# I Gave Grok Bot Its Own Number (Full Setup + Live Test) Channel: Marlon Roldan Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1l9f8ajYcDQ Duration: 11 min Language: English Words: 2189 Transcript page: https://viewrankai.com/tools/youtube-transcript/1l9f8ajYcDQ --- [0:00] This is Mar Haircuts. How can I help you? I'm an AI [music] assistant calling for Marlon. He'd like to book one men's haircut tomorrow, Tuesday, October 27th. I can do 2:30 p.m. 2:30 in the afternoon works. Uh, that's roughly going to be about $45. $45 is under Marlon's limit. Yeah, that sounds good. Call result, order booked. I gave my Grok Bot its own phone number. It can call for me, it can order things for me, it can schedule things on my calendar for me. It can even text between me and my friends. And I have to say it's a really cool. And now that my bots have their own phone [0:35] number, it definitely feels like this is one step closer to a personal AI assistant that does it all for you. So [music] today, I'm going to show you exactly how to set this thing up because it can be a little complex. [music] Number two, how to think about it within the ecosystem of your other bots and kind of the do's and don'ts. Number three, ultimately, how much this all costs. So, we're going to do a test call here. Um, it's going to call my cell as if you're ordering a large pepperoni for pick-up from Tony's Pizza. Um, it'll be the same order, one large pepperoni for [1:01] pick-up around 7:00 p.m. under the same name, Marlon, paid at pick-up, up to $30. Now, this is my phone screen you are viewing. There we go. Hello, Tony's Pizza. How can I help you? I'd like to place a pick-up order for Marlon. One large pepperoni, ready around 7:00 tonight. One a large pepperoni. Okay, we have some deals. We have um, [1:22] some some cool bundles. No, thanks. Just the one large pepperoni. Great. [music] Do you have that total for me? Uh, I do. It is $60. That's over Marlon's limit of $30 before tip. okay. Marlon will call back. How much is your budget? $30 before tip. $30. Have a good one. There we go. As you can see, we are getting a text. Call result, not available. Tony's Pizza quoted $60 for one large pepperoni. It's going to call on my behalf and it can even schedule some things. You're looking for a haircut, you're going to call me and you're going to book it into the [1:57] schedule. My schedule. So, see, I have up booking brief and show it to you before I call. I still want PA to brief me before actually doing the action. There we go. Mar Haircuts, how can I help you? I'm an AI assistant calling for Marlon. He'd like to book one men's haircut tomorrow, Tuesday, October 27th, anytime between noon and 6. Do you have anything [2:20] open in that window? I can do 2:30 p.m. 2:30 in the afternoon works. Can you tell me the total for that? Uh that's roughly going to be about $45. [music] $45 is under Marlon's limit. It'll be under the name Marlon and he'll pay at the appointment. Does that all sound good? Uh yeah, that sounds good. So, tomorrow [2:43] at 2:30? Yes, tomorrow, Tuesday, October 27th at 2:30 in the afternoon. [music] One men's haircut for $45. Thanks. Have a good one. And as you saw there, [music] the text came through. Call result, order booked. By the way, if you want to learn more about the Grok Bot, subscribe below. Now, let's set this up. Now, the first thing you have to consider is obviously [3:05] the skill. So, the skill is important. Now, when it comes to Grok Bot, obviously they don't really offer skills like Claude does or ChatGPT. Um now, if you look over here, you just press this um and it mentions skills here, right? But you can't really set them up. What you can do though is you can see here I have a phone assistant skill. So, you [3:27] can build the skill conversationally. What I mean by that is I have to talk to PA here. I have to say, "Hey, I want to set this thing up." And it'll do it for me. You can do that or what you can do is have another LLM kind of set up the skill for you. You can bring that file over and drop it in here. Okay, that's [3:45] another [music] option to do it as well. So, let's go over the skill um because that's kind of the foundation of things. This is the phone assistant private skill. Run Marlon's texting from his own Twilio number. Twilio, it's a third-party provider. That's where we get the phone number from. That is one part of the equation. Follow up on calls, his Grok voice agent answers on it, and have that agent call businesses for him, handle every incoming text, send texts he asked for, act on call reports, check his calendar, set up times, and keep a log he can read. You never pretend to be him, which obviously [4:16] is very important. You're useful because you're quick and safe because you only talk to the people and topics Marlon allowed. Okay? Which is great. Again, I have a lot of safeguards here. We'll talk about that in a sec. Again, this is a very nuanced, very in-depth skill. So, as you've seen, I've talked about [music] Twilio. Now, you want to come to Twilio or another provider to actually get the phone number because you're going to need one. The phone number needs to have these options. So, if you want to do SMS, you want to do voice, they have the phone number has to have this option. Some don't. You can [4:49] obviously toggle that up top here. So, let's just do voice and SMS. Let's do I'm in Canada, and we just search. And then, what that does is that obviously just gives us a bunch of Canadian number, right? And we can see here, some of these numbers have some options, others don't. If you don't like those numbers, that's totally fine. You can refresh results. Now, the other important thing is, too, is you can either search by obviously number or locality. So, for instance, if you want to make it local towards your