# So You Started Using GrokBot? Avoid These 5 Mistakes Channel: Kacper Rutkiewicz | AI Made Simple Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FPdj3-u0kVs Duration: 20 min Language: English Words: 4914 Transcript page: https://viewrankai.com/tools/youtube-transcript/FPdj3-u0kVs --- [0:00] If you just started using Grockbot and it keeps breaking on you, you're probably not doing anything dumb. I've made these same exact mistakes myself and a lot of people are hitting them right now. Bots that stop answering, three bots answering the same exact message, and hitting your usage limits 3 days into the week. If this is your first time here, my name is Casper. I'm the founder of Deeprooted AI. I use these tools every single day to run my business, and I build them out for paying clients. My goal for this video is simple. I'm going to show you the five mistakes beginners make with Rockbot and a fix for each one. By the [0:29] end, you'll know exactly how to keep your real account safe, how to stop your bots from running up a bill and what to do when your bot stops responding. So, get comfortable, grab some coffee, and let's hop straight into the video. We are getting straight into these. We're not going to waste any time today. The first mistake that almost everybody makes and especially beginners when it comes to Grockbot is treating Grockbot like any other AI chatbot. The workflow typically goes like this. You open up your Grockbot and the first thing that people will type in is, "Help me with my email." And for the most part, [0:57] especially with Grockbot, all you're going to get is an answer and then a set of instructions to follow and help Grockbot get set up with your email. Now, compare that to giving it an actual job where you have an outcome, what to actually look in, what not to touch, what to hand back to you, like the outcome, and then stopping and asking before anything gets sent out. The second version is obviously a lot more in-depth. And it's not a question anymore. It's now become a job. Now, the easiest way for me to actually explain the difference between a chatbot and a Grockbot is if you hop into the Gro web [1:25] app, like you're looking at on the screen right now, this is what you would do if you wanted to chat. You could ask it a question. It'll give you an answer. It can look up some stuff for you, and it'll just be a good conversation that you can have, question and answer, and that's all you do. Now, when we hop into my Grockbot setup, you can see that I have multiple different bots that all have one specific job. So, if I hop into Great Owl, which only job is to research new model drops and anything that comes out in the past few days, you can see it [1:49] has a crown that runs every single day at 7:30 in the morning to get me that news. And that's its only job. And if I hop into its description, you can see I have a oneliner of exactly what I needed to look for. Anti- jobs, which are jobs that it may never do, its voice, so short release, note voice, facts only, when it should wake up, refuse, out of scope, then just some learning notes that go into its memory. But obviously this is a lot different than just a regular chatbot. So me chatting to this bot would just be a waste of tokens [2:15] because I have it doing a specific job. And if I wanted to do a weekly roundup of the last weeks of uh drops, then I could have it do that. But just understand that this interface is a lot different than this interface. The simplest way for me to put it is that a chatbot answers you and a Grockbot actually does things for you. So make sure you're giving it a specific job and not just asking it questions. Okay, so we gave it a job. The next thing a lot of us do is give it access to all of our stuff. That's mistake number two. Now, this is a big one. It trips a lot of [2:43] people up and it's actually a mistake I made myself. The way that I found out about this is that if you hop into any of your bots computers, it makes it feel like they have their own. But if you go ahead and click into the files, you can see that every single one of them share the exact same files. They have the same API keys and they have all the same loginins. And that's how it actually works. All your bots share one cloud computer. Now, my favorite way of proving this to help it make sense for you guys is hopping into my chief staff bot and I'll hop into its computer. I'll [3:10] go ahead and click on the file manager. I'll go to box and click on agent data and then I can click and see all these folders are the exact same. I can go to agents right here and all of these files are now the same. So, let's go ahead and close out of this. Let's go to my chief [3:24] content officer, open up its computer. It's going to start its own desktop on the cloud or what it feels like its own desktop, but it's just booting up the same exact computer. So now once that loads up, we'll hop back into the file manager. We can go click on box. We'll go to agent data again. We'll click on agents. And you guys can see the exact same files are here. So we're sharing one cloud computer. Now what that means for us is that if you sign into anything on that computer, and you can log into your email, you can log into any community, you can log into