# If You Have a 9 to 5, Start a Business With AI ASAP Channel: Simon Squibb Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MqiomQx3ZAY Duration: 16 min Language: English Words: 3637 Transcript page: https://viewrankai.com/tools/youtube-transcript/MqiomQx3ZAY --- [0:00] AI is going to destroy millions of jobs. But it could also create greatest opportunity to start a business we've ever seen. So I sat down with Daniel Priestley who's built multiple multi-million pound businesses to learn how to test an idea, find customers, and safely leave your job in an AI world. Because the people who learn to use AI won't just survive what's coming, they'll benefit from [music] it. Let's go. Tell me what you think is going to happen to all the people presently who are going to get disrupted by AI? What [0:27] should they do? Okay, for the last 200 years we've been building a system called the industrial revolution system of the industrial age system. And that whole system is about offices and jobs and factories and a school system that puts you into those kind of jobs. And AI and digital technology and social media has disrupted that whole system. And on the other side of that we have a new system which is about live and work from anywhere, have customers anywhere, be entrepreneurial, start turn your idea into something, have a dream, make it a reality. That's on the other side of this, but no one ever prepared us for [0:58] that, right? And it's no different 200 years ago people were prepared to go on work in farms and plow the field and then a tractor got invented and they said, "Oh, wait a second. I've I've only ever been told that I'm going to be a farmer. Now I've got to go into the city and do some different job, right?" So every couple of hundred years there's massive disruption and this is what we're going to have. We're going to have massive disruption and people are going to feel really shitty about it and they're going to feel really upset about it because they're going to say, "Hey, I [1:22] was prepared for a world that no longer exists and this world that does exist, I can see other people doing well. I can see other people, you know, doing incredible things and buying fancy cars and living in great houses and all that sort of stuff. I don't know how to access any of that, right? So we're going to have a very disgruntled population. If we zoom out and we say, [1:39] "Is this a good thing or a bad thing?" In the long run it's a very good thing. And the reason it's a good thing in the long run is because it's going to move humanity forward. If aliens were flying up in in space looking at planet Earth and they said, "Hey, look, these guys have just invented a technology that gives them more intelligence. It allows them to find all the information through all of history and synthesize it into a single conversation about anything they want to talk about at any given time. Right, you [2:04] say, is that going to be good or bad? It's going to be good. Right, of course it's going to be good. Um because intelligence is a good thing. But, is it disruptive? Wildly disruptive. Why have they not updated the education system already to accommodate this change? It's like saying why did they not turn the tanker around quickly? Cuz tankers don't turn around quickly. So, you're not going to change a system that's 150 to 200 years old in [2:25] a year and a half, 2 years, 3 years. This is a system that will change in 20 years. So, the truth is that if you are listening to this and you go, oh, I came through that system and I'm not prepared, that's true. You're going to have to take matters into your own hands. You're going to have to educate yourself, watch your own YouTube videos, read your own books, get your head straight uh on an opportunity, and just accept this is just the the the raw fact is you were born and educated in a time that is no longer relevant. You have to upskill yourself for for the world we're [2:55] now going into. I also think there's huge opportunity for people in this in this moment, right? Because you've got internet, which is giving you millions of views on a video. You've got the ability with AI to create anything and support you in the creation of anything. But, everybody I know who's working for someone is scared of AI. Everybody who's an entrepreneur is excited about AI. So, what side of the fence do you want to sit on going forward? You have to sit on the side of entrepreneur thinking. We've had a long debate about this in the past. I genuinely think now it's no longer can everyone be an entrepreneur. I think [3:26] it's now no choice. If you're that student right now trying to get a job, you're wasting a lot of time and energy going after something that doesn't exist. Yeah. You're better off like you just said, retooling yourself Yeah. and starting something, anything, Yeah. than just wasting your energy not getting a job. Yeah, and it could be that you put together two or three friends and you do it together. And it could be the most fun thing that you've ever done. It's like we sit we sit together and we have a pizza and we have a beer and we talk about ideas and we then run them through [3:57] AI and see what AI thinks. Don't feel like you have to do this on your own. Whenever I've started a business, it's been like a bank robbery. And the way it works is three or four of us are sitting down, drawing on the back of a pizza box, and we're sitting there going, "What if we did this? What if we did that? Let's do a bit of research. Let's check this out." So, it's like we're doing this research and we're talking ourselves into it and we're getting more and more excited. We're going, "This could really work." And then we say, "Great, let's all work hard together and [4:21] try and launch this and when we make some money we'll split it. Rather than three or four people individually going out on their own trying to get a job that doesn't exist anymore, which sucks but it's true. I I didn't make the rules. People that hear me say this stuff and they think, "Oh, Daniel's pro no no he really thinks everyone should be an entrepreneur and he thinks that everyone should not have a job and he thinks that [4:42] there should be no financial security." I'm just surfing the waves like everybody else. Right, if I was born at a different time I'd be telling people to do different things. I'm not pro entrepreneur, I'm pro surf the waves that you're presented with. You you got to pick up the options that are down in front of you. Exactly. Right now [4:57] it is entrepreneurship. You have