# Speedrunning a $1M Email Marketing Campaign in Under 30 Minutes Channel: Max Sturtevant Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5LDLCV1jVRk Duration: 20 min Language: English Words: 5069 Transcript page: https://viewrankai.com/tools/youtube-transcript/5LDLCV1jVRk --- [0:00] Is it possible to build an email marketing campaign in under 30 minutes? Well, after working with over 379 figure e-commerce brands and generating $250 million in the process, I've gotten pretty good at this stuff and I'm confident that I can pull it off. If I don't finish this in time, I'm going to give one person in the comments a completely free store and email marketing audit. So, drop your brand's website below. I'll be building a complete send-ready email campaign for Stanley in under 30 minutes. Live on camera, every decision explained out loud, the angle, the copy, the design, the segments, send time, absolutely everything. So, if you run a brand or [0:29] you work with brands, I suggest you keep your Klaviyo account open and take notes. Cuz [music] this is exactly how we approach it for all of our 100-plus brands we actively work with. Now, first before I ever touch an email, I need to go to the website and I need to do some research. I need to see some of the messaging and I need to see how seriously this brand is handling their email program. So, when I land on the [0:48] homepage, I'm looking for a few things. Is there a pop-up? What's the offer? How fast does it fire? What does their navigation look like? What's the hero message? Are they leading with one product or are they having multiple different products? What sorts of programs do they have? What's their social media? All that sort of stuff is what I'm looking at. All right, I went on the website and I got this pop-up [1:04] form and it fired almost immediately. So, I can tell you right now that this is underperforming. Right off the bat, they just asked for my email. There's a ton of text right here. Get 20% off. This isn't a full-screen pop-up, which is typically against best practice. It's just not an optimized form. I can click subscribe here with a burner Gmail and then we see we have the phone number, which is fine, but that's just not an optimized pop-up form for what works in 2026. So, I already know that they [1:25] probably have an archaic email setup. These are the sort of pop-up forms that work super well in 2026. You say you've got whatever your discount is, you ask a question, you engage with the customer first, and then you ask for email, and then you ask for SMS. The problem with going to email right off the bat, it's like asking somebody to marry you before the first date. But, if you ask them a low-barrier-to-entry question first, and ask the customer a question about them, and people love talking about themselves, then you can get 50% response rates on this first question compared to a normal pop-up will get [1:51] like 6% submit rates. But, you get 50% right here people to engage, and once somebody engages, it's human nature, you're more likely to keep engaging. So, right here then, we ask for their email, and on average here, we get roughly around like 12 to 16% opt-ins compared to a regular pop-up at around 4%. That is a three to four X in list growth right there. So, that's why it's super important. Also, something super [2:11] interesting is they're doing 20% off. And we actually recently ran a test for an eight-figure brand testing 20% off versus telling people in the pop-up form, "Hey, you have a mystery discount." You can see, it's over 50% increase in submit rate, and look at the difference in orders right here for the mystery discount. In 2026, this level of [2:27] intrigue really gets people to respond. And so, you'd use messaging like this in this example. If I was recreating their pop-up, I would 100% get them on Olia, the best pop-up platform there is. It pays for itself and more. They literally get it all set up for you, and they AB test everything for you. It's just the [2:41] best pop-up form out there. oliappopups.com. If you're not using Olia, I don't know what to tell you. You need to get on it ASAP. Okay, the pop-up is sorted. Let's get a sense of their current email setup. All right, so this is the welcome email that I just got when I signed up to their list, and holy snooze fest. So, one of the problems here is that they don't put the discount code right up at the top. For our welcome emails, we need to have a discount code way up at the top of the email. Cuz right here, this person, when they open the email, all they see is [3:06] this. We don't want the customer to have to be able to scroll to get their code. So, that's a big no-no, and that has actually a way larger impact on conversions than you think. If you have different sections right here, you need to have individual shop now buttons for each section. Dramatically increases your click rates cuz people don't know that they can click right here. There's no sort of story or how they're different, so we definitely want to update that. So again, I'm kind of realizing it's kind of an archaic email structure. And we can see some of the other emails that they're doing right here. I'm on میل.com to take a look at [3:31] like the vibes of all their other emails, and it's kind of pretty similar for how they do things. This is like kind of like their standard template, and it all kind of looks the same, and holy yawn. The thing