YouTube, [3:52] whatever login that you have, you can log into them on the computer. Every single bot will share that same login. So here's the fix for this. Make sure that you're using a built-in connector first. Before you log into anything on the computer, you want to check first if it has a built-in connector, if it has an API key, or if it has an MCP. If it has any of those three, don't ever log in onto a computer. You will only ever log into the cloud computer. If one of those three things does not exist, and if your workflow or whatever you're creating with Grockbot actually needs an [4:21] API key or some sort of secret, it will always or it should always pop up a little window for you to paste your API key in. So, here's an example of that. We see I have a type safe API key that I was working with for the Jeb video that I posted recently. And it'll pop up a little secure window for you to post your API key in. Never ever post your API key in this message chat. If you accidentally make that mistake, just go ahead and swap those keys out and do it the right way. And I always want to throw this in there just to make sure [4:46] that you guys are protecting yourself. If you're ever sharing a template online, make sure you scrub those templates for any secrets, for any login, anything like that, because your shared templates will carry whatever you left inside of it. So now your bot has a job. It has your login. And from here, it's very, very tempting to start building out a whole team of bots. That would be mistake number three. And honestly, this is a mistake that's kind of tied to usage. And if you've already done this, then you pretty much just followed what your timeline told you to do because this is what everyone's doing. Not only that, in theory, it is [5:16] the correct way to run Grock bots, just not at the start. Here's a specific mess that this creates. Let's say you start a group chat with a ton of different bots, which is one of the things that you can do with Rockbot, and it's really fun and I do recommend it. But let's say you send a message to one of those bots, but [5:30] you don't specifically tag one of them. Now, all three of them are going to go ahead and start responding to you, and now you're burning your usage. So, that's one of the downsides of having multiple bots if you don't know how to orchestrate them properly. You're going to have three bots answering the same request. Or for example, if you hop into your setup and it looks anything like mine with multiple bots, most people think that if you go ahead and right click on this bot and put hide from sidebar, that all its capabilities go away. That is not true. Whatever routines and whatever jobs you have set [5:56] up will continue to run. Just because it's not in your sidebar does not mean that it's not working. And if you've been following any other content creators and the Grockbot videos that they're making, if you go ahead and look at the comments, it's literally everyone saying, "Hey, I set up this team of agents and my entire weekly usage pool is gone." If you're on the lower super Grock plans and cursor plans, getting a team of bots set up is the most expensive part. So, if you do want to do it this way, just know your first week is just going to be purely setup. So, here's my suggested fix. Always start [6:23] with one bot and only add another bot once it's actually earned a job. When you want to use a specific bot, you can just tag that bot by typing the at@ symbol and the name of the bot and it will delegate that task to that bot. And that same thing applies whenever you're in group chats. If you want to be in a group chat and you're only asking one bot to do something specific, make sure you're tagging it. And if you have a bot that you're no longer using, instead of hiding it from the sidebar, make sure you either delete it or turn off the routines that it's running so that the [6:49] only time it's actually doing something is when you prompt it. Now, weekly usage is single-handedly the biggest problem with Grockbot. And if you want to dive deeper and how you can save your weekly usage limit and actually have it stretch out for the entire week, go ahead and click on this video right here. Anyways, more bots doesn't necessarily mean that more gets done. It just means there's more bots working together on a similar task. And that's going to burn your usage. And when you have a team of Grock bots running without anything stopping [7:13] it, that brings us to mistake four. Mistake number four is running your bots with no breaks. This one shows up all over the place. If you're looking on X at all, you'll know that Grockbot burns a lot of tokens and it actually is pretty expensive. Even though Grock 4.6 and Grock 4.7 are pretty cheap models, this also scales significantly if you're using multiple bots. And I want to clarify this because this is definitely a topic of confusion when it comes to Grockbot. There are two ways of getting Grockbot access. Either a cursor subscription which ranges from $20, $60 to $200 or a super Grock subscription which is either $30 or $300. Now those [7:49] subscriptions cannot stack. So if you get a $30 Super Grock and a $60 cursor plan, that does not equal a $90 plan. You're just going to