where we made 381.56 and we sold 24 units so overall in my entire first year of selling on Teachers Pay Teachers we made 3 480.89 and we sold 253 units I do also give monthly breakdowns and just lessons that I've learned throughout my time on TBT on my Instagram so if you don't already follow me on Instagram then make sure to go give me a follow okay so as successful as that first year was there are definitely still some mistakes that looking back I feel like we definitely could have improved on that I would encourage anybody not to do so the first mistake that I feel like I made in my [4:44] first year on Teachers Pay Teachers was not starting an email list email marketing is the absolute best marketing that there is out there and to be honest I didn't even realize that teachers paid teachers allows you to take buyers on the TPT platform to your own landing page or your own website or something like that I think it's just because I'm so used to out school which that is like a complete absolute No-No like you cannot do that on out School taking them off the platform so I think I just didn't realize that I was allowed to do that but I really wish that from the [5:15] beginning I'd had another freebie on my own website or on a landing page and I could have put that in my descriptions or I could have linked it in my products for people to download in exchange for their email address I mean when you think back to our entire year we made 253 sales and not only that but our freebies were each downloaded like 450 times so it makes me really sad to think about that that was like maybe thousands of people that have been and are stored that we did not get their email addresses so it pains me to think about but definitely going forward that's [5:47] something that we're going to start implementing right away in year two the second mistake that I made in my first year on teachers paid teachers was not purchasing clip art or fonts I've said before that I design my products on canva which is an amazing resource and I'm still going to continue to design on canva um because I love it but I was using the free fonts and the free clip bar and elements from canva and we're just now going back in and purchasing fonts and a clipart from Teachers Pay Teachers itself to use in our products and they look so much better and I am just [6:22] kicking myself for not doing that earlier this isn't true for everyone but I feel like on the Teachers Pay Teachers platform most teachers prefer like a certain style and things to look a certain way and purchasing clipart and fonts from TPT directly like on that website really can get that style into your products and in turn I think you can make more sales that way so I definitely recommend doing that from the start I definitely think we'll still do some free stuff from canva but the main things I'm definitely going to purchase now the third mistake that I feel like I made in my first year on teachers paid [6:58] teachers was not investing in some sort of guidance a membership a course or anything like that I did invest in a virtual assistant which has been such a win for my store and I never could have set my store up without having a virtual assistant but I just recently joined a program a membership with Lauren Fulton her rebranded teacher Academy and I'm just kicking myself for not doing it from the start because the first thing I did was go in and watch her selling 101 course where she goes through the basics of what to do on TPT to be successful and there's so many things that I missed [7:29] or I feel like I really could have done better and if I had just implemented that from the beginning we wouldn't have to take all this time now to go back and refresh everything and her membership is so affordable it is absolutely worth every penny there's so much value there so I definitely recommend investing in something like that to get you started and to learn from the get-go the best practices for your store if you want to learn more about her membership or you're interested in joining then I'll make sure to link it in the description box below I highly highly recommend it alright so let's talk Lessons Learned in [7:58] my first year on TPT the main lesson is really just how amazing passive income really is like don't get me wrong getting started on two different teachers it's not a get rich quick scheme like it's going to take some time and effort for your store to really gain traction and to really be earning enough to support you for real but there is no better feeling in the world than literally laying in bed watching The Great British Bake Off and getting an email that you earn 60 from Teachers Pay Teachers like I spend a lot of time on camera and teaching live in my out School classes and managing my teachers [8:32] and if you teach in the classroom you of course have a nine to five teaching job and in my eyes teaching live that much just really isn't sustainable I want to build this up so that I have a base pay that I can be supported from and then from there I can choose how I use my time to supplement my income through live classes or through coaching or whatever that is as time passes having an online business as a teacher sustainability really does become your number one priority and having a teacher speed teacher store can give you exactly that so if you are interested in learning more about building an online [9:07] business as a teacher that's something that I talk about in all of my YouTube videos all the time so make sure to hit subscribe if you haven't already all right and finally let's talk goals for my second year on Teachers Pay Teachers so my first goal of course in what we're doing right now is going back and just revamping literally everything in the store the products themselves the descriptions the previews the photos everything um we're going to optimize our SEO and set all of those products up for Success now that we've learned a lot and then my goal is to create more product lines so right now I really have two main product [9:40] finds in my store and they each bring me about on average about 150 a month so theoretically My Hope Is if I was to add four more product lines to my store then we could get up to about nine hundred to a thousand dollars a month so that's my hope for 2023 is to add four new product lines into my store and to get up to nine hundred to a thousand dollars a month um I know it's a really big goal and I'm like nervous about it but I'm excited it really motivates me to try to hit those big numbers so we'll see how it goes I [10:12] will make sure to keep you updated and continue to make more videos all about my teacher's paid teacher's Journey if this video was helpful for
