# Watch Me Add $1,000,000 LIVE To This Ecommerce Brand (Email Marketing Strategy) Channel: Max Sturtevant Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G2NYaWbcCKs Duration: 14 min Language: English Words: 3323 Transcript page: https://viewrankai.com/tools/youtube-transcript/G2NYaWbcCKs --- [0:00] Okay, let's add a million dollars in annual revenue for a real brand in this video. I know that sounds crazy, but I've literally done this for over 50 different brands and it's just by fixing their e-commerce funnel and utilizing their email marketing correctly. You'll see everything in the video from how do we actually get people into the funnel, what do we actually send these people to get them to buy, what does the copy look like, what does the design look like, and the tactics that I use throughout the process. So, there are two types of people in this world. You have people who know who Whoop is, and then you have [0:29] people who live under a rock and they don't know who Whoop is. They're bracelet that you can wear and it tracks all your fitness data and any of your general health data like your sleep, your recovery scores, activity levels, and more advanced tracking like your heart rate variability. And they have crushed it up to this point just by having an amazing product, but also by doing strategic partnerships with affiliates and executing quality social media content. Despite achieving growth to over $100 million every year, there is one channel that is getting left in the dust and leaving them a ton of revenue on the table. And that, of course, is email. So, [1:01] specifically in this video, I'm going to be going over the three-step process that we're going to do to add a million dollars this year to their business. So, I'm going to go to their website here, and the first thing that we see on their website is we see this pop-up form. If you ever don't want to use a pop-up form, shut up. $100 million brands do it, so there's obviously a reason for it. But with this pop-up form, I can literally guarantee that I would double the opt-in rate and in turn double their list growth and in the long run double their email revenue. There are just so [1:30] many low-hanging fruit here. Pop-ups are the most underrated aspect of your whole e-commerce funnel and is the lowest hanging fruit for almost every single e-commerce brand that I analyze, especially brands who are out there spending a ton of money on ads and bringing traffic to their website. You see, with ad prices getting higher and higher, it's becoming more expensive to [1:47] get traffic actually to your website. And even when you do, in 2025, customers are leaving websites and not shopping more than any other time before because there are thousands of other brands out there and thousands of others who are popping up every single day. But if we can capture the email address of your website traffic you're spending so much to acquire, we can then send content over emails to get people to purchase, which literally costs a fraction of a penny compared to spending a ton more on paid ads. So just by increasing this email opt-in rate, we can make Whoop way more profitable. We've literally tweaked [2:16] just a couple things in some pop-up forms per clients and have increased opt-in rates by triple. So let's break down what they're doing and how we'd fix it. So we'll pick apart everything here, but the first thing that stands out is there's really no reason for someone to sign up to this email list. Sign up for Whoop to stay updated with latest news, health tips. Like nobody's going to give their email up for that. People gatekeep their email. They don't just want to give you it for free. So we really need to change this offer to be something more intriguing and give people a reason to sign up. Now we don't want to [2:45] introduce any new discounts because that's going to hurt their margins. But what we can do is just highlight the discount they're already giving on first purchases. You can see right here that they offer a free trial. Why don't we gatekeep this behind an email address, at least for the pop-up form, so we can get people to sign up. You literally get to buy a Whoop for zero dollars. You get it sent to you and it's literally zero dollars and you get it for a month. So I would change this copy to just be try Whoop for zero dollars. Get it sent to your house. And we're going to get a ton [3:13] more people signing up. And on top of that, button saying continue, somebody knows they're going to have to enter their phone number after this as well. So when we give the offer, we just want to say claim now. And then clean up some of the design, make it a little bit sleeker. Let's just go and edit a pop-up form. Okay, for sake of time, I just want to show you this updated design so that you can use it yourself. You can build this in any platform. I'm in Mailchimp right now using Ampt. Ampt is a pop-up extension which you can use on Mailchimp, which we do for a lot of our [3:40] clients just cuz you have a lot more capabilities with your design. You can also build this fine inside of Klaviyo with the forms. But I just want to show you like the design and like the styles and psychologically what works. And what stands out is we show this right here, showing the person exactly what they're getting, and we're saying you've got one month free. Then we say claim it or decline it. And then after if somebody clicks claim, then we ask for their email address. Now, this psychologically just works better because humans, it's called commitment bias. Once you start doing something, you're much more likely to follow through. And so, just [4:10] everybody, they don't think they're going to have to enter their email address, and so they click claim free trial, and then email address pops up, and they're like, "Yeah, I already started. Let me claim it." And then it says to check your email, and then you can go back to your website. And I guarantee that this is going to at least [4:23] double or triple their opt-in rates. Just so simple. Copy this sort of layout, do it yourself, go to Klaviyo. I like to keep things as simple as possible, so I could literally just choose something like this. And in Klaviyo, I can