get moved to the higher plan that you have. Now what happens is a lot of people get tired of hitting this weekly limit. So, they turn on extra usage. Well, then they forget about it. So, there are two specific switches that I want you guys to flip right away. The first switch, we're [8:09] going to hop straight into our Grockbot. We're going to click on settings over here. And then inside of settings, we're going to go ahead and scroll down to see these auto review rules. Now, this is a feature of Grockbot that I see no one covering. And I'm not too sure why because this is just protecting the user, right? So, we have auto review and we have autoreview rules. So anytime Grockbot wants to take a specific action, you can type that rule in here and then give it permissions like allow automatically or ask first. So you guys can see for example for me, Grockbot loves spinning up cloud agents, [8:38] especially when you tell it to do anything code related and I'm not a big fan of that. So I always tell it if it wants to spin up cloud agents or use the Grock build CLI on my desktop that it needs to ask me first. Now this auto review rule section should be filled out completely. Like this is where you guys want to spend a lot of time making sure that you're putting guard rails on your Grockbot. So, you could add rules to anything money related, anything that you're posting, anything that you're scheduling, drafting, whatever the case may be, put it in this autoreview rule section, please. The second switch here [9:06] is all about money. So, we're just going to go over to usage and billing. And you guys can see I have my weekly usage here. And then there's an ondemand monthly limit. So, now there's three options here. There's a fixed, there's an unlimited, and there's none. Please, for the love of God, if you're not rich, do not go on unlimited because if you forget, it will hurt your bank account really bad. What you're going to want to do is actually click on fixed. So, if you know that you're going to be going over your limit, make sure that you set a number. I'll never use $100. I'll use [9:32] maybe $50 max. And I always have this fixed because once it hits it, it won't go any further. Then, all you would do is go ahead and click on save. And this will just save that fixed limit. So, anytime you're doing a long task, you know you're about to hit that. You'll have that extra usage so your bot doesn't just get cut off and you have to wait till the next week. That covers two switches. And these are just mistakes or things that I just don't see people talking about enough that I really wanted to cover. So, we covered two switches here. One so it can't act [9:56] without you and one so it can't spend without you. Now, even with these brakes on and all the mistakes that we already covered, Grockbot is still being developed. It's still pretty new. And the reality is sometimes it's just going to stop working. Whether that's a cursor outage, whether that's a super grock outage, whatever the case may be, it might just stop working. Here's what you shouldn't do if that ever happens to you. Mistake number five, and this one's actually pretty niche and you won't see it that often, but I do want to cover it. your bot freezes and you go straight for the biggest button, reset. And if [10:24] you have no idea what I'm talking about, I'm talking specifically about resetting your Grockbot's computer. If we go ahead right here and we see this button, if I go ahead and zoom in on this, you can see that it says start fresh if the computer gets stuck. It's rebuilt from your last save snapshot. So, very recent changes may be lost. So, anything that hasn't been synced up yet is going to get completely lost. So, we want to avoid that because the reality is it might just be a little bug and you might just have to wait it out. And resetting your computer is something that the [10:51] impatient person does and wastes a lot of time. So, instead, we're going to work up this little ladder that I created. Starting off with the gentlest part first. Step one is simply just checking your usage. Now, I know it may sound dumb, but a lot of the time that's exactly why your Crockpot stops working. It's because of you hit your usage limit. So, you'll go down to the bottom left over here, click on your account, and you'll see your weekly usage meter right here. You can also have a weekly usage bot that covers your usage and tells you exactly where you are. But then you would just go ahead here, click [11:18] on change limit, and you could see exactly where you're at. Obviously, if you're 100% and it's red, you can't use your Grockpot anymore. Step two is something your grandma would tell you. Just quit, retry the app, maybe restart your computer, and have it boot up again and see if it works. Then this avoids hitting that retry button. You keep everything that you worked on. And the reality is Grockbot is just buggy sometimes. I've already probably sent hundreds of feedback things to the Grockbot team to fix. It just is what it is right now. It's so powerful, but it's still in early development. Step number three, we're going to hop into the [11:46] settings and we're going to go to the update section. And on the update section, you're always going to