area, this doesn't always work. So, just to repeat, [5:18] set up your account, buy the number. [music] Very simple. Next, you want to come to console.x.ai. Now, where you want to go is you want to come to voice agents. Now, just be mindful, this is still in beta. However, I find [music] good use from it. You're going to set this assistant up for yourself. You're going to come here and [5:35] you're going to create your own agent. Now, what I find is the easiest is you're actually going to go back to GrokBot, and you're just going to explain to GrokBot what you want. Cuz then it's [music] going to connect to that console, and it's going to create one for you. [music] Now, the instructions are very [5:54] important. A few things to mention here. Obviously, the task, what they're doing. How to talk is very important, uh cuz they're calling on behalf of you. This is kind of the owner here. I have people. We're going to blur this out, but people allow if I have this list here, it's an it can only really talk to these individuals. So, you're just going to add people in cuz I don't want to just call it I don't want them calling any random person. Let's just say you eat at Tony's Pizza quite often. I would then just come in here and add Tony's contact. [music] That's how you're going [6:26] to have some guardrails when it comes to this. Now, this is a cool part as well. If I'm calling my bot, I have When I call my bot, it says what's the password? Because if anyone can just call my bot, then they have access to a bunch [music] of stuff. They have access to the calendar, X, Y, and Z. Also, you want to put in the don'ts. So, never share verification codes, passwords, [music] card or bank details. That's what we don't want to do. Then we have the tools. So, we have five tool calls. Now, number one, we have a get task. The [music] get task is as it sounds. Get [6:56] the brief for a call you're making for Marlon. To my understanding, when I have something like, "Hey, order me a large pepperoni pizza." It needs to kind of fetch that task from my Grok bot so it understands what we're even asking for. [music] It's going to fetch that task, use it first before you say anything else whenever the caller's number is your own number. Then we have the report call and report result. And then obviously, we have a transfer to Marlon, right? So, there's kind of a list I added and if it's very, very urgent, [7:26] they can say, "Yes, put me through." Other people, it's like you you know, essentially it's the gatekeeper, you can't get through to me. [music] Okay? So, those are the important tool calls. So, we have a few functions as well in Twilio um that kind of make this thing work. Uh as you can see here, we have a owner cell, a call result key, a task key, [music] call result URL, and a sync service SIDs. I'll be honest, I'm not privy to a lot of this place. You can ask Grok bot to help you fill all of this out. [music] You just tell your LLM, "Hey, we need to [7:56] set up some functions to make this [music] thing work." And by the way, if you want to learn AI the right way, we have a completely free app down for you below. It's been downloaded over a thousand plus times now. A lot of people are enjoying it. And just to be clear, if you're just looking for an assistant to take incoming calls, [music] you really just need your Twilio phone number and the console, okay? And then you can just pass that along to Grok Bot. What gets tricky is that the functionality for outgoing calls is a little different to set that up. And that's why you do need to set up the [8:24] functions via Twilio, and you need to have some of these tasks set up. Now, the last puzzle is actually going to Grok Bot, and what you're going to need is you're going to need some webhooks. You're going to need a webhook URL, and you're going to need a webhook key, okay? So, [music] the webhook is the web address your Grok voice agent posts each call report to when a call ends. [music] So, once we just click on the webhook, you have a few things. You have post to URL, and then you have your key, and then your header. And you need to set that up, because this is the routine we [8:58] created, and you need it now to connect to [music] Grok Bot. Again, they don't show this natively, right? That's Grok Bot. A lot of it is just intuitive, and so if you don't ask for the webhook, you're not going to really find the webhook. At least that's my understanding so far. That's why you [9:13] want to run through it with Grok Bot. You want to say, "Hey, I'm looking to set this up. I have my Twilio number. I have my console set up, and now I need [music] it connected to to you, and I want it coming through Grok Bot." Lastly is actually tracking the usage. So, Grok Bot had a new feature, which was pages, and what I did was I connected it all to pages, and essentially this is Yennefer's and PA's bone line usage meter. So, every call and text on Grok Bot's phone line, plus what's left on the Twilio balance, and what it buys. In other words, so obviously when we want [9:46] to know how much we can actually use still, how much usage we have left, kind of breaks this all down, gives us our monthly kind of cost here. Again, it's very cheap, and at a glance we have 21 texts sent, [music] received seven, and then we have some calls, right? So, voice agent calls here, and every call and text. So, you see here we have all, we have text, we have calls, and we have what failed, okay? [music] And this is how the tracking takes place. But just to be clear, I think it's about a dollar to have a Twilio phone number. Grok Voice 3 is very, very cheap, and you can come in [10:18] here and you can see the conversations you're having and the insights, right? Um so look, it's 66 cents used, eight total minutes. I mean, like super, super cheap.