that really annoys me here is that their biggest competitor, Hydro Flask, has really gone the corporate route, and they don't have a unique voice. So, Stanley has a huge opportunity to kind of like come in and be that like unique voice and be like the voice that goes after the younger demographic, like the Pilates girl and the yoga girl. They have the opportunity to just really go in on that and [3:59] capitalize on Hydro Flask and what they're failing to do. So, I really want to try to do this in this email that I'm creating. As far as their strategy, they mix in some nurture sort of stuff where it's not just like product highlights, and so it's like vacay or staycay. They have a lot of drops going on at all times, like the clutch. They do edits right here, so maybe they add a little bit more design. Daytripper or overnighter. So, they do a lot of this nurture stuff. I actually really like their sort of like email calendar strategy. And so, I'm just going to kind of like keep doing what they're doing, [4:23] but come up with an angle that I like that's similar to this like sort of daytripper overnighter, stay fueled, stay ready sort of like a general nurture campaign. One thing that we would definitely want to lock in is their campaign frequency. You can see March 5th, then March 10th, then 12th, then 17th, 18th, 19th, 20th. It's a bit inconsistent with how often they're sending. We'd need to get in a consistent cadence of sending the email every other day. For brand like them, [4:45] they could even send every single day. Cuz when you are such a big brand, and if you have an optimized pop-up form, you can send a ton, and you can sacrifice getting higher unsubscribes because you're growing your list at such a high rate. So, I would 100% increase the frequency and make it a little bit more consistent. But again, it's kind of just really boring. We don't follow conversion rate optimization with each [5:03] product having its own shop now button. There's really nothing here. There's no voice to it. And so, taking all that into consideration, I'm going to give Stanley's email presence a C+. Under-optimized pop-up, they're not sending enough, they don't have a unique voice, and they're leaving an opportunity for competitors to come in. They don't follow conversion rate best practices. So, the campaign I'm building is going to fill all those problems directly. So, I want to have a nurture sort of campaign that has some life that goes after the Pilates or the yoga girly because Hydro Flask is losing out on them. I want myself, Stanley, to jump in [5:31] and capitalize on this. So, I'm going to go to my custom GPT here. I'm going to click main menu, and it's going to help me come up with different options for a campaign that we can use to fill this. And then, we're going to have it help us write the copy for the email. So, I'm [5:43] going to say, "Give me campaign ideas." And then, it's going to ask me some questions. It's going to ask for brand information. All right, so I answered these questions right here super fast. I used AI to help me out, and we're going to get a ton of email examples that we can work with. So, let's see here. So, this is just helping me with the ideation. So, we have your daily hydration routine. We could probably do that. We could do what's in my Stanley, so different use cases. These are all just amazing ideas. I've trained this ChatGPT. Ooh, I really like this. The types of Stanley users. Like this could [6:11] be good. Like I'm imagining this in my head. Like we have Stanley for like the for the Pilates girl, for the hot girl walks. I kind of like this one. I think we might low-key go with this one, but let's see what else we got. A day in the life with Stanley. Story-based email following a real customer. These are all banger angles, guys. Make sure that you use this GPT. If you go to willcopy.net/gpt, this is an amazing tool to start getting ideas. But already, number four, I want to go with something like this. So, I'm going to have this help me lay out the email. And I found what works really [6:38] well for like fashion and accessory brands is really leaning into the seasons. And so, at the time that I'm writing this, it is April, and so we're getting up on summer. So, I'm just going to make this like a summer sort of email and get people excited for summer. We want to be early because people buy in [6:50] preparation. They get super excited. People are already looking forward to summer. So, I want to lean into that a little bit. All right, so this is the prompt that I'm doing. I'm just saying, "I think I want this version here. Make this a summer theme, and I want to focus on hydration." Just because also we want to say like, "Hey, summer is here." And I want to tie the benefits of our product a little bit, not just like listing out the different things. So, let's talk about hydration and how they need to be hydrated. And then, I'm thinking just like tie different [7:11] products to different types of people. So, like the Pilates girl, for the hot girl walks, for happy hour queens, all that sort of stuff. You can kind of like get the sense of like the copy and the vibe that I'm going for. So, let's see kind of what we are going with right here. So, you can see with this, this is the sort of layout it gives us. Gives us headlines, sub-headline, first CTA, body copy, and then it's also giving us different product sections and different