want to make sure you're on the up-to-date latest version. I would just suggest turning automatic updates on. You can always press check updates and that's going to tell you that you're up to date. The second thing that you can do [11:59] is always update Grockbot's computer. Now, as you guys can see, I have an update button, and I'm going to go ahead and click it here in a second. But I want to tell you exactly what you keep and what you lose every time you update your Grockbot computer because a new Grabbot computer version always pretty much launches with a new version of Grabbot. Right? So what this button does it updates the computer your assistant share your files and login stay but [12:20] installed apps and packages are removed. All assistants update together. So anything that you've installed on your Grockbots computer or any packages that you've put on there, those will get completely removed every time you update the computer. So, just understand what apps you have on there and what packages you have on there before you go ahead and click on this update button. I'm going to go ahead and click on this button right now. It's always going to ask you to double check and to click again to confirm. I'm going to go ahead and do so. And then it's going to start updating my Grockbot computer. And what [12:45] it's going to do is it's going to update it. I'm going to reset the computer. And now I have a fresh computer ready to go. Now, step four. This one hasn't happened to me personally and I haven't seen it inside of my Grockbot setup yet. But if your Grockbot tells you that it cannot reach its computer, you may get a third option called recover. If that option shows up for you, always try that option before pressing reset. Reset you should almost never touch because that's just going to slow you down. It's going to lose a ton of files that you created and I just wouldn't recommend it. There's [13:12] other options that will help you get to where you want to go. But this recover section will be kind of similar to update where you'll lose the apps and packages and you'll keep all the files, login, etc. And then of course, step five, your last resort. If nothing is working, you'll hit this reset button. And let's just go ahead and read this together so all of you understand what [13:30] actually happens when you press reset. Start fresh if the computer gets stuck. It's rebuilt from your last save snapshot. So very recent changes may be lost. Not the end of the world, but we definitely want to avoid it. And just if you're ever curious, they actually just added to show you exactly what's happening when you're updating your Grabbots computer. So you can see the status on it. Everything is still running. You can see that it's transferring my data, starting computer, cleaning up, reconnecting. I'm going to go ahead and keep waiting and we're going to be all good once this is fully loaded up and updated. Now, before we [13:58] wrap up, those were the five most common beginner mistakes that I've seen happen, but I always want to provide you guys with a little bit more value at the end of these videos if you've made it this far. So, let's do a quick speedrun of some other common mistakes with some quick fixes. Number one, scheduling a routine you never ran. The fix here would be to run it once, save it as a skill, run it a few times with that skill, then schedule it. Next, we have [14:18] running routines every few minutes. Right here, we want to completely avoid that. We want to have routines running hourly, daily, or on a trigger. Number three is having your first job be something that requires a login. The fix for this is to always pick a first job that requires a built-in connector. Four is installing tools outside of the workspace folder inside of your Grockbots's computer. The fix here is to always have those files inside of that [14:39] folder because apps are replaceable. Number five is having no backup. You can fix this by having Grockbot write an everything I know document that you own. Number six is collecting templates and never actually finishing the job. The fix here is to pick one job that makes something you'll actually use. Number seven, sharing a template with a key inside of it. Before you share anything online, make sure you audit and strip any secrets from that template. Number eight, stacking Super Grock on top of [15:03] your cursor plan to get more usage. Subscriptions do not stack. My recommendation here is just to go with the $60 cursor plan. The usage limits there are very friendly and that's what I use right now. And the last one for today's video is blaming yourself for when your Grockbot starts working. Don't be so eager to hit any reset buttons to uninstall, reinstall. Just go ahead and check if there's an outage first and run through that four rung ladder that I showed you guys earlier. And if you've made it this far, now you know the five most common mistakes. So give it a job, not a question. Guard your login. Never [15:31] put your keys in the chat. One bot first, make sure you're earning the second bot. Two breaks, one that protects your actions and one that protects your money. And then reset last. Always start with the gentlest first on the ladder whenever your Grockbot stops