# How To Set Up A Meta Business Account in 2026 Channel: Ben Heath Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZB0qXMU2kxY Duration: 14 min Language: English Words: 3231 Transcript page: https://viewrankai.com/tools/youtube-transcript/ZB0qXMU2kxY --- [0:00] In this video, I'm going to show you how to create and set up a Meta business account the right way. Doing this properly is especially important if you're going to be running Facebook ads or Instagram ads or using any of the Meta platforms for business purposes. Let's get into it. So, let me start by quickly explaining what a Meta business account actually is. So, your Meta business account holds all of your Meta business assets once you've got it set up properly. I'll show you how to do that as we go through this video. So, inside your Meta business account, you want to have your Facebook page, your [0:28] Instagram profile, your ad account, your Meta pixel, a bunch of other things as well. You can also add in team members and give them access to those various assets. So, it's a really useful place to be able to manage all of that. When you have a Meta business account, you can also access the free Meta business tools. So, things like Ads Manager, which is the best place to create, manage, optimize your ad campaigns. Uh you've also got things like the Meta Business Suite, which is a great place to manage a lot of communication that's related to your Meta business activities. So, for example, you can manage your inboxes, your people [0:59] messaging on Instagram, WhatsApp, you can manage all of it from within the Business Suite. Um you can also reply to comments or delete ones that you don't want to be publicly visible. You can access leads that you've generated if you're running ads, for example, to to generate leads. Now, it can seem quite complicated if you've not been through this process before. There's lots of different terms. You've got your Meta business account, your Business Suite, your Business Portfolio. Uh these things have been renamed. They used to be called Business Manager account. So, it can seem very complicated, but if you walk through this video with me, I'll [1:29] show you exactly what you need to set up. I'll focus on the things you need to do right now. There are loads of optional things in there that you can get to later, but we're going to cover the essentials so that you can get up and running and actually use the Meta platforms, whether that's running ads or otherwise. So, the first step to getting this set up properly is to create your Meta business account. And to do that, you want to come through to business.facebook.com and you'll most likely come through to a page that looks like this. Now, in order to proceed and actually create your Meta [1:53] business account, you will need to be logged in with Facebook or Instagram. You can see over here on the right-hand side. If you don't come through to a page that looks like this, instead you've come through to directly through to your Meta Business Suite, which I will get to in a minute, that's probably because you already have a Meta business [2:08] account set up without realizing it. It's actually fairly common because if you've done certain business-related activities in the past, you may have created a Meta business account without realizing it. It probably isn't set up properly though. So, if you are in that situation, just hold on a second, we will get there. Um and then once we are, you'll be able to follow along with the rest of the process of setting up all those assets I mentioned and making sure they're all moved in. If you have come through to a page like this, you don't have a Meta business account already, make sure you're logged in to either [2:34] Facebook or Instagram, and then go through the process. And once you've logged in, you come back to this page and you click on create an account. Now, unfortunately, I can't show that bit. We already have lots of accounts. Meta limits how many business accounts you can create for obvious reasons, but that process is really straightforward. You just click on create an account, you provide the information that Meta ask for you. It takes literally a minute or less, and then you'll be taken through to your Meta Business Suite once that's all set up, and you can follow on from here. And then once you've done that, you'll be taken through to the Meta [3:01] Business Suite, which is where I am right now. Um if you went to business.facebook.com and came straight through to here, like I said, you already have a Meta business account, but either way, we can all follow on from here. Now, your Meta Business Suite might look quite different to mine if you don't have um your assets added in. So, for example, we've got my Facebook page in here. We've got my Instagram profile in here, and it's feeding through um information. But, the Meta Business Suite is really useful. Like I previously mentioned, you've got um inbox. And from within here, you can manage messages via Facebook, Instagram, [3:29] WhatsApp. You can deal with comments on Facebook and Instagram. You've also got Lead Center. So, if you're looking to generate leads via Facebook and Instagram ads, you can access them um through here as well. So, lots of useful things you can do from within the Meta Business Suite. But, to get your Meta business account set up properly, you want to come through down here to settings. And in here, you can add in your Meta business assets into your business portfolio. So, let's go ahead and do that. Let's start with Facebook page. Now, again, what you see here might look a little bit different from what I've got on my screen because we [4:00] literally have hundreds and hundreds of Facebook pages, Instagram accounts, ad accounts cuz we're working with hundreds of clients at any one time. Uh but, you can still follow through with the process I'm about to show you even if what you see looks a little bit