change to mobile right here, and we could literally just edit the copy and say, "You've got one month free." And we can add that extra step just by cloning this, do something like this, move you to the front, remove this email step right here, change this to want one month free, adjust some of the spacing here, remove this, and then play around with the spacing, add the logo, [5:00] and then once somebody clicks this, then we can go on to the next step right here. And then just copy the same design elements that we're doing right here. This alone I can guarantee would double their email opt-in rate and their email revenue in the long run. If I had to guess, their current form is converting roughly 1% of people who see it. This upgraded form, if I had to estimate for brand this big, will convert at around 6 to 8%. Not too shabby. Okay, so that was step one, cleaning up the lowest-hanging fruit, and making sure we're actually getting a lot of people to join our [5:25] email list. Now we can actually try to get these people to convert. They're on the email list, we can send them marketing for cheap. So now we need to figure out, what do we send to these people? The strategy and topics behind your emails is by far the most important part of getting emails that convert. You could have the best-looking, conversion-optimized emails, but if they're about things that the customer doesn't care about, they're not going to interact. We want to build an email calendar that balances building goodwill with the customers while also promoting ourselves as an authority. If we only send sale, sale, sale, then people are [5:52] going to unsubscribe and we're going to have a bad reputation. So, let's create a live calendar for the month of February together. But first, let's take a look at what they're currently sending. Here are some of the topics. This was like the email when I signed up, track the metrics that matter. We'll talk about copy and design in a little bit. I'm just looking at the strategy here. 24/7 fitness coach, why we're different, understand your body better, the most trusted wearable, there's no better time to join and then we're doing [6:15] discount stuff, promotional stuff. Something I'd really like to see is a lot more education, building yourself up as an authority, as well as boosting your goodwill. So, giving people tips on fitness, nutrition, everything. I'm not really seeing a ton of that, but the topics here actually are really good and I like what they're sending. And then for the time of the year, they're also sending like the discounts for Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and then um December. But we're just missing that umph. And they're not sending enough. We want to send at minimum three campaigns a week, ideally four to five campaigns a week if you're a brand and this big. So, [6:45] let's plan out this calendar. And so, I actually have this custom GPT that I developed and I've trained with over 350 pages of guides and prompts about email marketing. And you can have access for free. It's just in the description. Um if you click main menu, it's going to give you some options and one of the options is going to be to develop us an email marketing calendar for whatever month that we want. You can see right here, create me an email marketing campaign calendar for next month. So, I'm just going to type in the and then it's going to ask for some information such as the website, brand details, [7:13] customer insights, and then the month. So, let me type that out for Whoop. So, for a big brand like Whoop, ChatGPT is going to kind of know them, so I kept this pretty brief, but just answer this, brand details, the website, customer insights, and the month of February. This calendar isn't going to be perfect on the first go, but let's click enter and see what it gives us. All right, so here it is spitting this out, focusing on health optimization, talking about Valentine's Day as well. So, week one, February 1st, welcome to February, fresh month, new goals. Love that. And then recovery spotlight, the power of rest. I [7:43] love that as well. And then, we have Valentine's Day prep, self-care with Whoop, fitness strain tips for busy professionals. Super good value-based email right here. Then, Valentine's Day campaign, a partner challenge. Wow, that's really smart. Having a campaign, encouraging people to partner with your partner for Valentine's Day. That's really cool. Sleep optimization, tons of value there. Milestone celebration, customer achievements. Get some customer milestones. Awesome. And then, some performance insights, and then monthly recap and a March preview. This is awesome, but I want to increase the amount of emails. So, I'm going to say, "Add more emails so that we send three [8:17] to four times per week." Awesome. Perfect. We got a calendar with a couple more emails. Now, we have 14 in the month. That's a really good cadence. So, I'm very happy with how this ended up. You'll notice there's a ton of education, but also kind of like promoting ourselves in subtle ways without being too pushy for the customer, while also making it personal and talking specifically about the customer and what they can do to improve their performance. This is amazing. Love this. Again, you can have this custom GPT. Just go to wellcopy.net/gpt, and you can have access for free. So, this is the strategy that we'd carry for [8:51] every single month throughout the year. And this would print for them. And that was phase two. Now, let's actually go to number three, because now we have people growing our lists, and we have a strategy built out for sending effective email campaigns. Now, we need to actually write the copy and design the emails. Let's actually break down one of the emails that I received from them, and then we're actually going to completely upgrade this. So, these are a series of emails that I have received, and just look at these, and you're like, "Meh." These are so just meh. They just look like a massive corporate brand that [9:22] is just boring. Nobody wants to receive the same-looking email every single time. They're following the same template, and I'm sure their unsubscribes are extremely, extremely high. Modern customer