segments right here. So, this is perfect. This gives me the starting point that I want. Me, I don't like to [7:38] take this and exactly run with it. I like to use it as a starting point, and then I like to actually build the email and create the copy as I'm kind of building it. So, I like this. I like the Pilates girl right here, the hot girl walk queen, the happy hour queen, like that sort of vibe. Okay, so this is what I'm thinking. Thought about it a little bit, and I'm imagining the email right here. The hero section, I want to call out something like for the hydration queens. And so, we start off just with that vibe of like, "Hey, this is like towards like the the younger sort of [8:02] audience right here, and we're hip and we're fun." And then, we'll have some body copy on summer cuz again, I see the best converting copy for accessory and clothing brands is based on the seasons and be early to the seasons. And then, I want to tie our product to benefits. How does this actually help the customer? So, if you carry a water bottle, you drink more water. And what does water give you? It makes your skin healthier and all these other benefits. So, I think that if we can create something like that, that's going to be great. And then, the product section, that's when we'll go into like the customer [8:27] archetypes of like, "Hey, the Pilates girl." Like that sort of vibe. So, let's see what we get with. This is going to give me the sort of like structure and flow that I want. And then, I'm just going to get straight to designing this because we're running out of time, and I got to speed up. Okay, cool. So, we have a simple sort of layout right here. I like it. Nice. So, body copy, people who carry a water bottle right here. Uh more hydration is better focus. Perfect. I think that this is great. This is how we want the email to flow. We'll have different products right here based on [8:52] the uh ones right here. So, let's go ahead and get to designing this email. So, the first thing that we want to do is we want to map out the email and get the overall sense so I can help visualize this. So, inside of Figma, which is my favorite design tool, essentially I'm creating a frame right here, and I'm setting it at 600 width, and this is kind of like going to be the architecture of our email. Going to insert some text boxes here, and again, help me visualize this. I was playing around with some fonts before this as well. Okay, so this is what I'm thinking [9:15] for the top hero section. This is just the winning layout that we always run with because it works the best. Have a headline, have some body copy, and a CTA way up at the top of the email, and then over top some sort of graphic. That's the winning hero section. And so, I just like to use this and I like to start this out and visualize it. And I'm just going to start inserting the copy here and kind of like get the visualization of this. So, let me let me just write this out really quick. I'm going to use this starting point, and then see what I [9:39] can come up with. Give me like 60 seconds. All right, boom. We got this copy in here. We got for the hydration queens, and I kind of cooked with this copy going off of what they had as a base point. Hot girl summer is here. Whether you're poolside, trailside, trying to romanticize errands, Stanley is your must-carry. It's the 40-oz icon of ice cold water, clothes that match your fit, and handle that makes her the main character. This just speaks exactly toward this customer demographic that we're going for. So, now it's time to actually get to some of the designing of this. So, let me pull in all the logos, [10:05] and I'm going to do I'm thinking of doing just like a sort of collage of their different products right here cuz I've been seeing this brand and their designs lately, and these are just like super super freaking sexy. And so, I'm thinking of something something like this where we show the products, and we we make it like a scrapbook sort of vibe, like a summer scrapbook. So, let [10:23] me see what I can cook up over here. Okay, so here is where we're at. We kind of see it coming together. I just pulled some of this off the internet as fast as I could, and I adjusted some of the fonts so it looks a little bit better. And so, I kind of like this, but you know, it's very plain. So, I'm going to add a background. I'm thinking of making this like a pink sort of color something. I'm going to look up on the internet. I'm going to look up pink gradient, and then see what like something like this is going to be perfect. All right, so I got this, and [10:48] let's just pull this in like this is a pretty summer vibe. Let's send this to the back, and then boom. Look at this. This is looking pretty solid. You can see a little feature that I did is I added this little crown above queens cuz I thought that was nice, and then adjusted the font to be like cursive. Um so, this is amazing. I love this. I think we're going to add a little bit of background like a scrapbook feature to this. Kind of like what this brand had [11:12] done in the past. Do like little stuff like this. So, let me just look at some of our past emails and try to see if I can find a template. All right, so I was able to find this from a past email, and I think that this is going to work great if we just pull this in, and then we send this to the back. I'm going to move it over the image, and that looks