# I Tested The Viral Reverse Engineer Anything GitHub Skill (Step By Step Tutorial) Channel: Darsh Jain Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YJI_94GK-Bw Duration: 12 min Language: English Words: 2543 Transcript page: https://viewrankai.com/tools/youtube-transcript/YJI_94GK-Bw --- [0:00] In this video, we will talk about a popular, trending, and viral GitHub repository, which is REA. REA stands for Reverse Engineering Anything. This is a repository that you can use to analyze any app or website. You can back-track and fully understand how it works. How this feature is working within it. And you can add that thing into your own project and use it. So, in today's video, I am going to tell you how you actually need to install it . How you can use it for your own projects. And I am also going to perform some tasks using it to show you [0:30] . So hello everyone, my name is Darsh. Let's start the video. First of all, you need to go to the description of this video. In the video description, I will provide you with the link to this Git repo. It can basically go into any app and extract the main feature you want, or help you understand it. And [0:47] you can use that in your own project. If you talk about its stats, it's about to hit almost 300,000 stars, which is a very good benchmark, a very good number . If I scroll down, it is also in the repository of the day and is trending quite a lot on GitHub. Now, how does it work? Let me first explain it to you in simple language. So, what does reverse engineering mean? You might understand from the name that something has been [1:10] built. I am analyzing it in reverse. For example, if you go to a restaurant. Suppose you ordered biryani. You liked the biryani a lot. So you will analyze it. You will back-track what ingredients were put into this biryani. What things were added. You don't have the recipe yet. You will extract from the biryani itself. What things were put in it. With its help, you will prepare a recipe and take it home to build or make it. So what happened here ? You got a final product. You back-tracked and analyzed the final product. You made a recipe and you are using that recipe at home to make the [1:41] same thing. If I talk about this in terms of our main use case, which is making apps or websites, or web apps, then you went to a website and you liked a feature. You provide the website's feature to RE, and it will analyze it, back-track it, and understand how that feature works. What things have been used in it. And after doing that, it will provide you with the entire structure. And using your agent, like Claude Code or Codex, you can add this same feature to your own projects. Now, this means that many people can use this in the wrong way to clone anything. And many people are [2:15] currently using it at a significant level. For instance, if you haven't heard, people have cloned Adobe software like Premiere Pro and Photoshop and made them live for free. So, you can do all these things using this skill, which is called RE, meaning Reverse Engineer Anything. In basic language, when you use RE and an agent together, like using Claude Code or Codex, RE will basically understand whatever you tell it. When you tell it to build, it will use that to build it, and finally, you can test it and add it to your project. Now let's see a real use case for this. So, like I am using [2:51] this tool, Excalidraw. What is this basically used for? You can add drawings, text, and such on it to explain anything in a simpler way. So, what do we do? We use this skill on this very website. We reverse engineer this. And based on these same features, we build an app or website just like Excalidraw. You can assume this. So, first of all, you need to open Claude on your desktop. Now, after opening [3:13] Claude, I have given it a prompt here. What did I say in the prompt? First, I went to the browser and copied our GitHub link. I will also provide this link in the description. You need to copy this link exactly as it is. After copying, you can go to Claude Code. You can go to Codex. Or you can use Cursor. You can use whichever one you want. You have to go there and tell it to install this, and you need to paste the link ahead. And I also told it to do whatever it finds necessary to install this. So this skill of ours, the RE [3:44] skill, uses these two in the backend. One is Ghidra and the other is Hopper. You can read about both of these. What are these two things? So, here I have told it to install them, because we are going to use them. This skill of ours, along with this, with Ghidra, to reverse engineer an app or a website. All the prompts that I have shared with Claude, you will find them all on my website, which you can easily copy. So [4:06] you just have to go to the description. You will find the link to my website. Or I will directly share this resources page with you. You need to come to this link. After coming to the link, you will see the video thumbnail, title, and everything here. You have to click on View Video Resources. And as soon as you click, you will see the entire prompt as it is inside. Which you can also copy with just one click. And if you want to use it as it is. You can use it as it is. If you want to make some changes in it, you can perform those changes as well. So let's go back [4:34] to Claude and move forward. So after sending this prompt, it took some time and here it has completed the whole process. Inside it, it has installed our RE skill. It has installed Ghidra. And it also installed some other things that I told it to, whatever it feels is necessary to use this skill in our [4:51] system, it has installed all of them. It also provided us with some other suggestions, but for the setup we told it that we are going to use Ghidra. For that, it has installed everything necessary. What did I do after that? After that, I gave it another prompt in which I told it. So here I told it to use the RE skill. Create multiple sub-agents so that everyone gets a small task each. Using those sub-agents , I have to recreate Xkedro. The website I told you about, on which I explained it to you. I have asked it to recreate that website. Along with that, I told it that I am sharing its link [5:24] with you, and I need you to create and provide me with a simpler version of it where we can create multiple boxes. We can connect them with each other. We can write text inside them. We can change their outlines. We can change the colors and such inside that box. I also mentioned that the save feature should be there so that if we want to save anything, we can do it. I provided it directly with the link to that website. And then at the end, I