different. So, if we go ahead and click on this plus add button, we've got a few different options. So, if you already have a Facebook page created, but you want to move it into your Meta business account, which is exactly what I'd recommend you do, then you want to select this top option, which is add an existing Facebook page. If I go ahead [4:29] and click on this, it's a really straightforward process. You just enter in your Facebook page uh name, type it in, and it will pop up, or grab the URL. So, if I go to my uh Facebook page and grab the URL, come back here, paste that in there. Select, yep, that's my page, Ben Heath. Now, Meta's not actually going to let me do this because I already have this page [4:51] added into this Meta business account. Um but, if you don't, then you can go ahead and click next. Uh you review which people We'll get to that in a second. You want to have access, and then you are able to add that in fairly easily. There are other options. So, beneath that, we've got request shared access to a Facebook page. This is the option you want to select if you're an agency doing work for a client and you want to get access to their Facebook page through your Meta business account, but you don't want to move it into your Meta business account, which is exactly the setup I'd recommend if you are an [5:21] agency doing client work. A bit different if it's your own page, you want to move it in and have it be owned by this Meta business account. So, exactly same process, enter in the Facebook page name or the URL, go through. Once you uh request access to it, an admin of that Facebook page will need to approve it. Once they do, you will have access to it via your Meta business account, but it won't be owned by this Meta business account. So, a distinction there that is uh really handy, especially when you end up with hundreds of pages, Instagram accounts, etc. in your Meta business account. Uh [5:51] third option is to create a new Facebook page. So, if you don't have a Facebook page, I would strongly recommend you set one up. You're going to want it if you are going to be advertising on Facebook. Um so, you can just click on create a new Facebook page, and then Meta walks you through the steps of the information you need to provide in order to set up a Facebook page. Next, let's move on to Instagram accounts. Um so, once again, we click on this plus add button, and the process is a little bit different for adding an Instagram account. You just come through to this page here, and [6:18] you click on add Instagram account. Now, one thing to note that Meta is making us aware of is that only Instagram professional accounts can be added to a business portfolio. If you add a personal account, it will be switched to a professional. Okay? So, if you have a personal account right now, it's going to be switched to professional. I would recommend that if you're using your Instagram uh profile for business purposes, that it is an Instagram professional account anyway. You get better analytics in terms of engagement, who's, you know, how a post performing, who's interacting, where are they, all that sort of stuff. Um and it allows you [6:51] to do things like get it added to your Meta business account and then use it as part of the other business tools like the Meta Business Suite and things like that that we've discussed. So, you just want to go ahead and click on add Instagram account. Then you just log in as your Instagram account, uh basically giving it permission, and then you can get it added um and a fairly straightforward process to go through there. Now, if all this sounds complicated or you're going through the process and you get stuck, perhaps something doesn't work properly, and you'd like some direct help from me, you can get on a live Q&A call with me for [7:21] less than $60 as part of my Ben Heath Inner Circle, and I can help make sure that you've got your Meta business account set up or help with any other of your advertising business-related efforts when it comes to Meta. There is a link in the video description if you want to find out more. Next, let's get your ad account added to your business portfolio. So, to do that, go ahead and click on ad accounts over here and then on this plus add button once again, and [7:43] then we've got a few different options. Now, if you don't already have an ad account, you can select this, create a new ad account. Meta will ask you for some fairly simple information about your business. You'll be asked to add payment information, so obviously you can pay for the ads. Uh but, once you've gone through that process, your ad account will be in your business portfolio, and you'll be able to access it through your Meta business um account. If you already have an ad account, which more people do than they realize, if you've ever boosted a post, you've ever run an ad in any form, even [8:11] if you've boosted through Instagram, Facebook, etc., you have an ad account. An ad account is created as part of that initial boosting process, which means you already have one. In which case, you want to move your existing ad account into uh your business portfolio. So, you select this option, add an existing ad account, and it's a very straightforward process. You just go ahead and grab your ad account ID, and then paste it in here. So, let me show you where you find that. I'm here in Ads Manager in one of our example ad accounts, and the ad ad account ID is the number that you can [8:40] see alongside the name of your ad account. So, you just go ahead It's cut off here, but you just go ahead and and grab that and paste that in, and then you can go ahead and get the and then you click next, and you get the ad account added into your uh Meta business account. Once again, we've got an option for agencies. So, if I select this option here, request access to an ad account in another portfolio, you're not moving the ad account into your