# Why I Use Grok Bot and Cursor Projects Together Channel: Craig Hewitt Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fr2nqjVTxhI Duration: 9 min Language: English Words: 1573 Transcript page: https://viewrankai.com/tools/youtube-transcript/Fr2nqjVTxhI --- [0:00] When someone says AI, you instantly think ChatGPT or Claude, right? Well, there's a third player in the space that I think a lot of us are sleeping on and is quickly becoming my favorite AI company and the tool I go to over and over when I need to get real work done. This is SpaceX. You might be like, what are you talking [0:23] about? SpaceX makes rockets, right? Well, yeah and no. SpaceX makes rockets, they also are behind x.ai. They acquired Cursor, which is the kind of OG original agentic coding platform way before Codex and Claude Code, there was Cursor, which was the place where you could use an agentic kind of harness to write really good software. This is 2 years ago. And Cursor/x.ai/SpaceX is also behind Grokbot, which we've covered here on the channel before. And so, the question is, if you're like, okay, cool, ChatGPT and Codex, I get that. Claude and Claude Code and Co-work, I get that. How do I think about the world of products from [1:14] we'll just call them Cursor, right? Cursor, Grok, Grokbot, x.ai. This is the kind of parent company in the ecosystem. And within this, there's two real paradigms that I want to cover today, which are Cursor Projects and Grokbot. And so, what is Cursor Projects? Cursor Projects is primarily an agentic coding platform. In the blog post here in the video, which is a a cool kind of interview between the two two of the folks on the Cursor team, talk about Cursor Projects being a place where you can have a single very long-running thread about software [1:56] development. And so, as I think about comparing these, what is each of these four and how do you use them? Cursor projects is for building a thing. It is a software tool. Could you adapt this for marketing or operations or sales within a company? Yeah, but I always think I don't want to fight against how a tool is built. So if you're like, "Hey, I want to use a bunch of agents. I want to have one place to control them. I want them to be cloud-based because Cursor projects are by default cloud-based, so they're always on, always running." Again, one of the real benefits of [2:33] cloud agents is they're always running. So you slam the laptop shut at the end of the day, your agents can keep running overnight. You don't have to worry about it. You can control them from your phone without having to worry about your laptop being on and open. So a lot of these real kind of benefits of a cloud-based agent harness orchestration layer. So Cursor projects orchestration layer for cloud-based agents for software development. That's how I think about it. Has all the context, all the skills, all the MCPs, everything kind of built in. So Cursor projects for building [3:08] software. Grok Bot for doing work. Do I'll call it admin work. So admin, finance, sales, marketing, calendar coordination, social media. If I think about what Grok Bot does, it's like a teammate. It's like a personal assistant, maybe. It's a It's a marketing helper in my world. Did a whole video on Grok Bot, and I'll link it in the description below, but think about Grok Bot's going to connect to my call recording software and give me a summary of every call I do, or maybe prep me for [3:42] I do a bit of coaching and consulting. Prep me for calls that I have coming up in the future. Hey, last time you talked to this client, you talked about these things. Make sure you touch on these three things that were deliverables that they said they would give to you. That's a perfect kind of GrokBot thing. Or, hey, monitor social media for mentions about these things and draft a proposed, you know, comment. That That's a really good one, right? Check what's going on in Century and give me a summary of it. Analyze what's going on in Help Scout, you know, my customer support inbox, and give me a download of any tickets [4:17] that I might need, you know, help with. It is, uh, always-on, cloud-based, 24/7 extension of me and the things I do. So, this is the fundamental kind of difference between these two. Now, where things really get interesting is using them together, right? So, I mentioned, you know, GrokBot marketing reporting. For me, sponsor research. I get pitched by sponsors, and if you're a brand out there building in the AI space and you want to work with me, that would be cool. Just drop a message, uh, on on the website. So, craighewitt.com, there's a place where you can fill out a form. We'd love to chat. And And I have a a chief of staff, [4:53] right? Goes through my inbox, triages my inbox, prepares replies, and just helps me manage my day. So, that's the mental model of GrokBot. It's like, what's going on in your world that you just want to extend your functionality. Cursor, I want to build things, right? I want to build software. I want to improve a website. I want to do ongoing [5:11] maintenance. I want to refactor things. I want a single place I can talk to in a long thread that will live forever. In the In the video here, the the person mentioned that they've been talking in a single thread for months. And I'm like, oh my gosh, that's pretty crazy. But, imagine the kind of compounding context that comes from all of your work being directed through a single point on a website or on an app for that long. This is where AI really gets powerful in my experience is when you can channel all of your work through a single place, it builds context and [5:48] builds usefulness and utility over time. The real benefit, I think, is when you use both of these together and you can say, "Hey, what if Grok bot does the research? What if it goes out into the world and does research and formulates ideas, monitors social channels, gets information from your systems, and then gives you the context [6:10] to go build stuff." This is probably, if you think about the human equivalent of this, you know, Grok bot is your team, right? It's the It's the marketing assistant, it's the virtual assistant, it's the sales assistant, it's the customer success person on your team, or the extension of those folks for you. They go gather information, distill it, give you things to where you are the human in the loop and you're making the decisions, and then you hand that off to a cursor project and say, "Hey, I learned all this stuff from the world, and now let's go build this solution to deliver value to the market." So, [6:47] I I just have to stress, like, one you know, Peter Thiel says, "Never bet against Elon." Like, whether you like the guy or not on a personal level, he's one of the best kind of industrialists and technologists of our lifetime. And so, you have to believe that he's going to make space SpaceX, xAI, Cursor, Grok successful. I expect Grok 4.7 to be every bit as good as Astra [7:16] GPT-6 or Fable. And it's supposed to be coming out any day. And the ecosystem of a real kind of personal assistant in Grok bot already is there. Amazing. Check out the video in the link description below if you haven't, you know, checked it out already. And now, Cursor and Cursor projects cloud-based, always-on multi-tenant agent system where you have a single access point to manage all of these [7:43] agents is really powerful. I'm using both exactly how I'm describing them here, and it's a really powerful combination. I'm finding myself bouncing between these and Codex a lot. Just differently. I don't I don't think I can say how and why I like each of them. Um, but I will say I have not opened Claude Code in about 3 weeks. And so that's just as of today. I'm sure Claude and Anthropic are going to launch an awesome model soon that will bring everyone back, but that's just the world we live in these days. And so like I get some hate on the channel here of like, "Oh, Craig, you're flip-flopping back [8:22] and forth between all these tools." Well, yeah, because they're changing. And the best tool today is not what the best tool yesterday was and not what the best tool tomorrow is going to be. And so we owe it to ourselves to stay aware of what the best tool is and use uh kind of agnostic system so we [8:42] can move back and forth between them. And this includes things like Hermes, which are open source and we own, and things that are closed, very admittedly, like Grokbot is. And we just have to be aware of what those tradeoffs are in adopting open versus closed systems and the portability of our information between them. Okay, so I hope this is helpful in kind of leveling how I think about using Cursor Projects and Grokbot [9:05] and where the two can live together. Love to hear how you're using them. Drop a comment in below so we can all level up together. --- About this transcript Read from YouTube's own caption track and laid out by ViewRank AI (https://viewrankai.com).
