# Top 6 Avoidable Mistakes No Code SaaS Startups Make Channel: Rob Walling Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3gD6hhOhkqs Duration: 6 min Language: English Words: 1178 Transcript page: https://viewrankai.com/tools/youtube-transcript/3gD6hhOhkqs --- [0:00] The no code movement continues to expand, and I'm hearing from more and more folks who are using no code to build software products. I know SaaS as well as anyone, but I haven't built a no code app myself. So, today I've brought in an expert in no code to cover six mistakes he sees people making way too often. Not surprisingly, many of the mistakes he sees with no code are similar to the ones you hear me talk about all the time on this channel. Make sure you stick around for mistake number six. It's one that I think many no coders learn the hard way. And with [0:28] that, I'll let JJ take it from here. Hey everyone, I'm JJ. For the past four years, I've been building with no code tools at the highest levels and teaching others how to do the same. Along the way, I've turned these skills into a successful business making six figures for many years now. No code has truly changed my life, and I'm here to share how it can do the same for you. No code tools are super powerful and let anyone make their own apps, but I've seen some common mistakes that can cause big problems later. So, stick with me and I'll show you how to avoid all of these [0:58] headaches. But before we jump in, could you drop a comment below? Let us know which no code tools you've tried, or if you haven't tried any yet, why not? So, mistake number one, skipping research. Diving straight into your project without fully understanding your market, who your customers are, and the problem that you're solving can lead you astray from the get-go. It's crucial not to just pick the right tool, but to ensure you're creating something that truly [1:22] meets a need. So, take your time here. Building a successful business doesn't happen overnight. Be thorough, do your research, and figure out the right problem to solve because you're probably going to be doing this for several years to five to 10 years if it's a real business, and you need to make sure you're targeting the right problem and the right market to make it worth your time. Mistake number two, not prioritizing clean UI and UX. The thing is, people interact with software and technology every single day. And so, when they use something that isn't up to the standard of your Slack and your Gmail and everything else, they [1:56] instantly lose trust, they lose interest because they can just tell right away, right? So, my pro tip for you is to work with a designer at the earliest stages to build your UI mockups. This also allows you to get these mockups in front of your users before you even build anything to see if you're on the right track, to see if the user flow works, and to see if it's something your customers are actually going to use before you spend more time and money on it. So, preparation is key here. Get your UI created early on, get it in front of your customer, and you will [2:25] benefit from it. Mistake number three, feature creep and delayed market entry. I think this is something we're all aware of. Uh just because you could build with no code, it allows you to build so much faster, and often that leads to us building many, many features and like not launching it, right? And this is a problem. Building a lot of features slows you down, slows down your time to market, and also makes your app more [2:48] complicated and slow. So, start simple. Get to the market as soon as possible. Get in front of your users and get feedback. Mistake number four, efficient building for future expansion. Not building your project the right way, or by building your project in a way where your V1 is already at its capacity, is a problem. Understand that this is your V1. It needs to have a foundation with a lot of room to grow based on your user feedback and all the things that are coming in of how you want to change and add on to your product. So, when you're building it, build it in a way that you [3:19] can understand and you can go back to easily and add on to because this is just the beginning. So, build it the right way from the get-go. Mistake number five, understanding security. Just because it's no code doesn't mean it's not safe or that it cannot be safe. You also need to understand security and the different mechanisms each platform uses for security. You need to understand client-side filtering versus server-side filtering and what data is actually coming to the page or not. All of these things are principles that you need to know how to build with and to build your application around in order to keep your users' data safe. And [3:54] that's the most important part because if your users' data isn't safe, chances are you're not going to get to V2 anyways. Mistake number six, building a scalable database design. A lot of people get into no-code, but they don't really understand how to build a good database structure. And that leads to slow-performing no-code apps or apps that just aren't built the right way and can't scale the right way. And that's kind of where no-code gets that can't scale problem. But it's really comes down to the database design. There are so many things you can do to build a good database design that will lead to improved performance and security. So, [4:24] understanding how to build a good database design and also understanding which platform you're using because some platforms pull data in different ways. For example, Bubble processes all of the fields in a table rather than Xano just processes the field only. So, knowing how your data is coming from each of the platforms can help you structure a database design that is optimized for [4:46] each platform. So, let's wrap this up. There are a lot of components that contribute to the success of a no-code application. And just like traditional software development, factors like design, security, and performance are critical for your no-code applications. However, the beauty of no-code is that it allows you to build solutions up to 10 times faster while still having the full potential to earn a lot of money just like me. So, you can build apps really quickly. You can get to market super fast and you can earn money really quickly. All the reasons why I love no-code and more. So, if you found it helpful, please subscribe, give it a [5:20] thumbs up, and don't forget to check out the next video. In that video, Rob will be chatting with my good friend Chad and how he grew his no-code app to over a million dollars in revenue. So, that's it. I'm JJ.