working. And of course, I wanted to give you 10 more additional mistakes and fixes that you guys can start applying because I know one of these at least you guys have probably faced. I know I threw a ton at you guys today. So, if you got lost at any point, don't worry. I'm going to be dropping a full free resource guide that covers [15:57] everything that we talked about in this video. All you guys need to do is click the link down below, enter in your email, join my free school community, AI made simple. There you'll find this resource guide that covers all 15 mistakes and all the 15 quick fixes that you need alongside all my other Grockbot [16:11] resource guides that I've been creating. As always, if you've gotten any value from this video, drop a like, hit that subscribe button, turn that notification bell on so you don't miss one of my videos, and leave a comment down below on which of these mistakes you've encountered yourself. If you've made it this far in the video, thank you so much, and I'll see you guys in the next one. God bless, guys. Hey there. If you're still here, that means you've made it to the end of the video. First of all, thank you so much. If you're new [16:38] here, my name is Casper. Something I like to do at the end of all my videos is pray for you guys, my audience. I do this because I genuinely care about you guys. I love and appreciate the fact that you guys give me your precious time and attention to watch and learn from my videos. Sometimes I'm still in disbelief about that, that there's so many of you out there watching and eager to learn about this AI stuff. Um, I also do this because I genuinely want to see all of you live great lives. I want to see you guys be loving people, caring people, um, spreading the word of God, uh, and [17:04] things like that. But most importantly, I do this because I know that there's people out there that need to hear a prayer. I know that there's people who out there who are struggling, whether that's with anxiety, depression, uh financials thoughts, the the loss of someone. Um there's just so many things that this world throws at us. And I know there's a lot of people that feel alone right now. I want to I want those people to know that you're not alone. There's people that are willing to help you. And there's people out there that are praying for your well-being. Uh we're all brothers and sisters of Christ. Um, [17:34] some of us may not be and that and that's okay. But, uh, just just know that there's people out there who love you, who pray for you, and want you to be okay. Um, if this makes you uncomfortable at any point, please feel free to click off the video. I'm not here to force anything on anyone. Uh, but do know if you leave that Jesus loves you. I'm going to go ahead and [17:51] pray for you guys. Heavenly Father, thank you so much for this day. Thank you so much for the breath of life that you've bestowed upon us today. Lord, thank you for all the opportunities. Thank you for all the blessings uh that we have in our lives today. Lord, I just want to take this time to thank you so much for this platform. Thank you so much for the audience, the people on the other side of this screen who and their precious time and attention to watch and learn from my videos. Lord, I just pray and ask that you just continue to allow me to spread the right information to, you [18:22] know, just be on a platform that honors and glorifies you in everything that I say and everything that and any action that I take. And Lord, just protect me in that. Lord, I just want to pray a blessing over my audience. A bless a blessing of just strength. Lord, strength to just stand firm in our faith and just continue spreading your good word and just coming to you whenever we need problems. Lord, give us the strength to reach out to someone. Uh mental health is a big problem these days, Lord, and I just ask that you continue to give us the strength to reach out to the people that we need to [18:52] reach out to to get help that we need. Lord, I also want to take this time to pray for the people that are struggling. Our brothers and sisters who are out on the streets or battling suicide or struggling financially, getting bankrupt, can't afford food, can't afford whatever whatever it may be. Lord, I just want to pray for those people. Uh pray that they see it through. Pray that you reveal yourself to them. Uh whenever that case or whenever that time may be, uh Lord, just be there for them. Uh lift them up. we lift them up to you and just help them understand that there's people out there [19:22] who are willing to help them and people out there who love them. Lord, I just want to take this time to thank you for your grace. I want to thank you for your love and I want to thank you for your son, Jesus, and his sacrifice on the cross. Because of that sacrifice, we can now have a relationship with you, which [19:33] is a relationship we do not deserve. Continue blessing us, Lord. Continue being us being there for us when we need you. And we pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen. Now, go have a blessed day, guys. And I'll see you in next one. --- About this transcript Read from YouTube's own caption track and laid out by ViewRank AI (https://viewrankai.com).