told it again to use the RE skill, meaning our [5:49] skill, to first reverse engineer it. Understand how it is built. What is its tech stack, etc.? Understand all these things. And build and provide me with a similar tool that I can use. That's all I explained to it. So it ran this entire prompt, and after running, if you look below, it has mentioned what all it analyzed, showing that it used RE on excalidraw.com, where it created four sub-agents to build a clone which it named Box Flow. Now, you should not use this for cloning purposes. I am just telling you for educational purposes so that you know how you can actually use it. If you want to take [6:26] inspiration from someone, you can take it. If you like a feature in any website or project, you can analyze it. You can back-track and understand how it works. You can use it in your project. But make sure to change everything manually. Now, here it analyzed things like it being a Vite-built React app. How shapes are being drawn? Which font was used? It has analyzed a lot of these things on its own. Now here, it has created multiple sub-agents. What are sub-agents basically? You have one main [6:51] agent. It created smaller sub-agents. And those sub-agents have their own tasks in which they are specialists. So it created four sub-agents here. The first is for the model, the second is the renderer, the third is the editor, and the fourth is for the UI. So all of these together are going to build our final product. It took half an hour here and built this whole thing and provided it to me. I am explaining it to you directly. But if you actually go to build this, it is going to be time-consuming. Because if I explain it to you from the beginning. So this first prompt of ours has run for [7:21] approximately 38 minutes. You can see here. Then where I told it to reverse engineer the entire Excalidraw here, to clone it. To provide us with a similar app, to provide a similar website like it. It has run this for a good amount of time too. It ran for approximately half an hour. You can see 29 minutes. So here this skill reverse engineered [7:40] it completely, analyzed it fully. Created multiple sub-agents for us. The sub-agents completed their own tasks. And finally, it has built and provided this to me under the name BoxFlow, which is going to work exactly like Excalidraw. Like if I take you to the Excalidraw website again, then you can see here that you are seeing multiple tabs at the top. You can add boxes here , add circles. If you click here, there are some options. Mainly this isn't going to be useful for us because I didn't tell it to use this. But if I click on any text, I will get the option to edit it here. If I make some [8:12] boxes or something. I will get the option to edit them. You are seeing multiple things here. In the same way, now we are going to check how it has built and provided the website we created using this. Before I open it, let me explain it to you. First of all, it has explained how this all came [8:28] together. So it used our RA skill here. Excalidraw is there. It understood its tech stack. And based on that, it took design decisions and such here. It created four sub-agents that ran in parallel. And it helped us to build our BoxFlow. Once it built it, after building it also checks everything properly. So it also checked it here in the browser to see if the boxes and such are working correctly. Are the [8:51] arrows and such working correctly? Whether we are able to change colors or not. Whether it is saving or not. Everything, and it even pointed out some gaps regarding what things you can further improve and add on in this. Now let's use it once. So to use it, I will click on the localhost link here. I will play it here. So my server had turned off just now. Now it will start [9:10] again. So our server has started here. I will close it once or I will open it in the browser and show you. So I will copy its link. I will go to my browser and paste it in a new tab and open it. So you can see that it has provided us with an exact build of the same. Our [9:26] Excalidraw looks something like this. And what we have built here also looks something like this. I had asked to keep it a bit simpler. That is why you won't see many things. Let's suppose we try to build something in it. So here I have selected the rectangle, and I draw a rectangle. We write text inside it. So let's suppose we write "restaurant" here. Now I have written "restaurant" [9:46] here. Now I want to make changes to it. So I can change colors and such from here. I can add color inside it here. There are some other fill options here. Then after that, I can add a stroke here. You will find multiple things here. I can increase or decrease the opacity. It is working properly. If I want to duplicate this, I will click on Control D. It got duplicated. Now instead of "restaurant," I will write " customer" here. Now one of ours is " [10:08] restaurant." And one is our "customer." Let's change its color too. Then after that, if I want to connect both of them , let's suppose we use this arrow and I connect them together. So it is also able to connect. The same way it works in Excalidraw. If I want to move it, I can move it. And along with it, our arrow and everything else is moving too . So this is how I exactly cloned this tool in just a short amount of time. I cloned its functionality. And instead of using Excalidraw here, I can use my [10:37] own web app that I created for my work. Now if you check here, Excalidraw also offers a 14-day free trial. There are sharing options in it as well, but some of those features are paid, which they offer. But I have built this for free. And I can use it for free on my system. That is why this skill called reverse engineering, this GitHub repo, is going so viral, because with it, no matter how big the software is, you can analyze its main features, back-track them, and understand the entire thought process behind how they built it. What all things are added in it. How I can use it within my own project. Whether [11:15] it is some card functionality or cloning some other tool, you can use it in multiple ways. So if you want to see a long-form video on this where we use it from A to Z, then comment "Long video". I will bring a dedicated video on this. Share with me in the comments how you liked this skill. Are you using it or not, and if you are using it, then for what are you building or planning to build with it? What will you back-track? What will you reverse engineer? Do share it with me in the comments. And I hope this video will be helpful for you. If you liked the video [11:42] , then like the video. Subscribe to the channel.