to play the cards you're dealt and yeah, and it is entrepreneurship. Now, frankly, there's still a lot of people in a job they hate. And to me, okay, you could argue right now a lot of people have got a job. You're lucky to have a job. There's an argument for that. [5:10] There is an argument for that. But I also want to warn people that this disruption coming is so severe, if you're in a job that you love, you should still be aware of what's coming. If you're in a job you hate, there has never been a better time than right now to jump ship and try something. And so yes, you need to make sure you've got six months of savings. Maybe you've got a backup. But the likelihood if you've got a job now and you try something for six months, you're [5:33] probably still going to get a job. There's also ways to start a business that do not require you to throw everything in the bin. Like you can you can do some testing and you can have clients lined up. One of the ways is is to launch a waiting list. Like let's say you had a job and let's say you're earning pretty decent money, and you're thinking to yourself, "Don't look a gift horse in the mouth." And I would agree with you, by the way. This is not me saying I I'm not saying be reckless. I'm saying don't be reckless. Let's But let's imagine this scenario. You've got [5:58] a job, you're earning 60 grand a year, and you think to yourself, "Well, that's an amazing fortunate thing. I do not want to just look a gift horse in the mouth, but I hate this, and this is not my future, and this is not my life, and I do not want this as my future, but I also don't want to be reckless." If you were to launch a waiting list, and you would send out some emails, send out some DMs, and say, "I'm launching a business next year or later in the year, and I'm just asking people to fill in a a few questions to tell me about [6:21] yourself and your you know, what what you're interested in, and what price points you'd be happy with." If you were to get 400 people to join a waiting list, and you only need 15 20 clients in order for you to launch your own business, that's not reckless. You now actually you have the data. So, I recently launched a new business. I was actually on the fence as to whether it was a good idea or not. And I thought if we get more than 750 people on the waiting list, then I will go ahead and I will launch this business. We put out a little campaign, 4 and 1/2 thousand [6:48] people joined the waiting list. See, a business has two sides, which is the demand and supply. Everyone thinks that a business is when you have something to supply. A business is when you have demand. Validate the business idea first. Now, you've got School App that people can use. So, there's a tool there. The biggest thing that comes up is how do I get it to anybody? You know, like I don't have a mailing list. I don't have [7:09] So, I've got a great answer to that. Let's quickly talk about what to put on the on the waitlist first, and then I'll talk about how to drive people to the waitlist. So, the waitlist should be a landing page that tells people what it is you're going to do. So, it's got a headline that says, "We are launching a new approach to blank." So, you might say, "We're launching a new approach to coffee." Then you want to say what [7:31] what's going to be different about it. It's coffee that builds your dreams. This is what we're launching. Here's why it's of value. So, here's the value proposition. A few little points of proof. Three people who say it's a good idea, or some academic research that says it's a good idea. 84% of people struggle with this. Put all of that on the landing page. If you would like early access to this product or service, join the waiting list, and you will also receive discounts and bonuses that are only available to people on the waiting list. So, all of that goes on the landing page first. Then, when they say, [8:01] "Yes, I'm going to join." you say, "In order to join the waiting list, you need to answer five questions." Let me give you the five questions. Question one is which best describes your current situation. I currently drink Starbucks. I currently drink coffee every day. I currently make my coffee at home. Whatever it is, right? Which describes your current situation. Which best describes your desired outcome as a result of getting this coffee. Then, what have you tried that you didn't like, or what have you tried that didn't [8:27] work? Would be question number three. The fourth question would be, uh, which price point or which option do you think would best suit your needs? And you give them three or four options that at different price points. So, you could say, "I would like a subscription for 39 a month. I would like to buy this in my local store, uh, for 199. And then, is there anything else you want us to [8:49] know?" Open question. So, those are the five questions to join the wait list. Name, email, and then those five questions. And then, finally, congratulations, you are now on the waiting list, and here's a short video explaining our next steps that are coming. And then, you let them know, uh, as the months progress, we're [9:06] going to let you know our launch date. We're going to let you know our discounts available for you. We're going to let you know this. Keep an eye on your email inbox, because we're going to send everything to your email. On the back end, you can now analyze the data. So, you can say, "Oh, look, this seems really popular with people who work in the city." The other thing, too, is you can export that data to Claude. This is 40 people who just joined my waiting list. Here's the copy on the landing page of that I've put out. Tell me 10 insights about the people who are on my waiting list that [9:35] I, uh, about my ideal customer and what makes them tick. And Claude just looks at that spreadsheet and says, "Oh, looks like your typical customer is 43 years old, earns 50,000 pounds working as a lawyer, is trying to achieve this outcome, is trying to do this, has tried this but it didn't work." And then it brings even more research to the surface. It says, "This type of person typically struggles with this. This type of person is already buying from these brands." So, just getting 30 to 150 people on the waiting list starts a whole process of [10:05] validation. If you don't have any existing client or let's say you don't know anybody. Let's just take them extreme example. You have no social media followers, you know you don't know anybody. Short form, long form, lead form. So, short