business portfolio, you're saying, I need access to it. It can remain in your client's business portfolio, but you'll be able to access [9:07] it through your Meta business account and manage all your clients, all your clients' ad accounts um in one place. Again, same process. You just ask them for their ad account ID, you pop it in here, click next, uh request access. An admin of that ad account will need to approve that. They should receive a notification. They'll need to approve that access request, and then you'll be able to access it from within here and give people in your team potentially access to it if you need to. Which moves me on to the next thing that we need to [9:33] do, which is talk about people. Because this is a really handy feature of having everything in your business portfolio. So, what we can do is we can go ahead and select invite people, and we can enter in uh the email address. So, this wants to be an email address that's associated with someone's uh Facebook profile. So, you go ahead and [9:50] enter in the email address there. Um so, if I just put in like example@example.com, okay? Uh and then go ahead and click next and then I can decide what level of access do I want them to have? Do I want them to have partial access or full access like an admin? Let's go with partial. And then we can decide which assets we want to give people access to. So, let's say that this person, this example person, we want to give them access to my Facebook page. So, great. We go ahead and select uh from Facebook pages over here, my Facebook page, and then we can decide the level of access. Do we want [10:21] them to have full control or do we want to get more specific? They're able to manage ads, uh and then other stuff. Perhaps they're also able to manage content, community activity, can they respond, messages and calls, etc. So, you can go through and work out what's appropriate for that person and what you want them to be able to do. You can do the same with ad accounts. So, select which ad account you want them to be able to have access to. Again, full control or no, just want them to be able to manage campaigns. We can do the same with Instagram accounts. So, if I want [10:48] to give this person access to my Instagram account, I can say yes to content, messages, etc. etc. Decide uh what I do and don't want them to have access to. So, this is a really easy way not just to manage your Meta business assets, but also manage who has access to what and the varying degrees of access level. So, once you've got this set up properly, you'll never start, for example, giving anyone your login information. Like that would not be a smart way to go about doing it. Instead, you get someone added into your Meta business account and then you give them the relevant access that they need to be [11:17] able to do the work for you that you want them to be able to do. As your team expands, really really handy. And then once you've done that, you want to go ahead and click next um and then invite, in this case, with three assets, and that will send an email and a notification um on Facebook, potentially Instagram as well, uh to let them know that you they've been invited to this stuff and they can go ahead and and check it out. I won't do that cuz that's not a real person, but that's how we go through the process. And a really important thing to note about inviting [11:43] people is you need to invite yourself, which I know sounds kind of strange, but your Meta business account operates as a separate entity to your actual Facebook profile. So, if you want to be able to go in and access these various assets when you're logged in as you, you need to get yourself added. So, go through that invite people option, put in your information, make sure you give yourself access um to the various assets, and that's going to make getting access to things a lot easier later on. I have run into instances where people have set up a Meta business account, they've added in all their assets, and then they don't [12:13] seem to be able to access it when they're just logged in to their own personal profile, and they're going, "What's going on?" It's because they didn't actually add in themselves. So, go through that process and make sure you get yourself added. Now, there are other things that we can do from within uh business portfolio from within uh a Meta business account. So, we can set up pixels, for example. If I go into data sources, there's lots of different options. We can set up Meta pixels. I've got another video covering that, how to create a Meta pixel and get it installed on your website. You can find on my [12:39] channel if you want to to dive into that. If you're going to be running ads and sending people through to your website, I would strongly recommend it. But what I've shown you today is really what you need to get set up. There's all sorts of advanced things. I'm not going to go into everything. I think that'd be quite overwhelming um initially. You can always come back to this stuff later on when you're more familiar with the platform. But that's what you need to get set up properly so you can run ads, so you can use the Meta platforms for business purposes, and you won't run into issues as you scale, add people, uh [13:06] look to manage your accounts, and things like that. And if you've been through this video because you do want to run ads on Facebook and Instagram, then I'd strongly recommend that you check out this video next because in that video, I walk through exactly what I would do if I had to start running Facebook and Instagram ads all over again from scratch. So, I detail my exact plan for where I would start, then what I'd move to next, the elements that I think are most important that you need to get right early on. So, go ahead and give it [13:32] a watch. --- About this transcript Read from YouTube's own caption track and laid out by ViewRank AI (https://viewrankai.com).