pretty good. Looks like a scrapbook. I don't have too much time to make this super pretty. We're running out of time, and so I'm just going to roll with this. I'm going to [11:36] adjust these colors to make it a little bit lighter um as well, and then I think this hero section is going to be good to go. So, I like the wider sort of vibe. It's a little bit more summer. So, here's what the hero section looks like. We call out our ideal customer. We give some body copy which ties into the season. A big button above the fold, and we give off the aesthetic that we want, the summer sort of vibes and scrapbook right here. Amazing. Let's get to the next section. Okay, so we're going to do something like this. I'm going to find a stat on how much extra water somebody [12:04] actually drinks if they carry a water bottle cuz I think that would be effective. You drink 50% more water if you carry a water bottle, and then just like what are the stats for like what how does water benefit you? So, I'm going to get into that. And this is just going to be just like kind of like a block of copy is what I'm thinking. So, [12:19] all right. So, I found this stat here. 27% more water if you carry a water bottle. If you post that in the emails, people love it, and people believe it because it is true rather than saying like, "Hey, if you carry a water bottle, you're going to drink more." No, let's give them the actual numbers. I found this on Google. 27% more water. And then again, I just want to get people to buy into Oh my gosh, I need to buy my own water bottle. So, hydrated skin is glowy skin. Water boosts circulation right here, and so it helps blood flow in the skin which makes you look prettier. Then [12:48] dehydrated skins are fine lines and flakes. So, I think that this is perfect. Now, we are going to have to spruce this up. The first thing is instead of the white background, I'm going to change the background of this probably to the same pastel color right here so we can carry some of this vibe. And so, just adjusted that. So, now we have this. I think we can instead of black, let's try to make some of this [13:08] pink. Starting to come together a little bit. For this callout, let's like circle this. So, I'm going to get a circle. All right, boom. We're locked in. So, for these whenever I do little callouts in sections like this, I like to just add like a white background. It's typically sort of like to really like elevate this a little bit or add some sort of background. And so, I'm going to do something like this and see how I can make this look a little better. I'm going to have to go fast. I think something cool again to speak towards the customer the demographic is using emojis. So, I might put an emoji for [13:42] each one of these. All right, boom. Here's what we got. I added these emojis. I just moved this to the side right here. So, this is like if you know, you know if you know this emoji. And then water right here, and then this one right here should be pretty good. I like how this is looking. One thing that I will do here is add a cleaner transition because this is just way too blocky. What we can do here is you can actually add like little curves right here. So, I'm going to do some sort of like curve pattern like this, and then make this this color, and I'm [14:16] going to smooth this out. All right, sweet. Here's what we got. Flows a little bit better. Now, oops. I left these behind when I scrolled this up. Looks pretty good. We got to get to the product section. We are almost out of time. Okay, so I'm just going to use this template of a product, and I'm just going to stack a few different products right here. But, I'm always referencing my email design section templates, and so I actually pulled some from this product section template right here. It [14:39] helps me speed up my design process. This is available for anybody who joins my community. Email marketing mastery right here. Full email marketing course. There's 124 people. All we ever talk about is email marketing. The full course, tons of templates, and weekly calls on Friday. If you want templates like this to speed up your design, then you should join. Link will be in the description. So, I have the product section right here. Let me just pull in all of the products and fill in some of the copy as fast as I can. There's probably going to be some issues, but I'm almost out of time. All right, we [15:03] got them in here for our different products. I actually want to add a headline above this. So, I'm going to copy and paste this, and then transition this into the product section. And then I'm thinking I was going to put the label of the people like the for the pilates girly. I was going to put it right here, but I think I'm going to call it out just like right here cuz we kind of have that scrapbook vibe. So, I think if I like use a scrapbook thing like right here, that would look pretty [15:25] good. But, let me add this headline. I'll do something like a Stanley for every occasion. I think that's not how you spell occasion, but whatever. Boom. Right here. Let's add these labels. For this one, I brought a product that's good for walks and keeps your waters cold. So, this one is going to be for the hot girl [15:47] walks. Just like this. They rotate you. I'll do something like this. Bring you to the front, and then also add a background sort of like circle. Move you behind this and something like this