needs newness. They need variability to stay engaged with their emails. They don't want to see be same thing every time. And another major thing that jumps out is look how low these buttons are in the emails. Oh my goodness. The customer has to scroll like 2 miles in order to reach that first button. Their click rates are probably absolutely awful. They're not getting people actually to take action and go to their website and buy. We need to have buttons way up at the top of [9:54] every single email. And we need to make them clear throughout the email that you can click and go buy yours. But other than that, as far as like the copy, like I actually really like it. The copy isn't that bad. It's not creative, but it's informational. They're using subheadings. But my complaints are just that it's pretty lame. It's a big corporate brand. We can add a little bit of life here. Then also, there is kind of a lot of copy. Maybe we want to simplify that down. The main thing is that these are just not [10:18] conversion-optimized and they're bland. So, let's actually choose this email right here, and we want to upgrade this. So, let's take a look at what I did to upgrade this. Okay, so here is the new email. We can take a look at how the layout is just so different. It's stands out. It's different from these ones. [10:37] It's just a little bit more interactive. And of course, the button way up at the top. The customer can open the email and right off the bat, they get some information and then they can click and go to the website. This would literally double their click rates. And then, rather than being basic, like we're not like other wearables, we're not saying something like, "They not like us." It's a little bit more fun. It's playing off the Kendrick Lamar song. And rather than having ChatGPT discover how WHOOP outperforms other wearables. Now, let's say, "Their fitness tracker, we're a performance partner. There's levels to [11:03] this, and they not like us." Ooh, fire. And then give them the offer. Just right there. Start your free month trial with WHOOP today. And then actually show what you're getting in the app, rather than just like showing all this random stuff. We want to show what it actually looks like in there, and it's so simple. And [11:18] then again, doing the us versus them. They give you numbers, we give you insights. And essentially, all that we're doing in this section is doing the same stuff as right here. We're doing the same information. We're just displaying it in a slightly different way. It's a little bit more interactive and less like all the other ones. Then we show the Whoop and then the app right here, and then we end with start your free trial today, because they don't have that here, but I actually want to educate them on the free trial. You receive a Whoop device, the super band kit, all this stuff, and then ending [11:45] with a big button as well. And then you can shop by category of memberships and accessories right here. So this is the sort of energy that we would want to bring to their strategy. More conversion optimized, add a little bit of life, and just mix things up for the customer. Now to show you in the process just a little bit more, this is how I lay out emails when I'm writing copy. So what I did right here was I just like to map everything out in a Google Doc. We're upgrading this email, and then I like to find an email that I like. So here's an [12:11] email for Magic Mind, where I was like, "Okay, I want to replicate this, cuz this is a great email and a great layout." Now where you can find emails like this is on websites like Mailchimp, and then also really good emails. So this is Mailchimp for example, you can follow all sorts of your favorite brands. So like here's Magic Mind for example. You can look at all of their past emails that they've ever sent, and then you can steal them, use them for yourself. Same sort of deal with really good emails, but it's a little bit different. You're not following specific brands. These are just like emails that [12:37] the owners of this website are uploading because they think they're really good. And again, you can save these and then copy them for yourself. So I always like to go off of something. So I'm just copying this layout of headline, some body copy, and then a button, and then an image. So I wrote up the copy just like this, they're not like us, the same copy as before, and then just split things up by section. And that leads into this next section, where we go like this, and then I knew I was copying the same sort of layout right here. So I just laid it out just like that, end [13:03] with the button, and then the footer. That simple. Then we go to the design app called Figma. You can really use anything, but I like to use Figma. It's the most advanced, but it's also not too difficult to learn. Definitely will take you a little bit, but you can figure it out. Now I actually have an email design YouTube video, which I will plug at the end of this video. Just look up Max Sturtewagen email design, and it should show up. So you can see here how everything was uploaded. You can see here it's just like text sections right here. You can see all the fonts over [13:31] here on the side. This is a button. It's just a rectangle. It's just an image that was uploaded. Everything here you can do it. It's not that difficult. And again, the same section here, images and all these different lines and borders. Everything's just right here. And then boom, we just repeat this for 15 emails a month and we're going to be getting increasingly more people receiving every email because we have that banger pop-up form. Do that over the course of the year guarantee you that's a million dollars of extra profit for Whoop. And you literally just watched that happen in just a few minutes. Now, if you [14:01] thought that was good, you should check out this video where I upgrade emails for five other big brands, Lululemon, Gymshark, Hoka, Alo, and Birkenstock. Really good video. Highly recommend you check it out. And that's it for this one. I will see you in the next one. --- About this transcript Read from YouTube's own caption track and laid out by ViewRank AI (https://viewrankai.com).