form, long form, lead form. So, you put short form content every single day. The short form content links to a single piece of long form content which is 6 minutes to an hour. So, 6 to 60 minutes. And the long form content explains what you're actually up to in a bit of detail. Think of it as an explainer video. And then the lead form is if you're interested in this, [10:39] register by joining the wait list. So, short form content promotes the long form video. A 30-second video promotes a 6-minute video. A 6-minute video promotes the waiting list. Doesn't have to be video, could be a short post on LinkedIn that's written, goes to a longer article on LinkedIn that is a longer thesis, goes to a registration of interest page if you're interested in that. Once you do 30 pieces of short form, analyze which one was the most effective and turn that into an ad. And then when you're ready and you can afford it, you can boost with ads. And that piece of content is your new ad [11:13] that goes to the long form which goes to the lead form. So, you can ramp it up really fast. So, what I do with my businesses, I launch them with organic content and then once the organic content's hitting a nerve and and it's working, we're then boosting that with ad ad spend in in to throw fuel on the fire. You know, a couple of years ago you and I did a podcast together and it was a short-form video of me wheeling a bin [11:37] Yes. and you said, "What's your dream?" And then you said, "Shall we go and talk about it?" Yes. And then it went to a longer-form piece of video. The short-form got, I don't know, a million views. The long-form got 200,000 views and then we saw people filling in our forms as a result of it. [11:52] Short-form. need to say Short Short-form long-form video. We're running the world's biggest business competition. We're giving up to a million US dollars away and free help. The link's down below. Join. It will be fun and we'll help you make your dream a reality. When do you think is the right time to say move on from a job you don't [12:10] love and pursue your idea? When you have 10 times the number of clients that you need on a waiting list. So, if you need 30 clients and you've got 300 people on a waiting list, you are you are ready to move on. And if you've got the price data and they're actually saying, "Yeah, I'm I'm not just telling you to make you feel good, I'm [12:25] ready to sign up." They wouldn't pay a deposit. Just do it. Validate the market. Val- You as soon Don't take a risk. I'm not saying take a risk. Validate your market. You don't have to be reckless. to nothing to do that. If you are doing something that does not involve the online world, literally go knock on doors or stand out the front of a busy shop and with a clipboard and just do the exact same thing but talk to real people on the street, right? You've You talk to people on the street. Um if I was going to launch a uh lawn mowing [12:54] business, I would not buy a lawn mower. I would not spend any money on lawn mowing equipment. I would walk around a nice neighborhood and say, "We're going to be launching in your area. How often would you like your lawn mowed? How much are you prepared to pay? Right, let me get you signed up. We're going to be launching in a couple of months. I'll [13:08] let you know as soon as we're ready." Once I've got all the houses signed up, then I'll buy a lawn mower. Right? So, that's exactly what I did at 15. There you go. That's exactly the model I I'm 15 years old and knocked on a door and said, "Your garden's messy." Cuz the great thing about a garden you can actually see, like dirty windows you can see [13:22] them, right? You can literally go and go with the business. You know what you can do today? You can take an iPad, take photo of the front of the house, say chat G B T make an image of this house all cleaned up and landscape garden, and it'll just create the image for you, and then you go up to the front door and say, "Do you want your house to look like this or like [13:37] this?" Good idea. Like new gardening company. Do AI tools change any of your past rules? Well, the AI tools are essentially they change the game because they are a general purpose legal help. They can help you with a contract or an agreement. They can check contracts and agreements with you. They are general purpose marketing advice. [14:00] They're general purpose copywriting. They're general purpose landing page design. Scoreapp.com has an AI tool built in that allows you to build the landing page or the waiting list in three or four minutes just by saying, "This is my customer and this is what they're trying to do." And then it says, "All right, here's the landing page. Here's the questions. Everything's built [14:15] for you." Um so, the speed goes through the roof. The cost goes through the floor because of AI tools. So, the risk has massively reduced. Because we've gone from social media that algorithmic media, algorithms are basically AI tools. That means that you can reach people anywhere in the world that you want to reach. So, the risk has gone down. The upside's gone up, you know, essentially. That short form, AI will tell you what to put on a short form post. Uh that long form, AI [14:43] will help you to script the long form. Claude does it. Chat G B T does it, right? So, you can use free tools to go short form, long form, lead form. You literally can implement this stuff faster and easier than ever with less money. So, time is now to crack on with it though because what's what's about to happen with AI? Imagine that for every year for the last 50 years, London Marathon is for people who want to run uh the London Marathon with their feet with their shoes, but then imagine they say, "Oh, by the way, going forward, if you want to drive in a car, [15:12] uh you can drive your car on the London Marathon, and uh we'll pay out the trophies to whoever finishes first. Um so, feel free to drive your car. Whoever gets in their car starts finishing the London Marathon in a matter of minutes. Uh and then whoever's running still finishes in 3 and 1/2, 4 and 1/2, 5 and 1/2 hours, and there's no competition anymore. So, where we are right now is that the game has changed from traditional businesses to AI-powered businesses. And the AI-powered businesses, they they are leveraging very powerful technology, so they're [15:44] going to win. Thanks so much for sharing all of your knowledge today. --- About this transcript Read from YouTube's own caption track and laid out by ViewRank AI (https://viewrankai.com).