in the color. So, I'm going to do this. I'm actually also going to add a radius so it's not jagged. I've been adding a radius towards everything. So, let me [16:06] put these in in the different callouts. All right, so we got it all locked in. We got the for the hot girl walks, for the yoga girly, for the poolside princess, and the happy hour queen. And always after a product section, we always need to have a final call to action, a final shop now where we have shop all products in case somebody wants to keep shopping and they didn't like any of these ones. Boom. So, we're looking pretty good. This email looks awesome. It has the vibe we want. It has the fun copy we want for going after this customer. The only thing is there's [16:34] not a lot of lifestyle imagery. And so, I think I'm going to pull something up since I have a couple minutes left. I'm going to mess around, look at their Instagram a little bit, and see if I can find some imagery. So, I was actually able to pull up this image off the internet. I think that this looks kind of cool if we put this at the bottom to show kind of like a lot of the different products, and it's going to bring some life to it. So, let's do something like that, and then let's just build the footer. I'm just going to use my [16:58] template, and then we'll be all done. Footer completed. I just used a past template, and then put in my image right here, but essentially all that you need for your footer, just put some shop now category buttons cuz in case somebody got to the bottom of this, and they want to shop by category. This usually adds an extra 25% extra clicks to your emails just by having category buttons in your footer. And boom. Here's the email that we put together. For the hydration queens, we have some copy up at the top which is fun and stands out from what they're currently doing and stands out from their competitors. A big button [17:25] right at the top of the email so when somebody opens the email, there's a button for them to click. We have the scrapbook summer vibe. We tie our product to benefits towards the customer and how having a water bottle makes you drink more water, and you have all these benefits. And then again, we direct people towards different products for different use cases, and we bring that fun sort of like copy and vibe to it with these different names. And then a final shop now button and an optimized footer, and boom. As far as when I would send this and who I would send this to, I would send this just to the engaged [17:51] 90-day list. Anybody who's opened an email or been active on site in the past 90 days, that is my base engaged segment. So, I would just send it to that segment right there. And typically for this demographic, we see that 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. performs the best. So, that's when we would send the email on a weekday 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. We would send this to our wide engaged list. Both of those are the standard and what performs the best. So, I'm confident that this would rip for them. We are all set up. I think it looks pretty good for [18:15] getting this all done in 30 minutes. Stop the timer. You can see just how much extra pop we get in this email compared to what they're currently doing in their corporate ass setup and their small little buttons that people are never going to click. I never like to overthink subject lines and preview text. You can keep them super super standard. I think honestly what that GPT gave me, I would do something like for the hydration queens. And then preview text hydration equals energy, glow, [18:38] everything. I think that that's perfect. A lot of people really overcomplicate their subject line and preview text, but I never see a massive difference in open rates based on what you say. People open emails based on the sender name. If somebody likes the brand Stanley, they're going to open all their emails no matter what. But, I never like to overthink it. You should be spending more of your time on email creative. So, I think subject line will be for the hydration queens, and then we're going to tie in the benefit hydration equals energy, glow, everything. For this email, I'd be looking for 50 to 60% open [19:03] rates. I'd be looking for at least a 1% click rate, and ideally a lot of money. Building a million-dollar email campaign literally just comes down to the step-by-step process that I just took you through. I know I said if I fail, I would give away a free audit to somebody. But, because I'm pretty stoked that I pulled this off, click the first link in the description below, and I will do an audit for your brand completely for free. Talk to my lead strategist. He'll give you an audit, and then I'll give an audit off of that going a little bit deeper. We'll tell you exactly what's wrong with your [19:27] emails, where you should be, and what you need to set up. If you'd like to see a video where I go a little bit slower and break this all down in more depth split by what email marketing strategies matter by if you're a million-dollar brand versus 10 million versus 100 million-dollar brand, then click this next video that's popping up on the [19:40] screen, and I will see you over there. Thank you so much for watching. I will see you in the next one. --- About this transcript Read from YouTube's own caption track and laid out by ViewRank AI (https://viewrankai.com).
